Every battle droid in star wars: Well there was this one b1 And this other b1 And another b1 from this one from this one episode And this other one from….
Jedi Power Battles not only introduced the Grapple Droid but also 4 other droid variants. The Flame Battle Droid which had orange markings and big gauntlet like arms equipped with flame throwers, the very tall Plasma Battle Droid which had green markings and like the Flame droid had big gauntlet like arms that launched bolts of plasma, Grapple Destroyer droids which were in essence like the Grapple Battle Droid but in Destroyer Droid form, the T4 Turret droid which walked on 4 spider like legs, and was equipped with rotating laser arms as well as a long laser sight weapon that acted similar to a lightsaber. The game also introduced us to the gigantic Loader Droid which was armed with two swinging arms and a flat head that could be used as a batter ram. Also in the Expanded Universe the Empire employed two droid starfighter variants, one being the fully automated TIE Fighter known as the TIE Droid and the other being dubbed and the other being the Shadow Droid which employed surgically implanted organic brains (usually that of grievously wounded, dead or incapacitated TIE pilot aces) rather than an AI CPU. Both were created by Emperor Palpatine.
The best Droids in Star Wars (Military): 1- IG-100 Magnaguard, the jedi killer deserves top 1, i mean, a droid that can duel with a jedi, normal troopers couldn't defeat one of them. 2- BX Commando Droid, i don't have a lot to say, they was able to defeat multiple troopers, and in Jedi Survivor, we can see they're really stronger than Purge Troopers in meele combat. 3- DT Sentry Droid, this walking tank is just overpowered, a single unit can handle a battle for a lot of time. 4- Droideka, only granades could take those monsters down. 5- Dark Trooper, those guys are really strong, able to fly and can tank blasters. 6- B2 Super Battle Droid, we all know them. 7- Super Tactical Droid, they was skilled in combat but mainly used for strategy and tactics, deserves a place in the tier list. 8- B1 Battle Droid, they are underrated, they was effective against regular troopers, most because of their numbers. 9- Vulture Droid, well, a ship. 10- KX Security Droid, this imperial droid was really strong, not like a DT but effective as a guard.
Very great video! I love clear cut videos like this, which mention every specific unit in easily defined sections. Its very neat & tidy. A few things I want to mention: The unknown vulture droid variant mentioned at 9:23 personally I refer to that type of vulture droid as a “Hunter vulture droid”, since it appears adept at stalking and tracking targets, much in the same way a Hunter tracks their prey. The dwarf spider droid also can also be equipped with a flamethrower, and a heavier blaster cannon than standard. Lastly, there are some droids you didn’t mention, such as the LIN demolition mech, imperial infiltrator droid, and the ID-10 seeker droid. Additionally there’s a bunch of in combat support droids that I can think of, such as the PK series working droid & FX series medical assistant droid. However those units are unarmed, and as such shouldn’t be included. They only provide support in battle. Awesome video! Keep up the great work!
For the Rocket Droid in the mobile game, the footage and images could also be borrowed from Star Wars Battlefront I & II since there was a trooper class that included Rocket Launchers.
Great video, don’t mean to be that guy but you forgot the Infiltrator droids from Rebels. The type that Zeb, Chopper and AP-5 fought against in that one episode
1:01 God what a terrible sight...being in that terrible situation. Hunting escape pods has the same energy as shooting parachutes. Absolutely tragic, RIP CLONES.
I really do hope that we see the Dark Troopers again sometime soon; maybe it's possible that Moff Gideon sent the schematics for the Dark Trooper model to Thrawn???
The colossus had its own security droid, which were either blue or black, and had either 2 or 4 wrist laser cannons. I also love the N5 sentry and that R1 like security droid.
Star wars Rebel, there was a bule green robot which was essentially harmless in scout mood, but transforms into assassin. It had a self destructive bomb build in.
Star wars commander, omg i love that game so much, so much nostalgia. Its a shame it doesn't exist anymore, i just gotted Darth Vader to lvl 7 and he was a monster with the modification "501st legion", its was so broken.
Great list! I thought though that since the Buzz Droid was included, so too might be the Scav Droid from the High Republic era. Maybe it's out of scope since it's a scavenger tool being misused for combat, but the Nihil use it so much in their raids that I thought it might count.
I was surprised to find out that the B2's in the Clone Wars show are actually a different model rather then simple artistic licence. I also wish we got to see the Grapple Droid varient onscreen. They were always my favourite.

There is another BX series commando droid that wasn't seen much or even put into comic issues, the BX2 super commando droid was also produced late in the clone wars, even though 40 units were ready to deploy not much were used before the clone wars end and after the clone wars most of them were put into storage by the empire and some were taken by pirates or smugglers.
I learnt about Mr Bones yesterday whilst playing Skywalker saga, and he is already my favorite droid in all of Star Wars (right behind Grievous if he counts)
For the record, battle droids were really effective. Sure, they are dead meat if near a Jedi, but they almost massacred the Gungans on Naboo. Their versatility made them a good model of droid for numerous reasons, one is that they compose most of the CIS' army. The reason the CIS lost was because of Darth Sidious pulling the strings.
This video is missing the Droideka MKII, which was a massive upgrade to the original, with stronger blaster cannons, thicker armor for protection while rolling AND ion cannons. It was produced too late play a role in the Clone Wars. One of their factories was discovered by criminal elements during the civil war and re-enabled, though. Also, the Phase II Dark Trooper showcased in Empire at War is my favourite imperial droid. It's just a massive stormtrooper triple the size of a man, holding a massive laser cannon usually only seen on tanks and heavy fighters.
@Star Wars Explained This is a very interesting video: however, there are a couple you’ve missed: a dark trooper variant, and the droideka mk2 from the game Star Wars empire at war forces of corruption.
A good video with a lot of content. Only thing I have to add is that I think you forgot to mention the B1 also had a sniper variant. It had no defining coloring as far as I remember (possibly to help them blend in with the regular B1 droids in battle) but they were modified to enable them better accuracy with their sniper rifles.
I never get why B1 battle droids were thrown away, maybe it's illegal but pirates or scavengers could easily use them for protection or sell them on the black market, for A LOT of credits.
If you need Droids for muscle, there are more effective droids you can use. Also, it's not smart to use droid imagery of the last army that tried to overthrow the Republic/empire. It's an easy excuse to have imperials eye you more closely.
Well in the first Aftermath book it's said they are well known and laughed at for being the most notoriously incompetent combat unit in the galaxy. So I guess that reputation made them largely unwanted for protection or as enforcers. However Babu Frik had one hanging in his workshop, so I suppose some units still saw use in the black market.
It has occured to me that the seperatist allience would have gotten a lot of good use out of taking the space assault varient of the b2 super battle droid and equiping it with a droidica style personal shield generator. At that point you would have an excellent unit to march in front of the rest of your army and both deal heavy damage and take heavy fire without to much damage, or a unit suitable for a rapid flanking manuver using the built in jetpack.
I know it's not Canon but I remember this from a Star wars game from the Wii I played as a kid: there's a character in the game you can play as called a Jedi hunterdroid that wields two red lightsabers. Definitely worth looking up
There was a variation of the manga guard that wielded yellow electro-staffs that was only seen in one instance in the clone wars tv show (I believe it was grievous’s attack on Naboo)
B series battle droids (with their long snouts and squinty kawaii eyes) are my favorite Star Wars design of all time. I hope they make a live action come-back
I really love battle droids and I hope we could maybe see them used by the good guys for once. I know their themes in the clone wars of being expendable and replaceable and just outnumbering the enemy with pure numbers would probably be harder to fit around the light side of the force, but I still hope the new republic droids we see in the mandalorian season one could mean they rely on droids as reserves and to close gaps in manpower. Nothing excessive hopefully, but them working together with living soldiers could be interesting. Maybe they could be more like the clones in that some could actually gain an identity, since most droids in star wars are already pretty much sentient I just think they have potential as an idea that deserves even more exploring in the eras after the prequels.
I just thought of 2 comprehensive videos you could potentially make. 1 about different weapons manufacturers in the galaxy 1 about different starship manufacturers
Hey Alex, may be a fever dream to say this, but have you heard of the Kingdom Hearts IV announcement? There’s a couple of frames within that trailer that seem to show what may very well be Endor, and the foot of an AT-ST. Would love to know your thoughts of the world of Star Wars entering the KH series!
Mr. Bones was always canon. He debuted in the canon Aftermath books, and then he was also referenced in a canon comic. Basically everything that comes out is canon now... except the Lego games.
It comes in three parts. The dark one you see is a clone trooper who has been merged inside. There were piloted ones but if they got short circuited you were stuck in them. The first variant would be a droid which is heavily armored, the second could be piloted, but could also be a droid, the third. Well you know the third. Just think fnaf
I would have included a special mention to the micro-droids used in the Jedi Temple Bombing, as they had dramatic ramifications on the end of the Clone Wars and could have had widespread ramifications on life if more widely used

A lot of people praise Clone Wars for exploring the politics more than the movies could and recontextualizes a lot of the stuff that wasn't as clear in, or even just cut from the movies to be very narratively satisfying. That could have still been the case with the Sequels in Resistance.
11:10 Woah, I never realized that Viper Droid in Solo was a new model/variant to lore. That's cool
Every battle droid in star wars:
Well there was this one b1
And this other b1
And another b1 from this one from this one episode
And this other one from….
Have you ever noticed that the imperial police droid has the same body as the separatist commando droids?
I did too but they were more lethargic compared to the regular ones
I was really hoping we would see the spider droid and hailfire droid in clone wars season 6 7 and 8.
If Disney didnt evapurate the originally planned, real seventh season of TCW, this dream wouldve probably come true.
@@abraham2172 It was because of the Cartoon Network deal it wasn't their fault.
8?
@@Golden_Flower_1 yes there was meant to be 8 seasons
Yess! Droid videos are my favorite. I'm just so into robotics and stuff.
Wish people talked more about “Highsinger” absolute beast of a droid
I’ve been looking forward to this
The best Droids in Star Wars (Military):
1- IG-100 Magnaguard, the jedi killer deserves top 1, i mean, a droid that can duel with a jedi, normal troopers couldn't defeat one of them.
Killer thumbnail! Love the purple color grading done on the droids. Also, has it really been five years already?!
Very great video! I love clear cut videos like this, which mention every specific unit in easily defined sections. Its very neat & tidy. A few things I want to mention:
The unknown vulture droid variant mentioned at 9:23 personally I refer to that type of vulture droid as a “Hunter vulture droid”, since it appears adept at stalking and tracking targets, much in the same way a Hunter tracks their prey.
I love how he included the firefighter droid
Great video, don’t mean to be that guy but you forgot the Infiltrator droids from Rebels. The type that Zeb, Chopper and AP-5 fought against in that one episode
Sup iceberg man
1:01 God what a terrible sight...being in that terrible situation. Hunting escape pods has the same energy as shooting parachutes. Absolutely tragic, RIP CLONES.
We need a story of a group of B1 battle droids that just *travel*
Roger roger
I really do hope that we see the Dark Troopers again sometime soon; maybe it's possible that Moff Gideon sent the schematics for the Dark Trooper model to Thrawn???
They're just one of many troopers that are made to look cool but end up doing nothing of significance.
@@scoutman66 Well they could probably annihilate whole Rebel bases, as long as there's no Jedi around at the time lol
The colossus had its own security droid, which were either blue or black, and had either 2 or 4 wrist laser cannons.
I also love the N5 sentry and that R1 like security droid.
I've always had a soft spot for the Dark Trooper. Phase Zero was really messed up. Phase 3 was great.
I like how the most of the separatist vehicles were droids besides the like 3 things
Star wars Rebel, there was a bule green robot which was essentially harmless in scout mood, but transforms into assassin. It had a self destructive bomb build in.
2:32
They fly now?
They fly now.
THEY FLY NOW!
I always like the OOM-9 voices on phantom Menace lot more fierce then the annoying droid voices of later shows and films
Star wars commander, omg i love that game so much, so much nostalgia. Its a shame it doesn't exist anymore, i just gotted Darth Vader to lvl 7 and he was a monster with the modification "501st legion", its was so broken.
Thanks for this video. My favourite are the:
BX Droid Commandos
IG-100 Managuards
Dark Troopers
Great list! I thought though that since the Buzz Droid was included, so too might be the Scav Droid from the High Republic era. Maybe it's out of scope since it's a scavenger tool being misused for combat, but the Nihil use it so much in their raids that I thought it might count.
Included a lot of Imperial probe droid, but forgot the one that discovered the rebel base in season three of Rebels.
I was surprised to find out that the B2's in the Clone Wars show are actually a different model rather then simple artistic licence.
I also wish we got to see the Grapple Droid varient onscreen. They were always my favourite.
B2's appear in both Episode II and III.
Did you not read his comment? The ones we see in TCW are a deferrent model type then the ones in the movies. The slender smooth ones were in II and III but the bulky looking ones were in TCW
@@DarkRavenWolf50 Both the slender ones (B1) AND the bulky ones (B2) were in the movies ep2 and ep3.
@@Daniel-Strain im not talking about the B1s. Those are the clanky dumb ones. The B2s from the movies and TCW look drastically different. And as OP stated, its likely cuz they are different models but not different variants
@@DarkRavenWolf50 Yes, the B2-RP and other variants appear in CW. But the normal B2 also appears, and differences between them and those in the films ARE just artistic license.
Phase III dark troopers were a thing. Only few were made in the ship Arc Hammer. No more new ones made after the ship's destruction.
I don't think here enough people to remember Dark Forces.
I really like these list videos, have missed them. Every GONK droid next?
In regards to this list was wondering would the weird protocol droids that transformed from Rebels count? E-XD Infiltrator Droid. I think they were not on this list?
There is another BX series commando droid that wasn't seen much or even put into comic issues, the BX2 super commando droid was also produced late in the clone wars, even though 40 units were ready to deploy not much were used before the clone wars end and after the clone wars most of them were put into storage by the empire and some were taken by pirates or smugglers.
Forgot the micro probe droid used by Imperial special forces, like Inferno squad and the inquisitors
So many Battle Droids. And more yet to come in the future of Star Wars.
thank you so much for making this video
I’m so glad someone made one of these videos
The thumbnails recently are so GORGEOUS
I’ve been waiting a thousand years for this updated version and it’s finally here, i know it’s been one month since release but shush.
Finally, a video for me.
The music and narration is giving me how its made vibes
It’s so weird that a power like that empire didn’t have a droid army imagine having absolute obedient military that doesn’t need to eat or sleep
I learnt about Mr Bones yesterday whilst playing Skywalker saga, and he is already my favorite droid in all of Star Wars (right behind Grievous if he counts)
grievous is technically a cyborg
Grievous is absolutely awesome but technically a cyborg as he was a biological being who underwent many surgeries to get to that bad ass state.
3:06 “The factory that produced them was destroyed”
A funny way of saying Palpatine didn’t want the separatists winning the war.
There’s also the IG-RM Bodyguard and Enforcement droid seen in Rebels, used by Cikatro Vizago and the Mining Guild
I wonder how the armies of the Republic, the Droid Armies, and Separatist Armies would do against the most deadliest enemy in Sci-Fi. The Daleks?
dalek mid
I had that same question! I think it mostly depends on whether the lasers can penetrate the dalek shields.
I like that you make a video on something like a couple year back but later you make a update
That vulture droid with the circular antennae on the roof of it looks like a real world AWAC aircraft which is also used for reconnaissance
iv just come on your Chanel and i really appreciate how you explain your vids. Very impressive
Forgot to mention commando droids can mimic clone troopers with voice box
@Star Wars Explained
This is a very interesting video: however, there are a couple you’ve missed: a dark trooper variant, and the droideka mk2 from the game Star Wars empire at war forces of corruption.
I love all of the CIS droids, that's why I play them in legion
roger roger
You Missed The Droideka MK II
A good video with a lot of content.
Only thing I have to add is that I think you forgot to mention the B1 also had a sniper variant.
It had no defining coloring as far as I remember (possibly to help them blend in with the regular B1 droids in battle) but they were modified to enable them better accuracy with their sniper rifles.
Ah you forgot the famed battle droid from Episode II at the Battle of Geonosis, B1-3PO!
I like how you can see some technological similarities between the republic, separatist, and imperial vehicles, weapons, and armor
This is the content I’m subscribed for
I 👍 👌 the B2 Battle droids and the Droideaks they work best when paired on the battlefield when special forces are necessary ✅️.
Yay! Thank you!
I never get why B1 battle droids were thrown away, maybe it's illegal but pirates or scavengers could easily use them for protection or sell them on the black market, for A LOT of credits.
In Star Wars Resistance pirates use B2 droids to take control of space station. Yes not B1 but almost same thing
@@CheeseRunner Yeah werent B1 just cheap to produce and CIS used massive amount of them to overpower enemy forces
Yeah the only example of this I can think of is in a comic where some jawas had battle droids
Can't wait for you gotta do the update of the clone troopers and stone trooper variations!
I wish they can do a new Star Wars franchise were only the battle droids are either the good or bad army that I’m looking forward to.
Definitely worth looking up
The mention of Mr. Bones warmed my heart. 😂
7:05 Chameleon Droids were actually heavily featured in the video game Star Wars The Clone Wars Republic Heroes.
I was literally looking to see if u had made an updated list yesterday
There was a variation of the manga guard that wielded yellow electro-staffs that was only seen in one instance in the clone wars tv show (I believe it was grievous’s attack on Naboo)
13:30 I sometimes refer to this droid as a “Cobra Probe Droid” because since it doesn’t have a name, I decided to give it a name I created.
B series battle droids (with their long snouts and squinty kawaii eyes) are my favorite Star Wars design of all time. I hope they make a live action come-back
Lucky you
I really love battle droids and I hope we could maybe see them used by the good guys for once.
Maybe they could be more like the clones in that some could actually gain an identity, since most droids in star wars are already pretty much sentient
I just think they have potential as an idea that deserves even more exploring in the eras after the prequels.
It'd be interesting to see an animated series set during the clone wars but from the separatist perspective called "the droid wars"
I just thought of 2 comprehensive videos you could potentially make.
1 about different weapons manufacturers in the galaxy
1 about different starship manufacturers
you missed the rogue one variant security droid used by the empire...
Bones is one of my favorite droids in Star Wars also the ID series like Dio from battlefront 2
Ngl, a battle droid wielding a Z6 rotary laser cannon seems kinda terrifying if used in large enough numbers
I like separatist. And I like IG-series most.👌👍💪
B-1 is the best droid model ever
Hey Alex, may be a fever dream to say this, but have you heard of the Kingdom Hearts IV announcement? There’s a couple of frames within that trailer that seem to show what may very well be Endor, and the foot of an AT-ST. Would love to know your thoughts of the world of Star Wars entering the KH series!
I think Mr Bones has been canonised by The Skywalker Saga. So cool to see such a minor character included in the roster.
Mr. Bones was always canon. He debuted in the canon Aftermath books, and then he was also referenced in a canon comic. Basically everything that comes out is canon now... except the Lego games.
Dude I'm not sure why I haven't subscribed sooner, thanks for the great content.
The Dark Trooper looks pretty sick. I hope that is a droid we see more of somehow. Idk they might have killed it off for good sadly.
He's like those battle droids from Star Wars that roll around.
If the CIS had put the tactical droid AI into a standard B1 then they would have won against the GAR
I would have included a special mention to the micro-droids used in the Jedi Temple Bombing, as they had dramatic ramifications on the end of the Clone Wars and could have had widespread ramifications on life if more widely used
Your moving background is pretty cool, could you mayyyybe make it official. I would love to have this as a Desktop background
