Joshuas channel is perfect if you want to cook everything yourself but also pay restaurant price.
He has a but cheaper series
But Cheaper is fantastic.
But Better is... what you're talking about.
@@lebeccthecomputer6158 a but cheaper series that 90% of the time has some sort of black market hostage situation supposed prices on the stuff. i don't know what dirt he has on the meat industry to get half of the prices he gets on his meats for example.
@@VoermanIdiot he probably either bulk buys, knows a guy personally which can get you heavy discounts at times, maybe he found a good online meat market or as you said hostage situation
@@VoermanIdiot every military base has a commissary with $7 double packs of ny strips if you can somehow get on🫡
The one Joshua recipe where you don’t have to wait 3 and a half days just to make it lolll
I liked Josh's older stuff before he blew up a lot more. Don't get me wrong he's just playing the game so no hate, it's just his current stuff ain't for me.
@@draysmusicalshtposts6340 I just hate his "but better" series, it's like no shit making something at home with like quadruple the budget tastes better than ordering the item from a fast food place instead.
True but at least the food always tastes good.
@@THENAMEISQUICKMAN yeah, whenever he flexes on KFC (or any fast food), like... lol okay? There's a guy back there burning your chicken because he doesn't care and he wants to go home. Wow, a real chef can make tastier food with vastly superior ingredients and tons more time.
There’s a lot of recipes like that in the world
Josh be like: “did you know if you spend $3k and 4 hours of your time you can make a burger better than the Big Mac?”
I cook a ton, and I cook for 6+ people, and it is a similar price to ordering whilst being 10x better, as long as you have a deep fat frier. you guys just need to learn to shop better
u dont have to put every single expensive bougie ingredient that he puts inside his recipe dawg
I… don’t know what you’re doing, cuz i made his butter chicken for the week and it cost me like 50 bucks in ingredients
are you… like what are you doing wrong?
50 bucks canadian too
His cooking videos are most for spectacle and cooking theory.
I approach and have found success by finding interesting components of a recipe and incorporating those into existing, easier meals.
Also a kitchen is like a workshop - you won't have all this stuff on hand instantaneously. It takes years and years to build out these "toolbelts" for all these hobbies.
These things get easier to make if you continue to have a passion for cooking and a desire to try new recipes.
Frankly if you're looking at his chaluppa recipe and intending to go buy every single ingredient in it solely to make just those. You're doing it (cooking) kinda "wrong"
Every time i see a Joshua vid, i think about that goofy 4chan copypasta that goes: "Did you know if you use $350 worth of ingredients you can make something better than a teenager who gets paid minimum wage?" And the: "Wow, these minimum wage fast food workers did such a bad job! Im gonna cook it better!"
You've just described the ick I get from Joshua Weissman's videos sometimes when I watch them.
@@Storse bro the recipes are obviously for people that can afford it, if you cant dont get mad about it ☠️
If you think that's the point of the video - I think your blinded by saltiness.
No one is expecting you to make his big Mac version. It's a video more on food/cooking theory where components of which you can choose to incorporate to your general cooking.
Yall just mad that you can't spend the time and money to cook really good food that someone who's dedicated job it is todo so. Yall have unrealistic expectations lmao.
@Jabroni quit glazing him bro. He doesn't know you. And he doesn't know me. I'm not spending 3 hours to make a damn big mac
@@bananabanana1 my entire point is that no one is expecting you to and you're getting salty about it for nothing lol
It's a fun way to learn about how to cook through a medium that many of us are familiar with. Fast food.
I respect people like Josh but their recipes are very clearly for higher class SoCal people with money. It's so refreshing to see someone show how even with simpler or "cheaper" ingredients can still make the same thing and still taste way better than Taco Bell
He literally has a but cheaper series, this is but better
@@blorblin yeah and yet those recipes normally require a fortune with of ingredients that make it not worth the effort
@@blorblin but "cheaper" but its only cheaper if you already have all of the ingredients.
@@shawno8253buy the ingredients then use later 🤯 no way you guys go to a cooking channel with 0 items in your fridge
@@Timmy-mi2ef A lot of the ingredients are still not considered cheap for people who are low income lmao
I love how at multiple instructions he's just like "no, that's too much, I'm gonna do what regular people can do"
“Step #1: just automatically have $300 worth of ingredients and 4 hours of time to make a fucking chalupa.”
After a saw the Waygu, I thought Weisman isn't really expecting people to follow along lmao
I cook a ton, and I cook for 6+ people, and it is a similar price to ordering whilst being 10x better, as long as you have a deep fat frier. you guys just need to learn to shop better. Just replace the expensive ingredients with cheaper ingredients

@@mihaimercenarul7467 in a fun way
He’s been turning up the snobby pretentious chef schtick too much lately for my tastes. Dude’s really proud he can outcook fast food workers.
@@conaldeugenepeterson2147 they're talking about the uploader, not Joshua
joshua quickly got boring after the 8492nd weiner inuendo like the rest of youtube chefs
As a line cook your energy is how I feel about cooking food for myself at home most nights. In a landscape of content that makes me wanna drop ice in the deep fryer yours is a breath of fresh air ❤
Future is also a line cook! That makes sense y'all have the same energy when cooking for yourself at home
Every time Joshua opens the cabin, i always think that he has a hostage that he talks nonsense, and gives them the scraps of the food he made
Maybe that's how he gets his ludicrous food prices
I laughed waaay to hard at this
@@TheRiseofDub this is how I imagine it
Josh: "So today, I want to make a better version of a McDonald's Hamburger"
Hostage: *muffled screaming* HRRRMMM!!!! HRRRMMM!!! HRRRMMM!!
Love your vids
I miss it...
idk im romanian, i think that would translate to pig fat, onion and bread here
Came here to say this I will tolerate no jicama slanderrrr
It’s healthy cus it’s a vegetable and it’s filling and starchy. Lemon and tajin don’t have much calories but he’ll salt.
to me jicama kinda taste like carrot and potato hybrid lmao, it's also great in spring roll
I feel like Joshua Weissman straight up just doesn’t understand that most people don’t have specialized culinary skills and can’t execute his recipes in any type of realistic way. It’s an impressive show of his own skill, but I really dislike that he presents what he’s doing as “easy” and “affordable”and “just taking a little bit of extra time.”
His “easy and affordable” ways to create homemade versions of store products only make sense if you have a ton of free time, access to specialty ingredients, and built-up culinary skills. You know, like if you’re a chef.
Like, Josh, I’m not going to bake my own brioche hamburger buns for the burger I’m making for dinner. I don’t get home from work until 6:00pm. I can’t wait for yeasted dough to rise.
Josh has a weird personality. I dunno, the "papa no kiss" stuff and his strange R&B voice he uses to sing his ingredients sometimes... And yeah, many of his recipes require specialty equipment, special items, and also chef-level knife skills. It's not really a brag that he can cook the chalupa "But Better" than Taco Bell. That shit gets shipped frozen on a truck. And by the way, Taco Bell chalupas taste good. He always does this little performative thing I think is weird when he takes a bite and acts repulsed by something that millions of people eat regularly.
@@maxrosenbaum8502 tbf his entire thing is being the option for elitist cooks who want premium shit on yt but yh he can be alot
His recipes are honestly not that difficult if you’re willing to cut corners in some areas, like not making your own buns. I mainly use his recipes for advice on how to season and mix ingredients.
But honestly, my fiancée and I will occasionally make his enchiladas recipe to a T and it’s fucking fantastic. Takes forever, but it’s so good
@@maxrosenbaum8502 He reminds me a lot of Gale from Breaking Bad in the sense that he's a massive annoyance anytime he's on screen and he might have a thing for children.
@@coltonwilkie241 lol I don't know about the liking children thing, but he definitely acts the same as gaming streamers who constantly scream in their videos because they're producing their content for kids.
I still dont get why he flexes being able to cook better than minimum wage employees
Minimum wage employees don’t cook. They reheat.
It's like flexing your ability to walk on someone in a wheelchair. Like no shit. I expect a professional chef to be better than a 16 year old kid just trying to pay for their shitty school photos and weed.
@@saralc9hats only mostly right, 2 places I've worked at for minimum wage still had us cook. Popeye's marinaded, battered and fried all our chicken in store, the best you could say is the sides were boiled-in-bag amd the chicken pieces were pre-cut, but can you really say anyone who doesnt butcher their own chicken isnt cooking? The other was Little Ceasars, there we handmade the dough, hand mixed the sauce, and hand assembled the pizzas(even hand sauced the thin crusts since the saucing machine didnt fit them).
@@EdgeLie yeah, thats why I said the other guy was only mostly right, the other fast food joint I worked at was a burger place, and while they still actually grilled the patties, they were still frozen beforehand so idk if the other guy would argue its still jist reheating, the two examples I gave were just ones I knew were irrefutable.
He's an arrogant little twerp and is desperate for attention. Just like his amusing attempts at pushing the "papa" nickname to make himself feel more macho
This is hands down the best food channel and always cracks me up laughing. Your videos resonate with viewers because following a recipe rarely yields what's shown but the end product is still rewarding. Not a doubt in my mind your channel will blow up soon. Keep it up man!
I’ve always find it fascinating that he called American/Process Cheese “the fake stuff.” Yes, Kraft Singles and Velvetta are indeed “the fake stuff,” but Kraft Deli selects, Boars Head and Land O Lake (the latter two you get from the deli) are actually cheese since the main ingredient is cheese.
Also, why are soo many internet chefs fascinated with waygu beef? The most overpriced, overrated beef in the world.
Wagyu beef is more or less an art from Japan, nippon steel folded over a thousand times type. Idk what that chef bought but it surely ain't wagyu, some American imposter meat that probably 1% wagyu.
Its expensive and the name is recognized.
Its the cooking equivalent of the life advice youtuber pulling up in a lambo....
@@NoFlu here's how I bought a lambo by scamming a bunch of horny teens and getting really lucky. Now I can tell you it's easy and requires no luck so you can finance my 7th lambo.
Wagyu is amazing, but there is absolutely no purposae in grinding wagyu beef. Wagyu is all about the texture.
If someone throws Wagyu into a grinder, you know they hve too much money and want to show off.
@@groerhahn225 yeah, that most likely is low marbling score Australian Wagyu. If it is actually Japanese Wagyu, no way it is A4 (typical grade of Olive Wagyu) or A5 (THE Wagyu that everyone thinks about).
joshua weissman has got to be my least favourite food tuber, purely because he purports that all of these things are extremely easy and affordable to do and that everyone should do it, but in actuality he's stuck in a whole foods bubble and i'm stuck in my aldi nightmare
But he a funny funny man lol
He's weirdly snobby about being able to cook better than teenagers at fast food restaurants.
He also steals recipes. Like a lot
His humor is also really cringe

"When a food needs this much health appeal, you know it tastes bad" is so funny and true.
Your “generous amount of Trader Joe’s yogurt” line was fantastic and probably the most relatable part of this video. Do I ever in my life have the niche, considerably more quickly perishable sour cream laying around? No. Do I almost always have a suspiciously gigantic seemingly infinite jug of probiotic full fat yogurt at the bottom of my fridge? Undoubtedly yes. Great video I enjoyed thoroughly.
On what planet is sour cream niche?!? It’s a staple in a lot of houses mine included. I never have unflavored yogurt. Anyone that makes potato’s or tacos/bowls has sour cream. It’s also used in a lot of dips.
I tend to have sour cream because it does last a while fridged actually, and I have never once bought a jug of full fat probiotic yogurt lol
Maybe it’s just the household I live in but sour cream is a STAPLE topping on a particular traditional dish my family all love, so ofc we normally have a tub of it. It is purchased in the same frequency as milk and eggs.
I love the huge amount of energy you give in your vid

Messing up the proportions happens so often to me when i do half a recipe.😂😂😂
Jicama tastes like crunchy water with a la croix level of sweetness. its actually pretty good, in a kind of mild understated way.
Yep, just don't know why the hell Josh is trying it in tacos, so snooty
Who the actual FUCK uses jicama in tacos
Idk something about the texture has always reminded me of raw potatoes in a way I find somewhat off putting

Jicama is actually good, tastes and crunches like something between a pear and an apple.
Jicama tastes a bit like lettuce with a bit of apple. It has a texture that reminds me of carrots but airierIt’s nice with hot weather if you add some tajin and lemon. But if you don’t like fresh fruits and vegetables, you probably wouldn’t like it by itself. Though, if you slice it thin and fry it’s a low carb potato chip alternative

Never change man. You're awesome 👍👍👍
Did you know if you have a fully stocked kitchen with fresh ingredients, professional chef skills, and block out 30 minutes of time with no distractions, you too can prepare a delicious meal under $7 so long as don't factor preparation time and opertunity cost into your budget.
If you're worried about having a kitchen with basic every meal use ingredients like onions and flour, you're probably not in a position to be worrying about the opportunity cost of your time. Like you're not Bezos worrying about the time spent bending over to pick up $1,000 being a net loss. Time of course is the most valuable resource any human has, but only a small percentage of the population can actually treat it as such. Also there's a plethora of people out there that consider preparing and consuming a gourmet meal for themselves or others as a very good use of their time not a sunk cost they'll never get back.
