I just want to point out that you don't need either. backing soda did nothing and the oil probably gave the tire a lil shine. if you ask me that stuffs expensive. get a scotch pad and water and scrub till you see black in the water. you'll remove the brown layer revealing fresh black rubber. Throw in some simple green or dish soap for really bad tires. and if tire shine is your thing use it or cooking oil or whatever lol

Dressing is OK on side walls. NOT OK on the tread, unless you don't lean very far.

@@joemann7971 Nah man. Tire shine slings. The best thing to do is clean the tires really good with degreaser and if it's not black enough then apply water dressing then degrease them again. It's going to look brand new.

@@dejon6759 you're supposed to wipe off the excess as well. If you're leaving a nice coat of it on the tires, then yeah, its going to sling. They won't look as shiny but they still look nice and no danger as long as you wipe it off.

@@WinS0me1 put it richly on the tire and it will somehow go into the material. So in 5 minutes its dry (so will not attract sand) and looking way better. I did it 3 times on 1 tire for a better result.
