Today we take a look at the Japanese A7M1, and we'll try to find out wether this plane is worth your money. We'll fly it out and see if it can perform in RB and AB, and after that i'll give you my opinion on the Japanese A7M1 (NK9H).

Hey guys, premium review today, Japanese, the last Zero, the A7M1. Fantastic plane, today we take a new look at the plane, which we looked at last right aftrer release of it when it sat at 3.3 Br in RB. Today it sits at 4.7 BR and it has received some FM tweaks. The other two planes you mention Kevin, are fine too ;) im not comparing in this video, its about wether this plane is worth the buy. And it easily is. I would personally actually prefer this one over the other two, if im purely looking at its performance.

I like all three ;) i agree the premium buyers should be compensated in such cases, the rewards with that br should indeed go up and be equal to the ko. It's not about kills, i get them in the other 2 as well, im talking about the handling. The flying in this plane is great. But why argue about taste. i like the uniqueness of the plane. you like the ko and the ki-96 better. thats good too ;)
I get pissed off when I buy a premium vehicle and then it gets nerfed or the BR changes. if you order a pair of black size 10 shoes and you are shipped a pair of size 8 brown shoes are you happy? do you want your money back? why is there not a refund option when we buy a vehicle and at a later date they change it to a point it is not what what was bought in good faith.
This aircraft is one of the most worth it's price tag premiums in the game right now in my opinion. It sacrifices some turning ability compared to the zeroes at a similar battle rating but gains so so much for that. It gains armor, self sealing fuel tanks (no more fireball and die from one .50 caliber hit thank god), hard hitting 13.2mm machine guns instead of 7.7mm pop guns, excellent rather than anemic ammunition capacity for the cannons, better performance at altitude, climb rate, far better energy retention, the list goes on. There are definitely better planes in the game for grinding silver lions and research points but this plane is *fun* and I suggest anyone that likes Japanese planes buy it on that basis alone.

I still love flying this plane. It does compress really bad above 650kph I would say. But it's not a boom and zoomer so it's fine.

Great vid, as ever! Great plane and great choice. It's a doodie is that one. I got it ages ago and to be honest I haven't really used it as much as maybe I should've. I think I may take it out after seeing this!! Cheers as ever matey!!

uhhhh... I thought it was at 4.3 not 3.3 before
i remember it being 3.3 in both modes, but memory can sometimes be incorrect. I remember it being rediculously low though ;)

Pretty good plane, only about 40 mph slower than the Mustang.
Production was horrible though with only 10 machines completed in the last year of the war.

Flown this a LOT in the AB where it does fantastic also. Great for grinding the Japanese tree. Not to forget the fantastic sounding guns :P

hmmm I have no problem with spawn camping as one or two players BUT when you get aresholes like Pro100 or WinFX whose entire M.O is camp the spawn as a squad ... well that's just complete bullshit. Any chance you can do review on P39N-0? You're almost untouchable at 3.9bR in that thing. I have 30-1 k/d ratio in RB in it. Frikken incredible plane.
Yeah, that might be a slightly different kind of spawncamping ;) i have a review up on the P39N-0 from about a year ago. It's slightly outdated ;)
I got this beast for 1,533 eagles. Only ever been scared of other Japanese fighters

Heck yeah brother it's so satisfying when someone gets on your tail but you pull a 360 in a second and blow their fuel ablaze, or blow their parts right off
This was my first premium plane. I really enjoy this beautiful aircraft and got to love that yellow camo! Nice video mate 😎

this machine, has a special place in my heart. I purchased this machine when it came out and it helped me so much to learn the basics of RB and to perfect my dogfight skills. the MkVc is also a machine I really love for its turntime :)
true, its a great plane, and so is that spit.
the MkVc is hands down my favorite plane in War Thunder, I always laugh in joy when a Fw190 or Yak loves to turnfight with me! and when fighting it (in a Fw190 for example) I run and what ever I do I DO NOT TURN haha :D

In simulator the plane is such a beauty to fly. Very very stable aircraft enough for any newcomers to quickly get into simulator mode. It's quite fast in sim and the guns are more than enough to take out most planes. Ammo load helps you stay in the fight for quite a long time. I love the plane. Beautiful orange flying in the sky.

it's the A6M8.... it just buried in the ocean until it was taken out it's said it was more powerful then the A7M1 and-2. another thing is that A6M8 and Ki-61 (in simple terms) had a baby and the ki-100 is born. ki-100 has the engine and the body is from the ki61

Hoi Jenger, Vraagje. Ik zit te twijfelen tussen de volgende Japanse premiums. de Ki-100 , A7M1 de FW 190 en de Ki-96 Ze zijn volgens mij allemaal goed. En dat maakt het moeilijk te kiezen. Misschien kan jij zeggen welke je het gemakkelijkste vind om de hoogste scores mee te behalen. en welke je de leukste vind om te vliegen? Dat maakt het misschien iets gemakkelijker voor me.

Hey Jengar have you flown out the Ki-61 Tei recently? They changed its flight model.... it can actually climb and has decent energy retention now. It went from being a complete brick to one of my favorite planes, you should try it out again

And how does this plane compare to the a7m2 by the way? The a7ms were the ones I skipped flying the Japanese tree
its very similar, if you skipped it you should go back to it!

I have not found i needed it so far, so i have not put effort into it so far.
It certainly look more rugged and could take few more hits than the famous Zero that it supposed to replace.

With this plane you'll beat most other planes in energyfighting and turnfighting. Taking a headon will almost surely give your opponent a chance he otherise wouldnt get. It can headon, but i would avoid them if possible.

Rusty in AB? That's what I have flown the most and can't remember the last time I had 14 kills in a match LOL. Has it even happened? Probably not. I should reconsider the time I spend playing the game ;-) great video though, as always.

There is a massive flaw with this plane in AB. If you go a little too fast it is almost uncontrollable.
i've not noticed any major control stiffening while flying it in ab so far.
Hehe could have been a bit of fluff under my mouse.

I have always wanted to buy this plane. Today I pondered that question again, Once again, I stalled in buying it, redeciding instead to watch videos about this plane (again) first. All because shortly after your video on it, a year ago, I heard You Tubers stating Gaijin had nerfed it and, it was no where near the plane it use to be. But, once again, gaijin, in the 1.79 patch buffed a lot of the Japanese premium planes - which I have been flying exclusively as of late.
Actually, it is between the A7M1 and the P-47 M premium. I only own one American premium plane and that is, the captured ki 61. I really do need a good American premium plane to compliment the American tree. Which do you suggest - the A7M1 or the P-47M?
Thats a hard choice, but since you only have 1 us premium and no tier IV i would say the P-47M.
Yeah, I agree. That is why I just bought it (P-47M), this afternoon. So far, a big disappointment. Fully upgraded and an expert crew in it and it flies like a plane right out of the factory with a basic crew.
Well, I broke down and bought the A7M1. I was so disappointed in the performance of the once mighty P-4M, that I went and bought the A7M2. No disappointment with that plane. Kicked butt with it. But I also put an ACE crew into it also which, I am sure helped. The P-47 I put an expert crew in so I do not believe the 2 point spread between expert and ACE had anything to do with the P-47 Ms performance. I think that is just Gaijin screwing around with the P-47s because of all the snowflakes bitching and complaining about how good the P-47 line was.
has there been a sneak nerf to the P-47 M then? its always been a beast for me.
It always ends up being that there is one person that hogs all of the kills, and the rest of the enemy team crashes, so it is actually very rare for me to get a kill while playing Japanese.
i've noticed the japanese teams doing very well as well, and for the crashes, they seem to happen more and more these days. at least 4-5 each match.
It could be the fact that my only teir 3 Japanese plane is a Ki-43 which is slow and not fully upgraded, so I'm not getting to the battle quick enough to take a kill lol. Trying to get the event vehicles, but I have many more teir 3 and 4 of other nations so I'm not too worried about playing Japan a lot.

I plan on putting a talisman on the Ki-94 event vehicle to grind out the tree. My friend has the N1K1-Ja and he says it is amazing and he is striving for the Ki-84, he has said many good things about the tree.

As you know from our discussion, I recently bought this plane due mainly over my frustration of the P-47 M. Nevertheless, I love this plane. Great buy. It really kicks butt. Anyone want to buy a useless P-47 M?
hehe, common man, the M is far from useless, sideclimb to 7-8k and you rule.
Are you aware, you did three videos in a row on the Bf 109 K4, over a year ago, and have not done an update. With all the changes to flight models I thought you might check it out again. Only one video on the K 4 is sufficient this time. :)

Great channel Jengar, keep up the good work. Re. spawncamping- I don't see why it has to be part of ab?? I'm sick of lev100 players slaughtering less experienced players as they spawn, where's the skill in that? Unfortunately it's always going to happen but it just ends up being a waste of time and becomes like wot.
Ty mate! not as they spawn, i dont do that, but flying over the spawn, i feel that it is normal AB practice, but maybe we should first establish what the definition is of spawncamping :)
Jengar when you are blown out of the sky before you have even had a chance to get your bearings or decide where you're going to go and before you have built up decent speed.

What control settings do you use?
Mouse and keyboard, default settings with the mouse, with 1800dpi. The major changes i have is throttle on left shift and control, positive and nagative pitch on s and w. and ruddercontrol on mousebuttons. flaps on f, gear on g, reload on r. camera on c. airbrakes on spacebar. rockets and bombs on mousebuttons. I have a razer naga.
