- for the past few weeks now I have been getting the "break lamp bulb fault" notification every time I started my car. After not finding any videos on how to resolve the issue, I decided to make one! hopefully this video was able to help you out, comment down below if you have any questions or videos you would like to see in the future.

Adding to your instruction, wouldn't it be advisable to check bulb by having someone tap on brake? So dont have take apart again.
Also be an idea to wear latex gloves when TOUCHING the new bulb 🤷♂️ not bad otherwise. Good catch your one as I've changed a bulb alone and was forced to squint at reflections to see if it's working again 😂 most likely done similar have you 😂👍

My 2023 Ford Edge had a 3rd brake light burn out. I saw that fault light, replaced the 3rd brake light brake light works . Still occasionally getting the fault on console. ?? Light working 😁

I just kept the second one as a spare. The bulbs only come in packs of two from what I have seen. Glad it helped! Thank you for the feedback.

Hi thank you for a great video!! I changed my bulbs as per this video but when I turn my car back on I still get the brake bulb fault error. What do you recommend I do at this point??

I had this problem as well.
But when I replaced the the whole damaged lamp with a new one. Problem solved. Now I have the same issue on the other lamp. I am guessing the "bulb socket" is defective.
I replaced both 3157 bulbs but still have the fault. Could it be the 3rd lamp above the window?
I replaced the bulb, checked everything and they all work but the brake bulb message still shows, how do you fix that?

Thank you! Lift the black plastic cover from bottom and it should pull out easy on 2017 SEL. Same bulb too. $7 to $8 at AutoZ for dual pack.

It should. it may be a different model of bulb though, I'm not 100% sure. The model number should be on the black base of the bulb.

Unfortunately, I did what you talked about in the video. And, the brake light fault is still showing up on my dashboard. So, now I'm stumped.
Umm if the light works u may neec to let the place u bought it from reset the screen

I get the 'stop lamp bulb fault' come up on my dash but my break lights are fine and it just passed MOT. Does anyone know how to clear the annoying message that comes on everytime I start the engine?

I replaced the standard bulb with LEDs. I get the fault after installing LEDs. The brake and running lights work. What could cause this?
Very good first video! A suggestion: wear gloves or use a paper towel when handling the new bulb.

Do u need to change out both sides ?
I did not have to with mine. However if both bulbs CAN have the same issue. they come in packs of two. probably not a bad idea to swap them both. if you are anything like me I would try to store the extra bulb in the pack and would loose it anyways LOL
@@dpoutdoors4702 Thank you yes I would probably lose the 2nd bulb lol. How did you know to do the one on the driver side? Rather than the passenger side 1 ... I have this message coming up as well so when the weather warms up on the weekend I will change them both out. I do have the dipped beam bulb fault message as well so I guess I have to change my headlight too...
The notification pops up only intermittently & the brake light seems to be working. Could something else be wrong?
I would try checking all three brake lights as well as the back running lights and and make sure they are all working. if it only pops on intermittently. One may just stop working for a second or two and trigger the code.

Your bulb may be a different model. some models do not have them and are built into the housing.

@@dpoutdoors4702 yes but it's about 4" x5" only for 2 fly nuts access, weird. I haven't seen one video that looks like mine, however I changed it out today in about 6 minutes 👊🇺🇸
Ford Dealer charged me 20AUD for this on site Job while I wait in the Lounge!
There have been a handful of people that have said this didn't work for them. It works for about 95% So hopefully the dealership had to do something else on top of this....
Worst light brand ... i have to change it again in less the 1 year...Why dod you use pliers when you can take that off with a screwdriver or hand?
I haven't had any issues with this brand of bulb. sorry you are continuing to have issues with them. It was super tight on there so I really just use them to loosen it.

Good video but this is not a "problem." This is the car alerting you to basic maintenance.
This car's brake light always goes out. This car is a piece of shit. I have to replace the bulb at least once a year
So you can actually see the message on the display spelled as 'brake' - yet you've posted the video with it spelled 'break'! - You're gonna get some disappointed YT searchers who were expecting some kind of bulb-smashing party!
