    Great video! A couple of suggestions to help with the installation.
    We installed the fan brackets to the fan motor before hanging the motor to the ceiling. This eliminated some overhead work which makes my neck hurt.
    We were able to wire the fan and light to separate wall switches by connecting the blue wire (light) to the red wire from the switch and connecting the black wire (fan) to the black wire from the switch. The instructions do not cover that situation.
    Thanks for the video!

    Sir, you have just saved my sanity. I got one of these second hand and fully assembled and was going crazy for almost an hour trying to figure out how to get the blades off. Many minutes and 2 people later, I happened upon this video. Bam. Blades off in seconds. Sanity restored. Thank you.

    Best video for ceiling fan installation .. i put everything up to the fan motor, turned on the power, tested the fan and it would not spin, and then i remembered your instructions to remove the fan stoppers (i did not see this step in the instructions, so watched that part of your video and got the fan working, attached fan blades, and tested again, works great. Thanks for taking the time to make this video, would have been a much more difficult job, for me!!

    just installed this fan in the oil rubbed bronze finish in my dining room and wishing I'd seen this video first. It took me about fifteen minutes to find out about the slot in the switch housing for easy attachment of the blade arms. I also installed a Lyndhurst ceiling fan in the oil rubbed bronze finish in my kitchen the same day. I honestly don't know which one I like more both are awesome, quite, powerful fans. Thanks for the videos on the insulation of both fans.

    Thank you so much for this! You explained the wiring perfectly for me! I just bought a house and supposedly the fan/light had never worked. I hired an electrician who told me the fan could not work with the switches but only through the remote but the receiver was bad. I bought a new one and began first by following your instructions and amazingly the fan and light are working and I haven’t even installed the new receiver yet. Thanks to you my girlfriend things I’m a handy genius (I’m far from it, I was seconds away from giving up before finding your video). Thanks for saving me another $150!!

    "keep it breezy!" I installed one of these the other day, it was a happy surprise to see hampton upgraded their design with the quick install/remove blades. also they kept their round down rode head peace unlike another manufacture hunter who has a triangle shape head peace notch down road, that canopy bowl does not match up with box mount! u would have to remove and re-attach the electrical box to accommodate! (u know how much fun that would have been) lol the customer went and got the hampton on my recommendation. happy ending!

    I have an extra red wire in the ceiling that I'm not sure what to do with. I've followed all the steps you showed, which were extremely helpful, but the fan or light does not turn on. Your help is appreciated!

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  7 років тому

      Hi Shane. Let me start by saying that ** I am not a licensed electrician, and if you have wiring issues, you may need to consult a licensed electrician. ** That being said, typically, a red wire in the ceiling is a wall switch wire. You can try wiring the fan's black and blue wires to the red wire. That should let you turn the fan & light on and off using the switch. If you have wired the fan fan's black and blue wire to the house Black wire, that should give your fan constant power and allow you to control it with the pull chains. The house black wire is typically the constant hot wire. If that doesn't help, I would suggest calling Hampton Bay customer service at 1-855-HD-Hampton and they should be able to help you trouble shoot. I would also make sure that the wire connections did not loosen or disconnect during installation.

    • @BCIII003
      @BCIII003 7 років тому

      Hello, first let me say that this video is absolutely amazing. My issue is the same as the above stated. I also have the additional red house wire and I'm not sure what to do with it. Are you suggesting that I connect the fans blue and black wires to the house red and black wire? I know you stated that you are not an electrician but any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  7 років тому

      Hi Benjamin. Thanks for the nice comment. So as you know, I am not a licensed electrician, and you should consult with a licensed electrician (for safety). That being said, typically a red wire is a wall switch wire. So you have 3 options of wire connections. 1. Fan black and blue wire to the house black (hot) wire. The house black wire is usually a constant power wire. (and use a wire nut to cap the red wire). Connecting the fan's black and blue wires to the house black would let you control the fan and light with the pull chains. or 2. Connect the fan's black wire to house black wire, and the fan's blue wire to the house red wire (switch wire). This way would allow you to turn the fan's light on/off with the wall switch. So, you would initially turn the light on using the pull chain, and then you'd be able to turn the light on/off with the wall switch. Or 3. Connect the fan's black and blue wires to the house red wire and cap off the house black wire. This would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off using the wall switch - you would have to turn the switch on and then set the fan's speeds and light using the pull chains - once the fan's speed is set you could turn the fan off with the wall switch and next time the switch is turned on, the fan should return to the last speed it was set to. DO NOT CONNECT THE HOUSE BLACK AND RED WIRE - THOSE 2 WIRES SHOULD NEVER TOUCH EACH OTHER. Hope this helps out!

      Yes this helped tremendously!!! I actually did some research as well and was instructed in the same manner... So I wound up connecting the blue and red wire, black to black and white to white... Everything worked like a charm and my Mother (who I was installing the fan for as a surprise) is so pleased... Thank you again for this AWESOME video!!!

    Great video!!! Very clear step by step instructions. There's only one little issue I was wondering if you can clear it up for me. When the ceiling fan was finally installed, I turned it on and it started making a little crackling sound for a couple of seconds then the sound stopped. Same thing when I changed the speed. Is that normal in the beginning?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  6 років тому

      Thanks for watching. A little fan noise is not uncommon for a brand new fan. Sometimes, the parts just need to run for a bit to settle. If the noise continues to be an issue, i would just double check that all the parts are connected correctly and that all of the pieces are completely tightened. If the noise continues, I would suggest calling the Hampton Bay customer service team. They are pretty good at troubleshooting over the phone and can often resolve an issue that may have been overlooked.

    Fan wires look silvery in color so they are either aluminum or copper clad aluminum, should you not be using the purple alumincon connectors to avoid dissimilar metal corrosion?

      The wires are tinned copper, so it's not an issue.

    After everything is wired I have a red wire (from the house) and a white wire (from the house) from the fan assembly I just have the white wire. This is a trailer I'm hooking it up to

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  Рік тому

      The White house wire should be connected to the white fan wire. Typically a red wire in the ceiling is a switch wire. If that is the case, you have a couple of options. You can either cap off the red house wire with an electrical nut and electrical tape, or you can connect the fan's blue wire (light power) to the red wire. That would allow you to use the switch to turn the light on/off. You could also cap off the house black wire and connect the fan's black and blue wires to the red wire. This would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off simultaneously. If you are not sure about wiring, we would suggest calling a licensed electrician to make sure the wiring is connected correctly.

  • @wivanov1

    Super helpful video thank you so much, DO you know how to make the light work from the switch, our home had a red wire that was extra. We want to turn the light on from the switch. Any videos you have on this? Thank you again

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  7 років тому

      Thanks for watching! Let me just get a disclaimer out of the way - i am not a licensed electrician, and you should always consult with a licensed electrician if you have wiring questions. That being said, if you have a red wire in the ceiling, chances are it is the wall switch wire. You would just need to connect the fan's blue wire (light power) to the red wire from the house. That should let you control the light from the switch. You will need to turn the light on using the pull chain initially, but then the wall switch would turn the light on/off after that.

    I have an extra red wire coming out of ceiling what should I do with it??

    Excellent Video. I have separate switches as well. However, one of them is a High, Med, Low, and Off speed controller. The safety information page shows a warning not to use a "Solid State fan speed Controller device." I see these everywhere so I'm wondering why this fan says not to use one. Any ideas?

      Thanks for watching! I think this is referring to dimmer style speed controls. A variable wall control should be fine. You just have to make sure the fan is set to high speed with the chain before using the wall control.

    One question I have that's not covered is how much "play" does the fan have, or is it ridged with no movement of the motor/base?

      My question above should have added: when the fan motor is not running, hanging still? Maybe add: how to fix?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  4 роки тому

      @@chefbambu9382 the fan shouldn't have any play when properly installed. If your fan is able to move at the base when not running, it sounds like the outlet box may be loose or something else is not tightened completely.

    We did this. The fan switch works. For the light, we connected the white to white, and blue with black wire. Switched the light switch, light does not come on. Did we miss a step?

      We would suggest double chekcing the wiring from the fan to the house wires. They can sometimes disconnect during the installation process. The fan black wire and fan blue wire should be connected to the house black. If you are connecting to a wall switch, the house will typically have a red wire (switch wire). We are not licensed electricians and if you are not sure about the wiring, we would suggest contacting a licensed electrician. You can also call Hampton Bay customer service at 1-855-434-2678. Their team is pretty good at troubleshooting. Please let us know what happens.

    what if I have 2 white wires in the box in the ceiling ? do I connect all three together ?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  2 роки тому

      We have to say that we are not electricians, and for any wiring issues that are different from the ones in this video, we suggest calling a licensed electrician to make sure the wiring is connected correctly. That being said, if you have an extra white wire, you should be able to cap one off and connect the other wiring as described in the video. Again, contact a licensed electrician if you're not sure. We really can't advise without actually being there to see what's what as far as the wiring goes. Sorry.

    I have two switches on my wall, one for the light, one for the fan, I don't think this wiring instruction will work?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  2 роки тому

      You can connect the blue wire (light wire) to one of the switch wires, and the black wire (fan speed power) to the other switch wire. If you're not sure about your wiring, we would suggest calling a licensed electrician.

    I don't have a copper wire coming from the house, but there is a green wire coming from the fan and another one from the bracket. Do I connect them? Since I don't have copper wire, would that be an issue?

      If you don't have a copper wire from the house, you can just connect the green wires together.

    I have a extra pink wire to another switch thats supposed to just turn on and off the lights. What wire do i connect it to?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  5 років тому +1

      Let me start by saying the **we are not licensed electricians, and if you have different wiring than what is included in the manual, you should consult with a licensed electrician to make sure the wiring is connected correctly** . That being said, a red wire from the ceiling is typically the switch wire. If that is the case, you can connect the fan's black wire (power wire) to the house black wire and the fan's blue wire (light power) to the red or pink switch wire. This would allow you to use the wall switch to turn the light on/off.
