Cicak Kobeng This is me. If I feel comfortable in a group I can be very extroverted. However, I find that I have to observe the group if I don’t know anyone in it before I start to chime in. I just can’t jump into a conversation without checking first through observation to see if there are any other people in the group that I would feel comfortable talking with. Does that make sense to you?

I related to almost all of the signs. I used to think I'm anti-social or that people didn't like me. Now I understand that I'm an introvert that loves doing some things alone. And I love it. The problem is that all these keep me away from friendships, as people think I'm boring or so close. Maybe they're not able to know me very well because of this. I want to be myself and have a small group of friends that would accept me for who I am.

If I’m at a social get together, I’ve found it helps to know what time I’m going home, then I can relax more. I realised I was an introvert while I was attending a lecture on the topic. I’m a teacher, and the lecture was designed to help us understand introverted students better. I ended up understanding myself more clearly, as well. It certainly helps ease awkward situations, now I can put a name on the root of my anxiety, and can explain it to my family, colleagues and friends.
Tell me about it. I'm very opposite from my mum too! She's the kind that cannot keep quiet for a minute. I'm the kind that desperately needs quiet. And with the current COVID-19 situation, 99% of the time stuck home. In the past, used to only sees her 1-2hours or so. Now, it's 10 times or more from that! I'm starting to constantly lock myself in the room. Snaps easily. Up to several breakdowns each day. Before COVID-19, none of these happens. :'(
I’m an introvert and I hate talking to people. But I also hate texting or speaking with people on the phone. For example when someone texts me, unless it’s something urgent, I read the message and then mark as unread, because I don’t feel like continuing a conversation because I find it boring. Likewise, when an unknown number calls me, I never answer. I also get so offended when people I know call me without asking. I hate speaking on the phone. Just leave me alone! And if you need me so bad just leave me a text message And i will reply and that’s it, end of the conversation. Gosh I hate interacting with people so much. I only like people when I need something from them lol.

I find most companies have no idea how to deal with an introvert. You need to join in, you need to network , you need to ask. Not we should share information beyond our networking circle. But the again when they share more openly it all sales waffle that means nothing. I'm not interested and switch off. But what do you achieve...
Can definitely relate to this one. When I left my last employer under somewhat acrimonious conditions, I got into a discussion/argument with my boss who felt that I was an unfriendly person and not a good team player. I thought that was pure BS and told him so. When we both calmed down a little I told him that he seemed to expect me to be someone I’m not, i.e., that my true nature is somewhat introverted but he seemed to think that everyone should be an extrovert like him. This conversation confirmed to me that I made the right decision to leave this company. When he thanked me for staying on long enough to get through year-end fiscal closing and to train my replacement I told him (with very little to lose at this point) that the only reason I did it was for the money, not out of some sense of loyalty or affection for the company. For some reason, that didn’t go over very well 🤪🤪🤪
As an introvert, there's a few things here that are different from my case. 1. I don't write 2. I do sometimes enjoy a small talk even with strangers. 3. Small group of friends? No, i don't have any friends.
really difficult specially when the reason of your depression is your small group of friends . Well that was me since July but I'm glad it was gone around Octobe because class started so I was busy😀. ( It still attacks sometimes tho specially when I'm alone with my thoughts 😐.
Introverts don't get depressed easily And I as an introvert know I am not gonna depressed any time in life the reason is I don't need to think about others and most people get depressed due to this reason and introverts are actually not interested in it.

I love being an introvert!!! I've been through 2 toxic work environments and this is why I embrace being an introvert more than anything!! I enjoyed being home during the stay at home order because I didn't have to deal with toxic coworkers. Plus I was at peace working alone.
I'm an introvert, I hate social events and when in a crowd, I feel so sofisticated and can't wait to be alone in the comfort of my room. I am an introvert, but I do like going out to events that I am interested in. I also like to be with people and am energized by them only if I have good chemistry with them and we are talking about a serious subject with no small talk. I hate small talk. But being with people who I am not clicking with or they are just talking on a superficial level leads me to shut down. I feel lonely in these circumstances. I am fine though going to a movie or a sports event by myself. I enjoy the crowd and the excitement. I agree completely about having constant inner monologue going. In fact, when I am by myself and sometimes out, I talk to myself openly. I am just thinking out loud. I do practice interactions with people. Many times I can head off problems rehearsing a conversation or a presentation--by the way, I love public speaking. I prefer public speaking in front of a group of strangers to a casual conversation with people I don't know. I can control the interaction as I report on what I have thought through in private.
Number 9 is so true😭I hate when someone calls me shy. Ok I'm shy around people I don't know or I feel uncomfortable with. But If you know me and I feel comfortable around you I'm not very shy. Only because I'm quiet and not screaming around like everybody else doesn't mean I'm shy?🙄😂 Anyone relate?
This shit happens to me very often! Once my neighbour girl hold my hand and said why are you so shy. But I couldn't explain her so I just laughed and walked away.
I have never before felt tiredness when I go and approach any one (not family but still I know them) but recently I realized that I can't spend too much time with them and I thought it's because I'm sick or something but now I know why I felt like that👀
As an introvert, I'd have to say that, apart from the risk of dying from it, this Covid-19 has been a real boon for us introverts. I bet every one of us is just loving this self-isolation!

Like in a game I play I always get asked if I could give them my number or my Facebook and I’m totally freaked out because of that!! Like I first of all don’t know them and second I just don’t like it and I either ignore them or delete them!! I only do it with people I know the longest!! Oh it puts me in such an awkward situation!!
Yep, totally agree with all of that. As an introvert, the thing that freaks me out the most is the thought of having to cook for guests, which I don't do at all now. I USED to have dinner parties, cook for 8-10 people, but now the thought of that makes me almost want to go hide under the bed and pretend I'm not home! Maybe it's life's experiences that have turned me into an introvert, but I LOVE my solitude, and thankfully I live in a place that is so quiet you can almost hear the grass grow. I love it!

Being an introvert+depression is so hard when ur mum is an extrovert and doesn’t understand u so tries to push you into being an extrovert.
Tell me about it. I'm very opposite from my mum too! She's the kind that cannot keep quiet for a minute. I'm the kind that desperately needs quiet. And with the current COVID-19 situation, 99% of the time stuck home. In the past, used to only sees her 1-2hours or so. Now, it's 10 times or more from that! I'm starting to constantly lock myself in the room. Snaps easily. Up to several breakdowns each day.
Before COVID-19, none of these happens. :'(

I’m an introvert and I hate talking to people. But I also hate texting or speaking with people on the phone. For example when someone texts me, unless it’s something urgent, I read the message and then mark as unread, because I don’t feel like continuing a conversation because I find it boring. Likewise, when an unknown number calls me, I never answer. I also get so offended when people I know call me without asking. I hate speaking on the phone. Just leave me alone! And if you need me so bad just leave me a text message
And i will reply and that’s it, end of the conversation. Gosh I hate interacting with people so much. I only like people when I need something from them lol.

I’m an introvert through and through. I could literally spend days by myself and I feel my energy being replenish. When I’m around people for long it’s so exhausting

The worst part of being an introvert is when people assume you an extrovert and treat you like one.
I find most companies have no idea how to deal with an introvert. You need to join in, you need to network , you need to ask. Not we should share information beyond our networking circle.
But the again when they share more openly it all sales waffle that means nothing. I'm not interested and switch off. But what do you achieve...
Also the worst part of being an introvert is when you have an extroverted family that’s loud and you can’t recharge the way you like to. 😞

When I left my last employer under somewhat acrimonious conditions, I got into a discussion/argument with my boss who felt that I was an unfriendly person and not a good team player. I thought that was pure BS and told him so. When we both calmed down a little I told him that he seemed to expect me to be someone I’m not, i.e., that my true nature is somewhat introverted but he seemed to think that everyone should be an extrovert like him.
This conversation confirmed to me that I made the right decision to leave this company. When he thanked me for staying on long enough to get through year-end fiscal closing and to train my replacement I told him (with very little to lose at this point) that the only reason I did it was for the money, not out of some sense of loyalty or affection for the company. For some reason, that didn’t go over very well 🤪🤪🤪

As an introvert, there's a few things here that are different from my case.
1. I don't write
2. I do sometimes enjoy a small talk even with strangers.
3. Small group of friends? No, i don't have any friends.
I can count the number of friends I have. Plus I don't know how to make friends.but I write and I just spend the whole week alone.

Well that was me since July but I'm glad it was gone around Octobe because class started so I was busy😀. ( It still attacks sometimes tho specially when I'm alone with my thoughts 😐.

And I as an introvert know I am not gonna depressed any time in life the reason is I don't need to think about others and most people get depressed due to this reason and introverts are actually not interested in it.

I love being an introvert!!! I've been through 2 toxic work environments and this is why I embrace being an introvert more than anything!! I enjoyed being home during the stay at home order because I didn't have to deal with toxic coworkers. Plus I was at peace working alone.

I am an introvert, but I do like going out to events that I am interested in. I also like to be with people and am energized by them only if I have good chemistry with them and we are talking about a serious subject with no small talk. I hate small talk. But being with people who I am not clicking with or they are just talking on a superficial level leads me to shut down. I feel lonely in these circumstances. I am fine though going to a movie or a sports event by myself. I enjoy the crowd and the excitement.
I agree completely about having constant inner monologue going. In fact, when I am by myself and sometimes out, I talk to myself openly. I am just thinking out loud. I do practice interactions with people. Many times I can head off problems rehearsing a conversation or a presentation--by the way, I love public speaking. I prefer public speaking in front of a group of strangers to a casual conversation with people I don't know. I can control the interaction as I report on what I have thought through in private.

I have never before felt tiredness when I go and approach any one (not family but still I know them) but recently I realized that I can't spend too much time with them and I thought it's because I'm sick or something but now I know why I felt like that👀

Like in a game I play I always get asked if I could give them my number or my Facebook and I’m totally freaked out because of that!! Like I first of all don’t know them and second I just don’t like it and I either ignore them or delete them!! I only do it with people I know the longest!! Oh it puts me in such an awkward situation!!

Yep, totally agree with all of that. As an introvert, the thing that freaks me out the most is the thought of having to cook for guests, which I don't do at all now. I USED to have dinner parties, cook for 8-10 people, but now the thought of that makes me almost want to go hide under the bed and pretend I'm not home! Maybe it's life's experiences that have turned me into an introvert, but I LOVE my solitude, and thankfully I live in a place that is so quiet you can almost hear the grass grow. I love it!
