One of the absolute best written songs of all time.
One of the least original and creative songs of all time.

Facts
F**k yeah...
Facts
This record is old enough to drink now but to me it’s timeless. 1998 seems like a million years ago and also seems like yesterday.
Same
Time just goes by faster and faster as we age. Just listen to "Time" by Pink Floyd. Sums up our time on earth as humans. Bet you can't go through the entire song without getting teary eyed, or cry. Simply beautiful....
Dude I was spinning Jump around in the clubs 92. Back then I was already spinning freestyle House for about 8 years. In the 80s. OG DJ
Read that comment, thought of 98. finished school back then...good times. Simpler times...*sigh*
Brendon Kelly lmfao
I’m 52 and hearing this song still brings back the same nostalgic vibes like if it were yesterday! Thanks for the great music and great memories! The spirit is something that never ages!
One of the BEST and True to life songs EVER written.
It’s a crappy song about three people who made very bad life choices and are faced with the consequences of those choices. We are shamed in the song if we don’t view these people as victims of something. The song is ideologically and morally bankrupt but it’s a good means for allowing other losers to nod along approvingly and convince themselves they are virtuous.
@chriswallace9113 Interesting viewpoint.
I assume you've lead a perfect life and have NEVER either made a bad decision or had something unfortunate happen to yourself???
@@darrenp1549 Accountability, sir. That is the difference between real life and this song. In real life, we are expected to be accountable for our actions. This is an example of virtue signaling put to a music track. It’s a lazy out for those with little to no virtue to associate themselves with a “virtuous” message. Similar to how religion works.
@chriswallace9113 Religion is a sham too.
It's a great song. Thought provoking lyrics.
Sorry your self righteous thought process can't see it...
@@darrenp1549 It’s not righteousness. I’ll leave that to the religious folks. It’s self respect and personal responsibility. I’ll agree it’s thought provoking. Our thoughts on it just differ.
I was 20 the first time I heard this song and it still sounds good at 42 one of my favorites 😍 keep rocking it Everlast 🤘 fan 4 life
That's funny, I never heard about Everlast til I was (42). This is the 1st song I ever heard, and this my friend, is what i want played at my funeral.
I have alot of family members that need to learn "NOT TO JUDGE"....
@@mysteriousgranny214 everlast unique artist, it's not easy for shit artists right now to be universal , everlast he can play any style , and for me he is only one bit eminem;) included he is stylish
@@mysteriousgranny214 that is funny 😂 42 is a great year and rocking with Everlast makes it even nicer. I got the chance to rock to him early but to tell you the truth he looks better now than ever before so you caught him at a good time. And yes yes yes that is so true people shouldn't judge us because "they don't know what it's like" greatest song ever 💘 speaks to my heart. Keep rocking mysterious granny 😉🤘 Everlast 4 life
hey it's impossible you heard this song when you were 17 (now you're 42 which means you heard it 25 years ago). The song was recorded in '97 which was 23 years ago
@@MKgothic lol well calculated it was early and I'm getting old 😂 I knew I was young when I heard it lmao so what age would that put me since you got your thinking cap on 😂😂😂
Thank you Everlast! First heard in 1999 with 16 years old, now I´m 37 and you still kicking! Greatings from Austria.
I agree, heard it when I was 15 and bought the Album directly.
Greets from Germany, auch nach Österreich 👋🏻
Whitey Ford Sings the Blues is such a great album
Agree 💯
Indeed
A song writer in Nashville once said, to write a hit song, all you need is three chords and the truth.
Brother, you are the truth! This song still gives me chills. ♥️
That songwriter was John Prine
He's not wrong
Great damn song I was only 7 when it came out
4 Chords technically. Haha ;)
Can’t describe howgood this song is.
“I've seen a rich man beg
I've seen a good man sin
I've seen a tough man cry
I've seen a loser win
And a sad man grin
I heard an honest man lie
I've seen the good side of bad
And the down side of up
And everything between
I licked the silver spoon
Drank from the golden cup
Smoked the finest green” this bridge will forever be my favorite lyrics. This song teaches us to be kind to everyone because you never know what demons they might be facing. Peace, love and happiness✌🏽
Jump around!
Or what demons you may encounter either.
Love the lyrics in the bridge
Tonight, as I was waiting at a red light-I see a homeless man with a sign that read "Needy not Greedy" and to my amazement..one by one, each vehicle began rolling down their windows and started handing this man various items. A donut, cigarettes, cash, a grocery bag with food..and one caring soul even took the coat off his own back, and gave it to this gentleman. It was windy and chilly here in Florida, so I know he really appreciated it. I spotted him a $50, because all of this sudden compassion really restored my faith in humanity. He began to cry, and he reached through the window and hugged me. VERY POWERFUL!..and a clear reminder that if you are in a position to help someone down on their luck, don't think twice. I love this song, because it conveys a clear message-and that message is..that you never know what someone is going through in their personal life, so rather than casting judgement-extend a helping hand.
I went from having a business, a house, a family to living in my car in just a few weeks. I collected aluminum cans, picked fruit, went to food banks, and survived. I don't drink or use drugs. It was a series of bad events that got me in that position. Took awhile but I turned it around. This song reminds me of those bad times. I give help if it's asked for. Nobody wakes up one morning and says, I think I'll be homeless. ✌.
@@petermiller114 I agree. So glad you were able to turn things around ❤️
@@themeparkblondie 😊
Thanks for helping him ❤
I'm in North Carolina I help people with what I can
I stumbled across the official video for this song and was floored by the first verse...
I've been there, homeless, with two sons and our cat. It sucks.
But what really sucks is all the homeless hate.
Walk that mile in those shoes before you pass judgement and throw stones. We ain't all druggies and psychos.
I share your pain
❤ ❤
I Hope you and your sons are doing better this world can be crazy.
I hope you and your family are in a better place... just want to point out that by saying "we ain't all druggies and psychos", you're doing the exact same thing they did to you and what he's talking about in this song. Something to think about.
The hate is because of the shame we do/should all feel for treating our fellow citizens so bad, our brothers and sisters, it's a constant reminder that for some of us to live so well, so many others must live so horribly, even if most can't articulate that fact, they no it, deep down..It's a reminder that we don't live in the greatest country on Earth, it's just propaganda, and not even close to being the truth..We live in an evil empire, now that's the truth..Although few understand that fact either...I'm glad you made it out..Peace...
let's appreciate his DJ work, his beat matches the song really well
Its impeach the president probably the most well known drum break.
Kids nowadays don't know that this bluesman was a rapper and the only one who embarrassed Slim Shady on a diss track ♥
Tell more about this please
Whitey Ford ... is the man
Google it, he ain't lying. I think his diss went harder than em' s as well as many other "heads" do.
Lol shady won fosho that one
Everlast admitted it wasn't meant as a dis- he just used the name Hailey in a song
Yes oldies song's never dies 👊
The thing about music, is that it doesn't have an expiration date
Timeless... One of the coolest songs in the world!
Timeless stories 💪
My life’s theme song. This guy touches so many souls 💜 what a gift 🍯
Same here
What legendary lyrics, never ever to be repeated in any other way.
once or twice a week a must ... recognizing the tragedies of life yet somehow offering a ray of hope .................

So underrated. The man is a G 🖤
Even more. Blessed by God.
One of my favorite Everlast songs.
Everlast's music has matured into a truly remarkable blues sound. I can't get enough. I mean, I'm sure I will - but not yet. I dig good blues.
Nice
Brings back so many memories, always amazing.
Great song👊
This is true music. How it feels when you get the shivers all over you, like someone walking over your grave. This is it. This Man is the real deal.
Everlast. Thank you for. This song !!!! It’s everlasting. 💯
Still Killin it. Pure legend.
This song is like a fine wine, respect brother!
this song will never get old. So glad that one of my favorite artists from back in the day didnt die before everyone got a taste of his music.
I still like this guy after 30 years ,like a time capsule
When this came out and blew up the radio airwaves, I was 8 years old. I just liked the nice guitar sounds and melody and catchy tune. As an adult, it hits so much harder. This is one of the best albums of the 90’s hands down.
Man he looks so different. Glad he’s still alive and singin.
hes aged so good. still doin what he loves it seems
Quarantine life hahaha I would love to jam with him
“I wanna know if you still breathin’”
Lol
I’m glad he’s still around, too. 🥺
Well, he is Mr. White.
I read he had a massive heart attack. Who knows what you read, obviously that "massive heart attack" didn't work. God bless 😙
So much soul in this version, mates! Mr. Choc on the 1's & 2's for that hip hop vibe. Beat Junkies represent, represent!
A TRUE OG RIGHT HERE!!!!!!
Man that song reminds me of my early die bike racing years me and my enduro partner went through 3-4 cd a season was our good luck 🍀 we would blast it and sing along on the way to the race!!thank you for the kickass music it inspired me on and off the track and now my kids use the same ol Chevy truck jamming out to the same cd.thank you for all the great times in my life with your music keep it coming!!🤙
Love that acoustic work! Love how it’s evolved… Simple but so damn good! Everlast is a definite legend! The dude on samples is bad as hell!
One of My very favorite songs by Everlast!!! This acoustic version, blows My f n mind! 24 years later, this song is STILL A-Maze-Zing...wow...still more prolific than Most music today... (REALLY)WHAT IT'S LIKE
Rapidly becoming the best part of my Fridays. Stop reading, keep listening, genuinely making me want to listen more and more. Gets to that part of you the music really should. Much love.
Everyone struggles in life no matter of status. We are all born beautiful.
This music is so good!!! Well done Everlast!!!
One of my favorite songs....EVER.
This is my all time favorite song!
That aged voice and acoustic sound gives a great new style.
Thank you for the song!
Reminds me on Afhganistan Bagram base. Ringtone on my phone. But acoustic is acoustic. Greaaat. With love from Sarajevo
Thank's for serving man!!!!
My father retired from air Force right before this came out. We moved back to the states and it was my first CD. Still have it. And it STILL PLAYS. No skips.
The DJ is amazing. Great combination with the acoustic guitar
The year was 1993. Robin Williams was throwing a forbidden birthday party for his son and they’re both dancing on the dining room table to this man’s music. Ahhh childhood ❤
Took me a minute to get the reference 😂
Facts. That song transcended genres, ages, class, race, etc.
Ich Liebe diesen Song! Einer meiner absoluten Lieblingslieder und das seit 25 Jahren!❤
Prayers out to you and your family always homie. Thanks for doing your thing
This is gold
FIRE
Just watched his concert in anchorage last night! This is one of my all time favorite songs and he sung this version and sounded exactly like this live. It was so good and seeing him and his band live was amazing!!
I wanna be 18 again...hell is it really already 22 years? Good to see you Everlast...good to see you...
Yeah...same, I was 22 when this song came out, wish I could go back in time.. to be young again, and awesome music.. miss the 90’s..😐
A constant classic to be played and remembered forever!!!
Still fire after all these years. I only heard the radio version when this came out, never realized how deep these lyrics actually were.
SEE YAI AYE every once in a blue moon a song comes along that moves your soul and brother this is it !!!!
He tells a story
That is the Problem with the Radio and tv . You dont really listen and watch, you only consume! Think about it, its a Major issue.
What a kick ass song
Brings back great memories growing up into a young adult in 98 at 19 definitely a great ride and this song brings me back what a great decade to grow up in 90's 💯❤
That was really the last decade of great songs, this being one of them.
Wow! God bless you Everlast.
I love all the acoustic versions you release it makes me look forward to Friday. I can’t wait til March 13th seeing you live in Boston!!!!
Me too!!! Coming up from CT!!!
As a guy who's followed you since the late 80s, your growth has been an amazing process. Kudos.
Awesome
Ahhhh so many memories! Amazing song! Heard it 18 years ago and never get tired of it.
Always loved this song. Lyrics are timeless!
So great to see the man bring this stunning song back again.
Killer tune , Everlast my brother has soul
Damn, to be young again! Timeless!
I remember hearing this song when it first came out. I was a huge House of Pain, Cypress Hill, and Funkdoobiest fan, so I knew all about Everlast. I first heard it in a pub while having lunch. It was just background music, but I knew that voice right away. Immediately after lunch I walked down the street to buy the CD. I was so proud of Everlast for going in a bee direction. You could just tell his music was going in that direction. Love you E.
this song is a timeless classic. the lyrics still ring true today
The first of his kind. A rapper who knows how to play a guitar and can sing. This song is EVERLASTing! Now where's the new La Coka Nostra album?
I've been helping social outcasts professionally for 25 years, and I absolutely love this song ❤️
God bless his voice, Incredible !
well beyond bloody brilliant ... Eternal Everlast !!!

Still coming back for the best . Don’t stop brother
Finnaly I been waiting to hear this. Sounds good everlast.
Me and you man 👌 since the beggining of the acoustic sessions...
I wanna hear "I get by" it would be sick.
One of the most underrated albums of all time! Still soulful and honest 🎤 take me back to those drunken 16 year old nights
Фірма в чистому вигляді. Дякую!!!
This is so good. The version, the audio, videography, all of it. Thank you for being that occasional nugget of greatness I see on YT, but this was epic. I loved the original back in my day, graduated HS in 2000. I love this version just as much today.
This guy is America's storyteller
I just love him so much so talented down the earth I saw them in Alaska it was so damn nice and cool.kudos
Timeless classic
Some of my fondest memories playing this song
With my friends in my basement in Queens

Love this song, powerful lyrics man
That was so awesome!
I 💘 you brothers!
I absolutely love this song and the lyrics and it's so true. Great words of wisdom. Love the beat and the song as a whole. And love the acoustic stuff now.
There are so many songs I love, but this is the only song I could say I wish I’d written.
Everything about this song takes me back to this album’s release, back when you went out and bought CDs, and I picked this up randomly and was blown away. Been a massive Everlast fan since.
The only song that has a feeling anything like this is Iron Sky by Paolo Nutini
Best song ever, period.
