Perhaps the same can be said for the canon timeline aswell. Like Alex said , chances are there will be more popping up as more stories are written.
There are still a ton of jedi we don't know about, ones that appeared in the films like J'oopi Shé, Ma'kis'shaalas, Melik Galerha, Shadday Potkin, Bultar Swan, Pablo Jill, Roth Del-Masona, and Ashla, Sora Bulq's story was retconned for Clone Wars so he's missing too, plus Rig Nema, O-Mer, Jinx, Tera Sinube, Barriss Offee, Eekar Oki, Katooni, Zatt, Gungi, Byph, Petro, Ganodi, Ran Deezy, and Thongla Jur
I don’t really have an issue with 39 survivors. Out of 10k? Jedi were, by their nature, spread out all over. They were often sent on secretive missions far from the Core Worlds. Many had experience being undercover, and their force sensitivity would have warned many that something horrible was happening. As long as the numbers are small, the story lines are good, and they don’t just keep popping up all the time, it will help drive story lines forward. Star Wars is about Jedi. Without new Jedi stories, how do we continue to move forward?
Honestly, i think there a lot more of them out there, the Jedi order had thousands of Jedi. The Jedi that were inside the jedi temple during order 66, were only some of them. There's at least hundrends of Jedi that survived order 66, but shortly after, they get caught and executed.
I believe there's one other I remember. In an early Star Wars Rebels comic Kanan came across another Jedi who was elected leader of the civilization he was living amongst. I think he was killed by The Grand Inquisitor in the story.
The storys of the Jedi who survived Order 66 and even moreso the storys of the ones who survived the Great Jedi Purge, too, are one of my favorite things in Legends, especially the storys about the Jedi who didn't leave the order before or had fallen to the Dark Side. So I'm glad that canon tells new ones in that area, too. Though just like in Legends, that still begs the question: Why didn't they join Luke Skywalkers new Jedi Order after he had rebuild it (in Legends, I know that a few did but still only a fracture of the confirmed survivors of both Order 66 and the Great Jedi Purge)?
I always guess because they thought 3times is not a charm. More pushing there luck to that 3rd strike and out so did as the sith and stayed in the shadows
I think a distinction should be made between surviving *Order 66,* which instructed the Clones to summarily execute their Jedi generals, and *The Great Jedi Purge,* which refers to the genocide of the Jedi in general and lasted almost the whole period between movies III and IV. Jedi surviving the *Purge* all the way to the OT, now that should be extremely limited and I believe they've already gone too far, particularly with Ahsoka. But Jedi surviving Order 66, that very initial wave as depicted in RotS? Hell, I think they could have a couple HUNDRED survive and it not bother me one bit, as long as they are hunted down by Vader and the Inquisitors during the rest of the Purge, preferably sooner rather than later. That's their job, to hunt down surviving Jedi! Besides, there is plenty of textual evidence which suggests that many many Jedi did not serve as generals at all, instead performing as diplomats, *actual* peacekeepers, teachers, etc. They wouldn't even be ABLE to be targeted by Order 66.

@@veryawful861 Chirrut Imwe was far older than this, though. And I sincerely believe he was a Jedi, even though that's been denied. When asked about it, Chirrut didn't actually deny it. He said "There are no Jedi here anymore."
Personally I think the chances of Plo Koon still being alive are super high and he makes the most sense of any Jedi to bring back to the post order 66 era in Kenobi or Ahsoka. 1. His species is known to have super thick skin that can survive multiple direct blaster hits, so probably can withstand fire as well (Established in KOTOR) 2. His Species can survive several hours without oxygen (Established in KOTOR and TCW) 3. Clone Commander Wolfe, Plo’s commander is one of the only known clone’s that did not execute order 66 that did have a control chip in his brain, because of the head trauma that lost his eye is also presumed to have damaged his control chip. (Established in Rebels, some directly confronted by Dave Filloni, and in a comic) 4. Plo Koon And Ahsoka tano have a very strong bond, as he was the Jedi who found her and brought her to the Jedi temple. They have a very strong bond that’s evident throughout all of their encounters in TCW 5. Plo Koon is both Dave Filloni and Jon Favrea favorite Jedi and they both wanted to bring him back and he was originally written to return in the Mandalorian Season 2, but Disney executives decided to replace plo koons return with Luke Skywalker showing up in late production of the show instead.
Question: Do you guys think that any surviving clones post-Battle of Yavin would've been activated and would try to kill Luke Skywalker if they ever came across him, or did Order 66 only apply to Jedi who were around back during RotS era? I wonder how long that chip would cause them to be violent toward anyone who was outwardly a Jedi decades later...
I’m assuming that the chip is forever active. If you look towards The Bad Batch season 1, most of those clones have received Order 66 and become droid-like in obedience and character. I think only clones who’s chips haven’t been activated or have been removed are the only ones who wouldn’t be obedient to Sidious and kill a Jedi on sight without question. Order 66 was like an automatic brainwash, wiping away any personality and any distinguishing feature each clone had. A clone at the time of the Galactic Civil War that was with the Empire still would be more inclined to fire at Luke as soon as the saber was ignited than any Imperial recruit ever would. In Rebels, we are led to believe (somewhat, not confirmed) that Commander Wolffe executed the order (like Rex), and was responsible for Plo Koon’s death, but later had his chip removed, and was no longer violent towards other Jedi.
@@itsthemumu8585 I will say though, that also looking at Bad Batch season 1, there seem to be two examples of that not being the case. 1.) If we're really assuming that Crosshair got his chip removed, he continued to stay loyal to the Empire and kept the same ruthless attitude. He wasn't like Wrecker who saw the "error" of his ways. 2.) Captian Howzer on Ryloth seems to be another trooper that managed to keep his individuality, despite his chip seemingly being activated. I highly doubt the Empire forgot to turn on Howzer and the other Ryloth trooper's chips, so it's interesting that he and 6 other troopers kept enough free will to not blindly follow Admiral Rampart's orders
I don't know for sure if Bariss Offee was executed or imprisoned after her betrayal, but it would be interesting if she either became an Inquisitor, or MORE interesting if she is the one who saved Grogu (with a decent fanfiction I've read claiming she did so alongside Slick who was for some reason never reconditioned on Kamino)
8:27 well that pretty much sounds lethal to me, and even the achievement is called "her name _was_ Masana Tide" but I know this is Star Wars where "somehow, no one's ever really gone" and something as minuscule as a blinking red light sets the whole fandom ablaze.
I wonder how many force sensitives the jedi knew about before o66? I could imagine they knew about Ezra, for instance, but didn't have the time or resources to find him before it went down.
There are roughly 12 inquisitors, all with teams of purge troopers, and likely entire sections of the ISB dedicated to their hunt. To Sidious, these dark siders are another liability to his rule, and he wouldn't allow them to exist just for 25 jedi stragglers (many of whom are padawans) and a few rogue sith. There HAS to be more, and I don't get why people think their stories wouldn't be cool.
I know this video is 4 days old, but another list you could do, is how many imperials joined the rebellion over the corse of the Civil War. Could be legends or canon or both. Just thought it was an interesting topic
Literally, my only gripe with a list of surviving Jedi is why Luke had to be the one to come pick up Grogu in The Mandalorian. Perfect opportunity to use an existing survivor, or make a new character.
You know, I remember hearing that Anakin did bring balance to the Light and Dark side of the force by there being only two of each left in the universe. Him and Sidiuos, while Obi Wan and Yoda. But hearing that all these Jedi survived and some never stopped being Jedi kinda gets rid of that significance. Unless that meant he brought an end to the war was the balance, but even then
I don't know if "balance" means an equal part of Jedi and Sith, but rather more equality in the light and dark side of the force. In the prequels, light predominantly was in control of the galaxy, what with there being over 10,000 Jedi. (Or, if you're in the camp that the Jedi by the time of the prequels lost their way due to government and war, then it'd be predominantly dark side control.) Then in the Orig Trig, the Empire has run and controlled the galaxy for 18 years, killing and enslaving any who stand in the way, ruled by two vastly powerful Sith. Clearly the dark side is in control here, regardless of the few force user stragglers (some of which became more neutral, like Ahsohka or Maul). Anakin defeating Palp did bring balance: no side was predominantly in control
0:33 I won't, because as the ketamine addicted frog himself once said: _"Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not"._
Depends on what metric you measure on. Because mainly the bulk of purge survivors come from table top RPG books which are… not strictly canon to legends. And then you have the jedi who survived because they appeared in pre prequel stories in the 90’s too.
To be fair, a lot of Jedi died in the Clone Wars before Order 66, so that 10,000 guesstimate had already been significantly reduced by the time Order 66 came around, thereby increasing the survivor percentage by at least a little.
Well they were also training new younglings and padawans during the war, it is possible that they started with around 10k jedi knights and lost some and then trained some more Padawans to get back to around 10k
I don’t think you should count the inquisitors as order 66 survivors but I would love to see a video about how the inquisitors were recruited. I doubt they all fell to the dark side before order 66 so what made the clones arrest them instead of shoot them on the spot. Same with Luminara, why was she just arrested and not shot down. I highly doubt that palpatine specifically ordered her arrest and every other Jedi to die instead. Doesn’t make sense.
Rahm Koda survived in Force Unleashed. He didn't trust the Clones and thought there were unfit for combat, so he used his own militia and avoided Order 66 entirely
Order 66 was an immediate Execution. I believe that 100's of Jedi could have survived, Hence what came after was known as the 2nd Great Purge. It was the Purging of the jedi. Personally I love to see a series hunt down a list of 100 of those Jedi who could have escaped and watch them be taken down. It would add to the Importance of 66 but not just that the Purge that happened afterwards.
There’s more Jedi that survived in legends that should be brought into canon such as Kaminoan Jedi Master Kina Ha, Whiphid Jedi Master K’Kruhk, Padawan Ferus Olin, Rutian Twilek Padawan Diala Passil, Padawan Tallisbeth or Scout, Twilek Jedi Knight Rachi Sitra, Kushiban Jedi Master Ikrit and Zabrak Padawan Drakka Judarrl.
The third inquisitor has been revealed apparently Her name is Reva and is known as the Third Sister. Though I guess it's technically not canon yet as the kenobi series has not come out yet. Edit Moses Ingram plays her. Also Rupert Friend is casted simply as "The Inquisitor" so there's a other right there
For me I will always consider the amount of Jedi that it was supposed to be 99% affective. As their were so few that ultimately made to the end of the empire in BOTH Legends, and Canon though Kegends has more both are so effective that the Jedi would( in legends) and shall take decades to recover.

It’s order 66, not the purge. There’s obviously more than 39 Jedi who would have survived order 66.
Something to note is that when trilla gets tortured the guards are wearing stormtrooper armour not clone armour
No, it's been canonically said only 100 survived
@@CRYSTAL_CUSTOMS name them, and when and where was that confirmed?
@@a.m_04831 when and where was it confirmed that 100 jedi survived?
"ToO mAnY JeDi sUrViVeD oRdEr 66!!"
200 Jedi survived in Legends, what's your point?
I believe there's one other I remember. In an early Star Wars Rebels comic Kanan came across another Jedi who was elected leader of the civilization he was living amongst. I think he was killed by The Grand Inquisitor in the story.
That wasn't a jedi, that guy just had a lightsaber
I think this is one of the things that are going to look into during the Ono Wan Kenobi show.
@@leonbrooks2107 Hello there, Ono Wan Kenobi
Ezra was ok in my eyes, because they explained his absence. Ashoka i will never understand though, her character arc should have ended on malachor
@@abnercliff9624 why? She was stronger than all the inquisitors and Vader thought probably that she died on the explosion on Malachor
@@darthvader5419 because it made sense for her character, she was never going to leave Anakin, which meant killing vader. Of course she can't kill vader because he is far too powerful, she had to die facing her former master. Her going through the world between worlds removes that sacrifice and much of that character development. That said, they have done some interesting things with her post resurrection, so it's not that bad. But her character arc should have died on malachor
Hey man I’ve been trying to figure this stuff out for years, great video and I appreciate the information you just gained yourself a like and a subscriber… I appreciate what your doing and ima share this to my friends
I hope we eventually get a character who was born soon after purge and is Force sensitive, but who *doesn’t* get handed a Master. Or at least a proper one. I’d like to see them have to teach themself how it all works and perhaps only use it by instinct as they have no idea what it is.
Sounds a lot like the blind guy from rogue one.
This is literally Ezra Bridger
Ezra almost falls into this category, he did receive a Master eventually, but that master was only officially a Padawan at the fall of the Order, and only got knighted by Yoda almost a year or two later
@@veryawful861 Chirrut Imwe was far older than this, though. And I sincerely believe he was a Jedi, even though that's been denied. When asked about it, Chirrut didn't actually deny it. He said "There are no Jedi here anymore."
Really hope we get some Quinlan Vos content in Kenobi! He was my favorite jedi growing up and hope they bring some of his old comic lore into cannon.
honestly that's kinda why I don't want them to do vos.
Vos got a happy ending. I don't want them to take that away.
They should make a show about how each jedi survived order 66. Maybe one jedi per episode
'She hid her scars'
Has a tiny little mark.
If you're counting folks from Visions wouldn't the scientist Jedi guy that made TOB1 be a survivor too until he was killed?
Every year this needs an update
Great job! You do very thorough work!
Personally I think the chances of Plo Koon still being alive are super high and he makes the most sense of any Jedi to bring back to the post order 66 era in Kenobi or Ahsoka.
1. His species is known to have super thick skin that can survive multiple direct blaster hits, so probably can withstand fire as well (Established in KOTOR)
2. His Species can survive several hours without oxygen (Established in KOTOR and TCW)
3. Clone Commander Wolfe, Plo’s commander is one of the only known clone’s that did not execute order 66 that did have a control chip in his brain, because of the head trauma that lost his eye is also presumed to have damaged his control chip. (Established in Rebels, some directly confronted by Dave Filloni, and in a comic)
4. Plo Koon And Ahsoka tano have a very strong bond, as he was the Jedi who found her and brought her to the Jedi temple. They have a very strong bond that’s evident throughout all of their encounters in TCW
5. Plo Koon is both Dave Filloni and Jon Favrea favorite Jedi and they both wanted to bring him back and he was originally written to return in the Mandalorian Season 2, but Disney executives decided to replace plo koons return with Luke Skywalker showing up in late production of the show instead.
Damn, That hit me: F being the last one, and remembering how much I loved the Villiage Bride on Visions
Hopefully we will see them in the Kenobi Series since Quinlan Voss is said to appear, looking forward to that.
No, he's not. That's pure speculation.
Not at all confirmed
"I just wanted you to think about that and be *SAD* " thanks Alex :)
I learn so much from this channel, I love Star Wars!
I think in the Kenobi series there may appear more jedi who survived Order 66
Some inquisitors got killed because order 66 was reactivated to a few clones, so yes.
Being a massive High Republic fan and a fan of the Jedi of that era only makes Order 66 feel worse
I would love to see some of the Visions storylines canonized and expanded upon.
Do you have a link to þat fanfic, or at least a name? Þat sounds like a _fascinating_ read, and I’d love to look into it!
8:27 well that pretty much sounds lethal to me, and even the achievement is called "her name _was_ Masana Tide" but I know this is Star Wars where "somehow, no one's ever really gone" and something as minuscule as a blinking red light sets the whole fandom ablaze.
But the game itself says something like "was defeated by Cal, or was she". I would've been pretty fuckin furious if she would've shown up again
Thank you, Alex! ❇
Erm actually Yarael Poof survived Order 66 too, and later became a chef for the Imperial
I will never understand how luminary was arrested instead of being executed. How did they even get the time to do it?
I wonder how many force sensitives the jedi knew about before o66? I could imagine they knew about Ezra, for instance, but didn't have the time or resources to find him before it went down.
Ezra was born on the same day the Empire was, so I doubt he was a known quantity at the time.
Thank you for this video.
At 5:46, it's probably known already, but I love that the name is just Charles Soule backwards
Honestly, I don’t have a problem with Jedi surviving as long as they die before ANH.
Would be cool if we see more of Quinlan Vos
Of all the survivors, I would REALLY like a post-ROTS story featuring Quinlan Vos... A man can dream.
Let’s not forget the most famous Jedi to ever escape Order 66 by leaping through the skies of Corusant:
Mace “Freefall” Windu.
Mace needs a show.
Thumbnail looks awesome
Yo F is so pog dude can't wait to see more visions
I was just thinking about suggesting that you make a video about this, what a coincidence
You should make a legends version
Wish Dass Jennir was a canon survivor. Would like to have seen him pop up in one of the shows.
Oooh, it would probably be too long to do, but a comprehensive list of bounty hunters would be pretty dang cool
Informative video, would love to see a legends one!
I roll my eyes when people complain about survivors, just go with it.
Next video suggestion:
a list of jedi who lived after 0 BBY (not counting yoda & kenobi) = who lived to see new republic
I know this video is 4 days old, but another list you could do, is how many imperials joined the rebellion over the corse of the Civil War. Could be legends or canon or both. Just thought it was an interesting topic
Great video
This is great - thank you!
Literally, my only gripe with a list of surviving Jedi is why Luke had to be the one to come pick up Grogu in The Mandalorian. Perfect opportunity to use an existing survivor, or make a new character.
Any ideal about Rael Averross? I find him interesting because he didn't fully go alone with the Jedi.
I don't think he survived but wonder if you knew
Can you do a list of Jedi that became Jedi after Order 66? Like Ezra, Luke, etc…
@Jack I actually didn’t btw
@Jack I didn’t. Literally Rey and Karr Nuq Sin.
@@a.m_04831 you could!
Can you do one for legends if you haven’t done one already??
You know, I remember hearing that Anakin did bring balance to the Light and Dark side of the force by there being only two of each left in the universe. Him and Sidiuos, while Obi Wan and Yoda. But hearing that all these Jedi survived and some never stopped being Jedi kinda gets rid of that significance. Unless that meant he brought an end to the war was the balance, but even then
Google it, 'balance' was never supposed to mean 2 sith and 2 jedi
I don't know if "balance" means an equal part of Jedi and Sith, but rather more equality in the light and dark side of the force.
In the prequels, light predominantly was in control of the galaxy, what with there being over 10,000 Jedi. (Or, if you're in the camp that the Jedi by the time of the prequels lost their way due to government and war, then it'd be predominantly dark side control.)
Then in the Orig Trig, the Empire has run and controlled the galaxy for 18 years, killing and enslaving any who stand in the way, ruled by two vastly powerful Sith. Clearly the dark side is in control here, regardless of the few force user stragglers (some of which became more neutral, like Ahsohka or Maul).
Anakin defeating Palp did bring balance: no side was predominantly in control
These are legends, but: Jax Pavan, Ferus Olin, Barden Jusek, Balter Swan, Solace, Ashara Hett, and more.
My favorite Order 66 survivors are Obi-Wan, Yoda, Cal Kestis, Cere Junda, Ahsoka Tano and Kanan Jarrus
Alex, you do have a legends video like that right? I can't seem to find it but I remember it.
You forgot the professor in T0-b1 from visions.
0:33 I won't, because as the ketamine addicted frog himself once said: _"Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not"._
Every one......so far.
Everytime Disney blinks, 15 new force wielding survivors resurface.
How many Jedi survived Order 66 in Legends?
Around 200
Mans forgot about Glup Shitto, truly the greatest Jedi Master
think you'll do an updated version since this is a year old?
I don’t think you should count the inquisitors as order 66 survivors but I would love to see a video about how the inquisitors were recruited. I doubt they all fell to the dark side before order 66 so what made the clones arrest them instead of shoot them on the spot. Same with Luminara, why was she just arrested and not shot down. I highly doubt that palpatine specifically ordered her arrest and every other Jedi to die instead. Doesn’t make sense.
Really hope they make Rahm Kota canon and find a way to bring in Galen Marek
What about the inquisitor in visions ep6
Don't worry, the remaining Jedi will be hunted down and defeated.
Add 1 - An’ya Kuro, the Dark Woman, survived Order 66 to only get struck down facing Vader on Cophrigin V
Rahm Koda survived in Force Unleashed. He didn't trust the Clones and thought there were unfit for combat, so he used his own militia and avoided Order 66 entirely
And on that note, Galek Marek's father also survived
10,000 jedi and only 39 survived, surprised it isn't more
Order 66 was an immediate Execution.
I still say one day there will be 9,000 Jedi who survived when Disney keeps making new ones.
The third inquisitor has been revealed apparently
Her name is Reva and is known as the Third Sister. Though I guess it's technically not canon yet as the kenobi series has not come out yet.
Edit Moses Ingram plays her. Also Rupert Friend is casted simply as "The Inquisitor" so there's a other right there
THIRTY NINE jedi survived order SIXTY SIX, right? Well, there are THIRTY NINE books in the old testament, and SIXTY SIX overall! Weird right?
For me I will always consider the amount of Jedi that it was supposed to be 99% affective. As their were so few that ultimately made to the end of the empire in BOTH Legends, and Canon though Kegends has more both are so effective that the Jedi would( in legends) and shall take decades to recover.
Is Quinlan Vos any relation to Dryden Vos?
Maybe you can make a video about Jedi that died during order 66 in your next video.
You forgot Gungi the wookie youngling that appears in the clone wars series when the younglings are making their lightsabers, he survived and became the wookie chieftain after Tarrful
