I really love the trust that Capcom and SNK have in each other to allow creative license with each others' characters. CvS2 was a masterwork of adapting SNK characters to a six-button system, it worked remarkably. Then when SNK basically conceptualized Violent Ken as an in-game character, Capcom respected and adopted their design when it came time for Ultra Street Fighter II. Mai could become really interesting from this perspective.
I guess a huge part of having a guest character is that it's a built in advertisement for the collaborator's own game. So you have to use the more iconic and marketable look for Guests so people can recognise them and associate them more easily with their original IP
It blew my mind!!! The amount of references and their choice of moves is just crazy! They didn't wanna miss anything! Its their first guest character and its terry they don't wanna mess it up! Kudos to them! Nakayama san said his fav fighting game is real bout fatal fury 2 and it shows!! They respected the hell out of Terry!! They even included a combo thats literally only on dominated mind PS1 port of FFS!!! This shows they wanted to do him justice with all the references and attacks! the team of SF are fans of fatal fury and man the animation and effects on all these iconic attacks is INSANE! I am 100% sure they will make mai have even her most obscure attacks from old FF 😂🔥 she will be amazing! SF needed guest characters to make the game reach even more heights on popularity and hype! I can't imagine anyone seeing this and say we just want SF characters because Terry so far had the best reactions and hype! Even tho bison is amazing in 6 but most ppl were like oh ok bison but with guest characters "every now and then" makes the game even more exciting like how it happened in T7! Especially Terry and Mai aren't out of place in SF world! Also the inclusion of pao pai cafe is just crazy 😂😂😂 remember it since KOF94! someone in gamescom said there's a flying Kim too 😂😂😂😂
I honestly feel the reason Capcom released 2 guest characters in same season from SNK was to help SNK market the release of Fatal Fury City of the Wolves, like a sign of respect for them.
@@FenixPajarito That's kind of my point that you're over there reinforcing. In conjunction with how ridiculous it is the character looks better in another game.
On 20:45 when (he pause back & punches again) i think the word you were looking for is ( charging ) he gives you that feeling that he is charging for the punch .
Hopefully, we'll get to see C. Viper, Sakura, Sean, and or Ibuki. Who knows, As much as I am happy to see two of my favorite guest characters (SNK)in this second season I hope in season three they keep it related to the SF universe.
Not surprised Mary looks buff. Someone at the SF6 team is a fan of toned ladies Cammy is the obvious one, but Kim, Manon, and even Chun have washboard abs. They also like bakery, but that's a different story. Mai might get a downgrade in bust size, but I wouldn't worry about the rest of her "kit".
There is no way that Bengus has been doing all the in-game artwork for SF6. It's multiple artists, including Shinkiro. BTW James, I'm with you on CvS2 being my favourite versions of many SNK characters, not just in how they look, but how they _sound_ . Despite the fact that CvS Terry's voice is the same voice he had from 1991 - 2010, CvS1/2 is the version that sounds the best to me and the one I compare all others to. Perhaps the biggest difference in presentation to me is Rugal: CvSs Rugal looks and sounds incredibly awesome, like a proper _boss_ . All the KoF Rugals, by comparison, look and sound like thugs. It's really striking that they sound so different, since it's the same voice actor in both.
She won't look anime like. That alone will take time getting used to. But if you got used to Cammy, Juri, and Chun, I'm sure the same will hold true for Mai. Plus, nothing does jiggle and muscle definition better than the RE engine, so there will be an upside.
@@mappybc6097 All the current character's face is very good exept Chunli. Even Aki face is creepier but still it looks good. But Terry face is just weird, like unnatural. Even worst is his smile. It would be OK only if this character is a villian. If Mai's face quality is on par with Cammy, then I am happy!
I'm glad to hear someone agree that it should be 6 characters per season. I hope you're right about Mai in the December/January timeframe because another soul crushing gap like between A.K.I. and Ed will massively disappoint me.
I think that the DLC takes a lot more effort in SF6 than it did in SFV. Some have said the World Tour stuff shouldn’t be that big of an addition to timeframe, but it might just be how detailed and balanced the characters come out, that they are putting in more effort and perhaps their experiences in SFV proved that the DLC was too rushed. Whatever the case is, I’m sad we don’t get as many characters as before. But if they are as high quality as all the DLC we’ve gotten thus far, hard to be really mad.
They are of very high quality and I very much appreciate it. I just feel like the development of Season 1 being 4 characters was because they were also making the base game characters and World Tour and everything. They aren't currently creating, modeling, balancing, and making extra content for 18-22 characters together. Though we saw from the Ed build at Capcom Cup that he had some unfinished polish like his Round Win voicelines not cutting off when skipping the animation, so it could be that they've put in more effort than they expected. They're working on the characters practically all the way to release so they probably haven't had the opportunity to build up a "backlog" of characters to pump a season with. Still, if it was even 5 characters I would've been much happier with this season, and Terry and Mai's inclusion in the same season wouldn't feel as much like we're missing something impactfully Street Fighter that we should've gotten this season.
There’s nothing ultra realistic about CvS’s graphics. O_o Also, while the characters in XII/XIII look very good, they are really hit and miss. Also, the nature by which they were created also prevented a lot of standard animation techniques like stretching and such, so there is a little lacking on the sprites. I prefer the hand-drawn nature of CvS and CvS2.
Terry would 100% take a cab to Metro City as soon as he heard about all the street fighting going on.

I would honestly call it a win win, look at the power of attraction Terry has, even street fighter purists are excited!
Nah, it's to prep us for Capcom vs snk 3
Terrys animations look better in this game than his own game.
More fluid and that's crazy.
😂😂 That's because Street Fighter 6 engine is more realistic.

I think the point is that moves are more telegraphed and physics aware in this game than most 2D games are.
Man f In the chat for the people that don't like this fighting game 🐐
Great! Tung Fu Rue, one of Terry's masters is in the ground on the opening of the intro.

34:08 This was my wish as well. So hopefully we will get an original Capcom design for Terry with his third outfit.
Awesone love James Chen and his reactions and inputs. Very awesome

James did u see the Capcom Fighting Collection 2?
I see Andy. He's the blonde dude on stage playing the guitar.
I just hope they dont mess up Mai's face.

So now male players want pretty face fighters lol ... 😂
This proves that id rsther have capcom make a cvs 3 rather than a svc 2. I always prefer how capcom games feel
James will be saying "children of the wolves" until the end of time lmao
I’ll never be able to fix it. LOLOL!

Chin Gentsai on the ground in the beginning after dude got hit lol
That actually turned out to be Tung Fu Rue. Chin is official KOF canon, and theoretically this Terry is from Fatal Fury canon.
Face still weird
slow your roll James, SNK characters look the best in KOF 12 and 13 and its not even close. Screw ultra realistic graphics.

For some characters, yeah, but Terry in KOF 12 / 13 looked really terrible. Like a big brute, and most of his moveset gone.
