There seems this ongoing obsession, with using music to drown out, what the average person would like to hear the difference in the bikes off-road especially, just tone down the music to background levels and let the bikes do the talking!!
“It gives more confidence off road”, might it be, because its got better tyres! Surely a better comparison, would of been to have both bikes with the same tyre!
Good morning Paul, agree, however we have fitted our kit to a Tenere with the standard OE fitment tyres and there still was a substantial improvement both off and on road. If you require any technical specifications or cost for this kit then please contact enquires@ktechsuspension.com
What a comparision! Two people with different skills talk about bikes with different tires about confidence on the bike. No side to side comparison to see the suspension differences. Anyhow, Mick seems to be a great rider and a very nice person.
I just purchased one..took it to the Cabot trail in Cape Breton Nova Scotia and did 1200 plus kms on twisty roads and highway. Performed magnificently. Then next day in the woods. Love the feel. Great video..thanks.
So @k-tech what did you do to the bike? springs, valves, open/closed cartridge? Some detail would be helpful when navigating products on your website and understanding the level of investment in this project bike.
Hi Aaron, thanks for your reply please contact our sales team - enquires@ktechsuspension.com and they will be able assist you with the technical details and costs for this suspension upgrade
Mick Extance is one of the thunderbird characters. By the way take note, see when Mick said "I just wanted to make it a little softer" that means the setup is too hard on small chop where every average Joe wants a nice plush ride.
As most have said here, there is not the why's the what's and the how's in this piece. Why you did, what you did, and how you did it. I mean: we noticed this in the front forks whaen we went to this terain, so we did this to the front suspension, etc. By mistake this came out as an advertorial.
It would have been most useful if a brief description/explanation of the modifications had been discussed and a close up of the B’stone tyres to help viewers evaluate the changes, other than that nothing to be gained from this video. Simple spring changes to suit riders weight and more aggressive tyres will also “transform” the bike from stock for off road use. Having said that, this is an adventure bike and hasn’t been specifically designed and built for “off road” although many are going down that route. Mick also mentioned softening the rear suspension, a few what, when’s and why’s would have made for interesting viewing, rather than being directed to the K Tech web site from the responses.
Hi Andy, thank you for your email...and we definitely take your points on board when making our next film...the idea for the film was we gave the bikes to two different experts, they ride it and add their reviews...hopefully leading the potential customer to contact K-tech for the technical details and the costs involved to do this.
You should have put the same tires on the bikes for it to be a proper comparison... Shame u didn't bother to do this. Tires make a massive difference to the feel of a bike.
It’s all very well saying you’ve done something to the suspension, but how are we supposed to know what’s been done, maybe for all I know they’ve just stuck some stickers on the suspension and twiddled with the adjustment ?!! Please can you detail what’s been done.
By reading the comments and the description you have installed on the bike the OVRS kit on the front fork and the piston kit on the rear. Is it possible to share the recommended settings from K-tech, as we cannot find any information online. Cheers
I was just wondering why you tapped so abruptly the rear brake before entering the turn at minute 1:21, i dont consider myself an expert rider by any means so i am curious what happened there, nice video by the way!!
They say they "haven't spent thousands" so probably a couple hundred bucks. I am heavy 290lbs, so like most I would have to change the spring rate front and rear and adjust the damping. Thats pretty much ALL you can get for a couple hubndred bucks, but you'd probably get a HUGE improvement and better ROI than spending thousands. Factory RACE guys have money to burn so they don't care about cost.
