How could he be so good at 17 years old even if he started off on drum, so you can't even say he has been playing since he was 6 like those "prodigy kids", damn dude, this man was a pure legend
he was actually a prodigy, but only realized what he was good at older. If he played guitar earlier in his lifer, results would be the same. Eloy Casagrande of Sepultura played drums at 14 like like an adult with 20 years of practice
Who else is here in 2024? I'm playing the guitar since '96. Around '99 I started to listen to Pantera Through the years Dimebag became and is still, one of the most influent guitarist in my all life. Getcha Pull!!!
Dime was the main reason why I liked Pantera in the first place. His solos and pitch squeal harmonics really made the guitar come alive and give the impression that the instrument had a soul of its own! Dime was a prodigy during his youth and is now immortalized in the history of heavy metal and the hearts of his fans worldwide.
I was never a Pantera fan because the vocal style was too hard for me. I was into all the metal guitar gods, though-Lynch, DeMartini, Vandenberg, all of the Ozzy gunslingers etc. so it wasnt until after Darrell past that i realized that he was just as good as any of those guys. All of the playing on this vid is amazing. Exactly what i'm into. He blows me away with his sense of melody. It's not just 500 mph triplets and pull-offs. What a talent. RIP D.
R.I.P Dimebag Darrell, Vinnie Paul, Cliff Burton, Randy Rhoads, Jeff Hanneman, Chuck Schuldiner, Layne Staley, Ronnie James Dio, Lemmy Kilmister, Eddie Van Halen......Still Rocking In a Insane Band, in the South Of Heaven \m/
Indeed it's a tribute. I wanted the thousands of people who have never heard his early solo's to hear the raw talant Darrell had. He Was one of a kind that will probably never another of, and that goes for his personality as well as his guitaring.
All the great people get snuffed out. I was 19 year's old when Dimebag got Killed. Ironically, I was looking on the computer to buy a Dean or Washburn ML. That always creeps me out man. The next morning I woke up to get ready for work and I see that video playing over and over of that as$hole storming the stage and that was it. The part that really hit me hard was that night, I got Pantera Cowboys From Hell playing on my CD Player. And, holding a unused Pantera Ticket to the Hard rock Kitty opening up on 10/11/2000 in Orlando Florida. To make a long story short, my lying no good friend Shane said, if I got a ticket to the concert he would pick me up with his brother Luke. Well after School I called him up and asked him what time would he be over to pick me up. And his exact words were "Sorry man, the cars full later!". And hung up on me. Well I was pissed so being 15 at the time I asked my mom if my dad could drop me off and wait till the show was over and, than drive me back home. My dad said sure son, make sure it's okay with your mom. And she asked what the name of the band was and I said Pantera And she said No! I'm not letting you go alone to a Pantera concert by yourself. I should have lied and, said Poison or Winger some other soft band name. So, The next day at school that fake, crappy friend came up to me and told me how good the show was and, what some of the songs on the set list was. I wanted to deck Shane right there and spit on him. Instead I said cool man, I bet you had ALot of fun. Don't ever trust anyone, especially a friend. I learned my lesson. I don't have any friends. Rest In Piece Dimebag Darrell Abbott and Vinny Paul Abbott.
He was prime in guitar skill when he was Diamond, but he had the perfect taste of music when he was Dimebag, where he cooked all the notes perfectly for the groove metal genre. What really made him really remembered is how he good played live either as Diamond or Dimebag.
It's still so weird to me, having known him not as a close friend but still....anyway, yeah I hear some of this stuff and i know it like it was yesterday. I have all the early stuff....I play it from time to time, thanks for posting this brotha
Great video, great mix of pictures and music. I've been a Dime fan long before the tragedy, miss him, his music, and his great personality all the time.
I love the stuff on "I Am The Night" personally...but all this stuff is great too. You can hear how he became the guitar god he was and always will be.
best tribute ive ever seen to dimebag well done. dimebag u shud be friking god cos ur better thn god and ur mortal so fuck god ur taking his place. fuck yeah R.I.P dimebag!
@iChugCoffee I collect them. I have a bunch more now, ready for the next volume to this video.. Most are available on the web, though some are hard to find.
I'd suggest either ebay or just download them from a torrent site, as they are not available anywhere in non bootleg form unless on LP as far as I know. I bought cd's off ebay in 1999 and they are bootlegs.
Dimebag is the most underrated solo/lead guitarist in history. Easily, and without question, the BEST lead guitarist of my life time, just like TRUMP is the best PRESIDENT of my life time. And yes, I'm drunk enough to say it, because it's true, and you all know it.

He had a good learning strategy!;)

i simply can't recognize that dude;he changed so much through the years
It's his signature goatie that most people associated with Dime Bag. He is pretty much unrecognisable without it.

I know it’s been 13 years but I feel the same
@@chungusmcnungus4667this year will be 20 years
@chungusmcnungus4667 seems you put this comment in 2022 or 2023 so it would be 19 or 18 years not 13..
R.I.P Dimebag Darrell, Vinnie Paul, Cliff Burton, Randy Rhoads, Jeff Hanneman, Chuck Schuldiner, Layne Staley, Ronnie James Dio, Lemmy Kilmister, Eddie Van Halen......Still Rocking In a Insane Band, in the South Of Heaven \m/

Sorry to hear that my brother. Dime was the greatest and It's a shame Shane was such a DICK.
He was prime in guitar skill when he was Diamond, but he had the perfect taste of music when he was Dimebag, where he cooked all the notes perfectly for the groove metal genre. What really made him really remembered is how he good played live either as Diamond or Dimebag.
It's called "out for blood" off "projects In The Jungle"

One of his Washburns is at the Hard Rock Cafe in Houston. I saw it a few weeks ago.

Y’know if it was really about celebrating the boys 🤷🏼
Yes it is. he never got to see a finished one, though, sadly.
It's housed at the dean guitars headquarters in tampa florida, at least some of it is.
8:35 Amazing!
I'm 45 I think and Daryl's solos from when he was 18 are still better than mine. I got some smoking riffs though...
Do you post your guitar shit?
It's called "Taking My life", the last song on projects in the jungle.
PANTERA RULES because of Dime!
Before 2:45 sounds like drag the waters lead section. Kinda rad

I collect them. I have a bunch more now, ready for the next volume to this video..
Most are available on the web, though some are hard to find.
Did Darrell have a natural 'fro that he later straightened, or did he have straight hair that he permed when he was young?
neobes he just let it grow and as it git heavier it flattened
He picked it out when he was young. Like, with a 'fro pick.
