Hi! Thanks for sharing the video. I am interested in replacing the liftgate strips on my GL! Would you advise also replacing the tail light seals as well to prevent any water leaks? Would it require me to replace the tail lamps themselves or just a sealing on each? Your recommendation is greatly appreciated and any part numbers for such seals. Thanks!
I have the same issue and ran the scanner and got the code as mentioned below, Component B86/2 (Right rear-end door closing obstruction sensor strip) sticks in the switched state (contact sticking) Plus the same message for the other side (B86/1). Did you also got the same codes? I am planning to change the strip tomorrow and after changing is there any thing we need to specifically do, like clear the code or it will just start working?
Very informative, never knew about the strip on my GL320..
Thank you 😊
this is what i need it thanks
Do you have a part number for the sensor or description I can look up? This is for an 08 R350. Hatch won't auto close.
Did you find the strips seperatly for the R class? I only find it with the whole plastic piece where it is attached too.

Hi! May I know which website did you buy the parts?? TY.
Hi thanks for the video! Can I also just disconnect the strip sensor? Will it allow it to auto open and close but now just without the safety feature
Or perhaps a fuse to pull to disconnect the sensors?
Mine will not power-open (I can do it by hand) but it can power-close?
Hi i have a w251 chassis r300. Is this the same sensor strip. Can u help me find the part number if its different. Thank you
Hi mine have different problem I tried to close it but it stops in the middle and it goes back to open. Is it possible this can be the cause also?
Most likely yes. The function of sensing strips is to sense obstruction between them and stop the tailgate on closing on somebody.
Same thing is happening to mine right now did you fix it?
