I just bought an open box one for $22 and I absolutely love it. I put my Art Bell radio programs on a SD card and play it through the radio. Love the sound on it.
This is truly an innovative military theme AM/FM/SW/WB radio with Bluetooth & MP3 player with a great sounding speaker! It's full of useful features and it is a dancing LED display machine indeed! I like it and I just might have to get one!
The thing that stinks about those odd batteries is because if say ten years down the line you can’t find a new battery anywhere because they changed the model or whatever... rendering the whole radio useless... whereas a standard battery such as AA or AAA will still usually be accessible...
I hope the AAA is phased out except where it's absolutely needed. Powering personal devices with them is counterproductive when you get less than half the capacity of the AA and still pay the AA price. It's wasteful and irresponsible to design so many gadgets that use them.
The real negative (no pun intended) about the Nokia-style battery is limited life. Although some spec up to 1200 mah, they really only provide around 1000 mah. You'll definitely want a backup, and a charger is preferred/suggested.
I bought a Raddy RF750 from the dutch Amazon website. It is still sold for under 38 euros. It is a great neat little device but you can better save your money and go for a Tecsun PL330 or a XHDATA D808 which are shortwave radios under a 100 dollars that also have SSB! But the Raddy is a BT speaker and also a MicroSD MP3 player. Also you can for the price of one Raddy buy 2 XHDATA D912 shortwave radios. Thanks for the review Eric!
Looks like a fun little radio, easy to use. Costs about £25 right now. For about £55 you can get the Tecsun PL-330, which is a whole different animal that closely compares with bigger units costing £250-£350. £15 buys a nice AM wire or coil antenna. So spend a little more & you have a hugely superior radio, but this one is tempting anyway because it just makes you smile.
While I personally truly appreciate the rechargeable batteries, I can also understand when you lose charge on it and can’t find a suitable replacement. Some like the convenience of a simple battery replacement rather than waiting for it to charge unless you have multiple batteries ( whichever one you use [BL5C/18650]) to keep charged. I do sometimes like to scan the medium wave band and shortwave a lot. I very seldom if ever listen to FM.
Best case scenario is a rechargeable version of a common battery. Love my rechargeable 18650 powered Streamlight flashlights. Replacements (rechargeable or not) are easy to find/ stockpile. Just swap it if you can’t find power.
I like the tiny rechargeable batteries, but the problem with them is that that they are not uniform size. Finding a replacement or swapping one out for a fully charged one is not so easy. You have to order/find one of the exact same size & voltage.

Exactly in an emergency you're better off to have standardized power. You have more chances of getting double or triple A batteries than something proprietary.
Yep that’s why most of my emergency gear either runs off of rechargeable AA’s or when necessary 18650’s. I keep extra batteries with my stuff also and check that they are charged before (or if I forget, during) hurricane season.
How cool, I agree with you, going through packs of double or tripple "A's" kinda sucks and gets expensive. That radio is friggen small, I think its a bit too small for my liking and fat fingers but still a cool looking reciever!😏👍⚡⚡
I saw this little radio and fell in love with it. I have one on the way, but haven't received it yet. Thank you for the great unbiased report. I am wondering if the USB-C port cannot be used as a headphone jack, with the appropriate dongle cable or USB-C headphones. I have to have a dongle with my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra to breakout to a 3.5mm headphone jack or can use special USB-C headphones. Since I already have plenty of headphones with a 3.5mm plug it is simple to order a $5 adapter dongle. I love the fact that this has rechargeable battery pack. I understand this pack is readily available to order and is fairly inexpensive. I plan to stock a couple of extras and keep them charged. Again, thank you for the unbiased and great report on this little powerhouse.
Medium wave. That’s AM. Most people who have an issue with rechargeable batteries generally it is because they aren’t easily user replaceable. Rechargeable batteries just like any other battery, have a life span. If it took regular AAs on the other hand they can be easily removed and replaced. Even if they are replaceable but they’re some proprietary battery size, some time down the line you might not be able to find them and then you’re out of luck. Me, I like my Tecsun PL-660. It takes AA’a but also has a built in charger so it can charge NIMH AA’s. The best of both options. Rechargeable AND easily replaceable.
Years ago I paid 367 dollars for a shortwave radio. I had to use outside antenna. Then I paid 79 dollars for one and it picked up better than the more expensive one. Strange but true.
@@FarpointFarms Based on your video I bought one, it is looks very cool, it will be here in a day and know I'll like it. I previously bought a Tecsun R9012 because of the analog tuning dial it also has. I also picked up your recommendation of the MLA-30 Shortwave Loop antenna. I use it with a RTL-SDR USB SW adapter. It works extremely well. I picked up a very faint station that was airing old TV shows. It must have been to places that had no broadcast video. You would hear the audio portion of the show, like an episode of Star Trek, but there would be an MC's voice explaining what was happening on screen.
I've got one of these. I just want so badly for it to be a little more...robust? Like a metal body or something. Maybe I have some sort of unconscious preference for heft. I'd also like a headphone jack. But considering, it's fun, I take it outside with me when I'm doing projects. It's just so cool looking. I have yet to use the wire antenna.
I got mine today. We live in a downtown area and even my wife, who could care less about this stuff said the quality of the speaker was amazing with the FM stations. Thank you, this thing is cool.
To all the battery complaints: you can solder in any 3.7v li po you like or even change connector to a quadcopter 3.7v batt. Takes 5mins. U can also just use power bank and usb cord. Stop bitching
...until they don’t make any more of that type of battery a few years down the line... rendering the whole radio useless... just sayin I’m glad the radio that I found in my grandpa’s attic was standard AA instead of something I was not able to buy anymore.
Great presentation. But the thing is too small. Is smaller better? Is it really a two-handed operation? It seems it would not feel good in the hand or in the pocket.
I love rechargeable batteries especially when it's solar and it recharges them by the way question on your Midland to a radio can you use a CB antenna for that
Have a question I can't find an answer to.. I just bought a Eton 750, and it has a place for a FM, a SW and a MW-LW antenna. Do I need a different antenna for each one? On a radio that only has a standard antenna, a clip-on wire works for everything, so is a bit confusing.
You can charge the battery with a power bank, much like charging your celfone while traveling. Similarly I love how mirrorless camera nowadays could be charged inside my bag with a high capacity powerbank during field outdoor photoshoots in remote area where no AC outlets are available to plug in the charger. It comes in handy when you need it most, compared to when you need to buy fresh alkaline AA batteries. Recharging batteries via solar panel makes it a true essence of "prepper" prepping up during emergencies and doomsday scenarios haha! No downside for me using those rechargeable lithium ion battery packs.
if one of the major reasons for these radios is if there is a disaster and no power - then when the rechargeable battery runs out they become useless. At the very least get one that is solar or crank.
The 760 says it has SSB operation and a few of the model were released but evidently there were other, and bigger, issues so distribution was halted....for now.
The volume button is too small. Hard to grip. The display is too small. Hard to read. What was the point of this radio? To make a radio as small as possible? That is a turn off. It's more of a fancy gimmick or toy.

The Raddy FR-750 pocket portable has I believe a 40 mm heavy duty magnet speaker!
No headphone jack! But I’m sold on it nonetheless.
I am 100% all about the retro look of that dial!
the retro looks brings back many good memories
Also the battery is a common Nokia cell phone battery with the same V&A as small drone batteries.

You can always have the battery rebuilt at a place like Batteries Plus. They did one for my A/C Sniffer a year or so back.
