    Great to watch the full restoration video now. I had no idea that the tank had such a big dent before you sent it to me.

      Well, both buy stuff with german labelling. However, MyMechanics says switzerland in his video location where Mr. P says Frankfurt... Assuming that is correct, if it were the same 2 people that'd be a heck of a lot of driving to switch locations...

      .....cleaning is a big part of restoration. Robert Murray Smith went through the hassle of sandblasting too ,then did a video building and using a sand tumbler barrel to clean his parts , then built a vibratory box with sand and his concoction added . There's also the pressure water blaster that sucks up sand for cleaning which he also did . ..I've never seen those bronze cylinders with cracks , I'm wondering if it's exposure to extreme cold and also lack of necessary alloying agents in 1920s Germany .

    Nicely done...
    And nice cursive, too. Way back in 10th grade, in 1967, I stopped writing cursive and just began writing in block letters. Four years ago I decided to pick it up again. It's a lost "art". I'm glad you're still doing it.

    • @misterpatina
      @misterpatina  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Thomas!
      Thank you very much! I learned it in 1998 and always had fun doing it, but writing in block letters is just way faster. So everytime I „enjoy“ writing, I do the cursives. Guess they were used right for this special letter.
      Iam glad you appreciate it.
      Thanks.

    Hi Mister P, a tip when using the Oven. When turning it on, turn the temperature Controller on last, as part of the thermostat system, it is designed to handle the large currents turning on and off and similarly when turning off, turn it off first with the temp controller. The mode switch is not designed to switch the power on and off repeatedly.

    Loving the playful movement and little visual gags! When you started the “final but intense sanding”, I thought you were just playing with it vigorously and didn’t question it at all (I’d have done the same). MyMechanics brought me here and you’ve got a new subscriber!

    Я в восторге от мужчин с "золотыми" руками. Мне очень в жизни повезло, все мужчины, которые по жизни со мной (отец, брат, сыновья, муж) всё делают своими руками и сами. Но у этого человека мастерство высшего пилотажа. Смотрела не отрываясь.

      @@jorgevazquez4371 В России это называется денатурат . Смесь технического этилового спирта с этанолом и керосином . Используют для розжига костров, мыть детали , разбавления некоторых видов лаков и красок.
      Использовать в качестве топлива дорого , керосин намного лучше по всем показателям .

    Bumped into this by accident. We had one of these when I was a kid. Roadside picnics on the way to camping holidays in Cornwall or Wales, and on the beach with gritty butties.

    That little stove looks like it would come in handy on a camping trip or if there's a power outage at your house while you're preparing dinner. Or even a post-apocalyptic world with no electricity (heaven forbid). 😎👍

    Well, I’ll be darn skippied! I can’t believe I am just now learning that linseed oil could be baked onto metal that way to form a protective layer! It’s like finding out your car could fly after driving it for 8 years. That alone earned a sub. Beautiful work and collab! Hmm, I have a very similar old Swiss stove that I’m going to have to, shall we say... “re-examine”.

    • @misterpatina
      @misterpatina  3 роки тому +11

      Haha, very nice comparison! I agree, its pretty insane how much you can do with simple tools/materials. This process isnt too complicated, you just have to make sure that the metal is super clean before attaching the oil, and just attach a very thin layer. I did this 6 times, so it took about 25 hours to achieve this finish...and the wife was really mad, because the smell of the kitchen - so please be careful :-D
      Thanks for watching! :-)

      Mister Patina Oh my gosh! That’s hilarious! I’ve made my Mrs. angry more than a few times. I always blame it on the honey do list, but in truth it’s always a major deviation from this list. I can’t wait to see how angry she’ll be when I start blackening metal parts!
