- Just a quick video on replacing the brake light bulb on a 2012 Ford Focus hatchback. One day the instrument panel started griping showing an alert for 'brake light bulb fault' and sure enough one of them was burnt out. It's easy enough to replace though. Thanks for watching!

tip - the plastic wingnuts have notch in - so you can use a big screwdriver rather than either pliers or 500lb gorilla - great straight to the point video btw

I usually dread resorting to a UA-cam instructional video, because they're almost always overly long and full of unnecessary background explanatory information (to impress you, I guess); this one was such a relief. Straight to the point, clear, and narrated in an engaging manner.

I couldn't get anyone to help me change out my brake light so I decided to UA-cam it and you helped me change out my first brake light. I did this at 10 pm with high winds also. LoL. Thank you

Thanks for posting this tutorial! I just changed my own brake light bulb after watching. I saved about $20 and didn't have to waste half a day sitting in the smelly waiting area in some garage.
It is 1:30am and I'm in the dark in a parking lot trying to change this bulb, this vid couldn't be more helpful.

Great video, simple and to the point (unlike most videos like this on UA-cam)
Only thing I would say is I would advise against handling the new bulb with bare fingers, a little bit of oil (whether it be from the car or natural oils from your skin) can cause a bulb to fail very quickly

Seamus you said the bulbs are different in the uk I live in Warwickshire and. got a replacement brake light bulb for my focus but it had 2 ‘ filaments’ where the original had only ‘one’ it said on the package “brake and tail light” is this the difference you mentioned?

Just got a quote from an auto shop (went in for something else and the brake light was also out). They wanted $99 and apparently it was 1 hr labor (do they round up?!?!). Thanks to your video, it cost me $5.25 for a 2 pack of bulbs so I still have a spare 👍

Thanks! You're right about the screws being tightened by an 800 lb gorilla. I was told by the dealership that they were supposed to be just hand tight. Also , several of the videos I've seen people do this, the front clip just pops right off. Mine didn't want to let go! Took some tough yet gentle persuasion to get that sucker to release.

I keep getting a random pop up warning "Brake lamp bulb fault", that disappears quickly. I replaced both bulbs and no change, still happening. Any ideas? This is aggravating.
No error msg, but drivers side light dnt come on until you actually insert & turn key.....jst wandering if its a sensor issue, or electrical fault..
If your hatch won't open, is it still possible to pull it off?
