Carlin's material is considered one of the deepest, most subtle and intelligent amongst comedians. He was definetly a bright philosopher. And yet your arguments state that his stuff isn't intelligent enough. Regarding Irish or Australian comedians being of superior intellectuality, I cannot really debate that since I'm not familiar with any.
This video cut off before he got to the bit about how he has a moment of muffled conversation for those treated and released. A line that I have been using for decades. I think this was from 1986 or so.
@jonjescabar Carlin's comedy had its evolution. A lot of shows are up on UA-cam and they vary, so better watch them out before making final judgment. You talk of little things in life - check his Jamming In New York and It's Bad For Ya shows.
@jonjescabar to expand on your last line, "everyone is so familiar with these things now" in great part thanks to him and others like Lenny Bruce and Bill Hicks and Richard Pryor.... please add more from other countries so we can see the bigger picture here.
@jonjescabar you mean small things like when you want to buy a "hot water heater"? Or why airline companies call 2 planes almost coliding a "near miss"? As for your understanding of "sharp wit". I know many people, even rappers, who have extra sharp wits, but they could not just talk you into laughing for an hour straight. Wit is part of the arsenal, not the only weapon. Thanks for the tip on Dylan Moran, though.
@jonjescabar Please name some of the other comics you do admire. Help a reader set the benchmark for your understanding of comedy, if such is the point of your comment. Just mentioning countries where comedy is presented in a different manner does not qualify. He is an US comedian in the US, writing for US citizens. He is clear about what he thinks fo US sense of humour and its intended audience. In sum, did you laugh at his jokes, at his presentation of same, or at him. If you did, then he won
@jonjescabar Once we get to the 3rd reply, it's starting being a convo in the comments section and that's just silly. Fortunately, while you do make a point, you made no sense in accusing me of being presumptuous when, if anyone, you were with your comment. Thus I lose interest in arguing with you. Fortunately, indeed.
As a Bolivian I am always happy to hear about Bolivia in the mainstream media 😆 Love George

He was a visionary. So ahead of his time. His political stuff is spot on. You'd think he performed some of his skits yesterday.
