Hey guys, we're flying an early spitfire today! A plane that has severe Heat issues, and although she's a beauty, i dont like them this hot ;) Hope you enjoy! and dont forget to like, comment and subscribe for more. Have a great day! :)
That's not true, with MEC it's managable you are just setting 100% at radiator, and without WEP you have much more room to use full engine power in a fight. It will overheat eventually but after longer time. Ofcourse you will loose some speed due to fully opened radiator, but you can regain it properly using mixture/prop pitch.
Yay! A British plane, I feel like Gajin don't pay eniught attention to the British trees (I know that the naval fleet is being added but I mean planes and tanks)
Spitfire’s overheating is kinda historical.... But not really on later models. And Bf 109s really should have similar problems with it. Anyways, hope you fly the Spitfire Mk XVI soooon lel :)
Great videos by the way, they have been very helpful. Regarding the spitfires, with M.E.C. the engine issues are manageable. I even went as far as to read the original pilot notes for the spitfires and it kind of made the heat issue make sense. www.avialogs.com/viewer/avialogs-documentviewer.php?id=2518
Lol i know what the problem is....after sometime in the battlefield the engine with gradually overheat itself and having at high throttles like 90-95 will definitely overheat the plane in the long run...they didnt over do it a bit its just war thunder physics...
I have a theory. Maybe the early spitfires overhead so much so that when they finish the battle they can use the heated H2O to make some bloody good brrrrrrrrrritish tea.
So many memories! This is the first plane I actually "got good" at. I had already unlocked tier 3 in most nations but for some reason I came back to the spitfire mk 2b. And I realized that I somehow had a natural feel for the Hispanos. Although they were inconsistent, I would get long 0.7 km snipes with them, which was very satisfying. And although I didn't know it at the time, this is the plane in which I first experimented with energy traps - entering a maneuver with less energy and leaving with more - and I was forced to energy trap anyway, because everything else outran me. So yeah. Also, the P-51D-5 is feeling very un-loved :(
Thanks for flying it out mate, awesome vid as usual. I am not flying this out (only in Air RB only cause overheating doesn't have much effect in Tank RB) until Gaijin fixes this sh*t.
Don't give me that BS, Gaijin can easily just lower the BR or reduce the effect of overheating. This is a game for f**ks sake. "Balance" is more important than "realism" in a freaking 'video game'. And if you still think it's balanced then let's have a duel me in a Bf 109 F4 (cause that's what it faces 3 out of 4 times) and you take this plane (cause you think it's balanced, right?). If you even manage to beat me half the times I will shut up and if you don't want to then just don't bother replying. Sorry if I come out as a rude guy.
Yeah, I meant it's not fair for british planes to be at a disadvantage against their opponents. Thanks for understanding my point of view, pretty rare on internet :P I see you have a YT channel. Don't mind if I check it out.
I was watching that collab with Green Fury in P51 just perfection and other one with 2 more guys in the squad you had some serious fun there mate. Cheers.
I think the bigger issue isn't that the Spitfire is wrong, it's that everything around it is wrong. A Bf-109 of the same era (the E and F models) would also overheat if run continuously and were only rated to run emergency power (around 90% throttle) for a minute per flight. The P-40 was limited to 1 minute of combat power and was not designed to run above that for any given period of time unless in an emergency situation. So, I'd agree, from what I've read and having flown similar Spitfires in IL2, the Spitfire isn't wrong. It's just that everything it fights is. So I'd say bringing it in line with everything around it would be 'fixing it'.
You could say that and you are right but I don't think anybody here wants all other planes to overheat like this (which maybe historically true). They could implement that in SB though. Easier approach would be to either change the BR of this to 2.0 -2.3.
Flying them during the battle for Britain event I realized the over heating issue is only an issues at low speeds. If you manage to stay above 350 km/h the issue goes away, so climb in a shallow angle (10-13 degrees tops) and you can go faster and climb better. It's tricky but I was able to outclimb 109s that had air spawn.
@@jengar6258 I don't mean out climb on a 1:1 ratio ofcourse. I mean it in the sense that once I was ready to engage them I was usually at the same level or above them. I did use a little side climbing ofcourse and the enemy wasn't always smart.
You should re review the dornier 335 b2 ever since 1.77 it has became a beast that can turn almost better then fw 190s and the 3 mk 103s will kill a tu4/b29 from 1 mile away with 3-6 shots. It's insane and now it retains climbing energy even better. Still turns like a freight train but who cares. If you're last alive at 5.7 in a 335 you're already dead
I’ve probably been spoiled by my german planes but I tend to consider anything below 100 rounds per gun for cannons smaller than 30mm to be abysmal ammo capacity. It would help if I had better trigger discipline of course...but when you’re used to being able to just fire whenever you want
Hi Jengar. I disagree with you about this plane, though that's perhaps because I see her as a low-BR learner plane that I never expect to survive in anyway. So, I never have an extended problem with overheating because I don't climb in her much beyond 8-10,000ft. I have started using MEC in other planes, but she has no propeller pitch nor a usable radiator (IIRC). I also think that you are neglecting the "turn the engine completely OFF" trick when you have a spare 5-10 seconds, as it cools the engine down pretty much instantly to usable levels. Plus, I don't use WEP all the time in her; shes not a Fw 190 nor a P-47 and she doesn't really need it when I am flying below 10,000ft. WEP for catching people, for maintaining a climb, for pushing through a loop, but then turn it off for the actual dogfighting. Admittedly, you're a much better pilot who plans on surviving the match having gotten multiple kills, but I managed 7 kills in Air RB in a Spit Vb which is not too different. I landed twice for that result though... best and prettiest dogfighting I have ever done, with evening sun and contrails at ~6,000ft. :D
I sent the replay to Jingles; I hope it's entertaining enough for him to post it. I also gave you credit for my flying skills, and asked he check you out and give you a shout out. :D I'm going to try making a video of it myself so the record will survive past the current game version.
i dont have time to master the tank gamemode, thats next to the fact that Airplanes are a passion of mine, and tanks are only midly interesting to me. So if my son goes to school, and i get much more time, at that moment i might play tanks. But right now, with my limited gametime (about 60-90 minutes a day) i will focus on planes.
I already mastered the art of managing the ovwrheating without mec, the speed in just 90% is enough for me just drop to 0% when diving and bring it back to 100% when doing climb maneuvers
I wonder if u take minimum fuel, would that help? U gonna over heat anyway.... So make it run out of fuel before over heat, and less fuel means better horse power to weight ratio
i’ve been able to wep the whole match by climbing at 15 degrees with the radiator at 100% through the duration of my climb and then dropping the radiator to around 50 to 60% once in a combat situation. I recommend anyone that uses mec to do the same thing.
Wow.....ive actually never had a problem with overheating.....its pretty easy to manage that problem, just remember to let loose your ammo early and get a kill or two, go to the airfield and then come back, this tactic never got me killed by my own overheating
