That scene of destroying Lulusia made me realize just how much emphasis was put on the butterflies near Imu. Butterflies are associated with life, death, and resurrection, but thanks to the modern prevalence of the "butterfly effect" makes me associate it with "consequences". And considering that I recently watched a vid describing the amount of material that can nuke a place be less than that of a butterfly... I dunno its getting me to thing more.
One Butterfly Effect being that Warm Eddy is the Displacement of Water & Super Heated “Mother Flame” Byproduct swirled up on the opposite side of the world that is shown just after the Title Box says “A few days later…” when The Strawhats arrive in front of the Warm Eddy Nami who is a Renowned Navigator is genuinely surprised that a Warm Eddy is ABOVE water and not under water Whatever Imu’s Sky Laser Weapon is shot a hole through the Planet they are on And in the earlier days Oda~sensei stated One Piece is considered to be a Post-Apocalyptic Series
I think having the intro, info section, and the outro is a smart thing because it can resolve the pacing issues a lot of people complain about in the anime and may even result in more consistent quality of animation as there’s less they have to animate.
Completely agreed. This is a great way to pace the episode out properly and I think that this is something that should be the way to move forward. It allows for the animation to really flow while keeping a pace that doesn’t have MINUTES of nonsense on screen that you have to skip through.
- I absolutely LOVE this opening with first being the song is super catchy (by the way Hiroshima Kitadani also did opening 19 with the band Kishidan) & all of the little details which I watched it so many times to find them - Can’t wait to see Lilith in the next episode because she is going to be voiced by Aya Hirano (just announced is getting married to Masashi Taniguchi) who also voices Haruhi (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya), Lucy & Layla (Fairy Tail), Nobume (Gintama), Misa (Death Note), Konata (Lucky Star), Dende (Dragon Ball), Migi (Parasyte), Shizu (Maria Holic), Menchi (HxH -2011), Okachimachi (Akiba Maid War), Kana (Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan), Katja (The Qwaser of Stigma), Rin (Catherine), Yamato (Ultimate Otaku Teacher), Monaka (Danganronpa 3), Nanael (Queen’s Blade), Arisa (Girls und Panzer), Maker (Space Dandy), PAI-MAN (Gatchaman Crowds), Mahiro (Buso Renkin), Garnet (Dragonaut), & any more like the Jap dub of Isabela (Encanto)
Its cool that we finally saw the true use of Franky's Strong Right! It's to quickly furl the sails. I never really thought of the utility of that move beyond being a gomu gomu like attack
This new style reminds me so hard about the Sun/Moon Series from Pokemon. Where it just looked so simpled down, but the animations were so much cleaner and nicer. Especially when Chopper flew off I had that feeling to 11/10.
It reminds me of The Digimon Movie’s Animation Style which allows for highly fluid and stylized animations while keeping a simplistic sheen over everything to allow the flow of motion between battles/actions to be more poppy and easier on the eyes to catch it all imo
honestly I'm so happy they are doing that chopper and robins corner(I hope this actually continues) and the endings I feel like having these things will fix the pacing completely
I listened to the Opening music with my eyes closed just now, there is not a single noticeable space between the music lyrics. That makes any song a forcefully glued song.
Luffy’s enies lobby outfit is my favorite one. The red and black work so well together. My favorite call back was the Amazon lilly outfit. Where the girls frilled up his shirt with flowers n stuff. He only wore that for a very limited time and yet it got featured here. So cool
I always had the impression with the manga chapter that it was Imu who said the "Lulusia never existed" line and the one who interrupted the communication, I was kinda hoping to hear Imu speak on this episode and at the end it felt weird that it was one of the Gorosei instead lol. I guess we'll inevitably hear them when they talk about the Mother Flame.
Personally, the best part of the episode is getting to see the Strawhats just out at sea together. We've had everyone all split up for so long then we get to see them get serious and fight in Onigashima together but we haven't had the fun sailing part for what I think is years now.
That chopper and Robin segment is neat but I also think that would be a great opportunity to adapt cover stories. They could have chopper and robin do it the same way, like have them “keeping tabs on germa 66” and have them narrate the germa 66 cold blooded voyage story, for example
Man I love One Piece!! Enjoyed this episode even more than 1071. Mori style is the ideal one for One Piece. The op is already my favorite, it has so many details (and spoilers)! Jinbei being happy to match outfits with Sanji or Sanji not liking the fit until Nami said something to him. I love everything involving the SHs, but the shot of Dragon and Vegapunk with the flowers is the highlight for me.
It may have been short because there was no flashbacks or reused animation scenes that we’ve seen 20x! Lol it was all new animation! I loved the episode!!! One of my favorites in awhile!!! The blast and entrance of imu was so kool too!

I have so many friends that were like “one piece is too long, I ain’t watching all that” be like “ya know… maybe one piece is kinda worth it” after listening to that opening. When they had the character clashes timed to the music and ending on the lucci and Luffy clash at the end. Words can’t describe how hype it is
Became an anime only at the beginning of the third wano act and gotta say its never been more satisfying to be one The sheer potential for spectacle this arc seems to have I'm hella hyped
The Sunny is only 39m long, it's actually quite small by ship standards, which makes sense given it's very small crew. It's wide, but it's not long at all. I don't know good American examples, but I think a lot of brits would be familiar with the antarctic exploration vessel the RRS discovery, a ship that is known for how small it is at 52m in length, the sunn is not that much more than a pleasure boat size that happens to be made of the strongest wood in the world and armed to the teeth with cola powered weaponry.
I was comparing it to other ships in the One Piece story. Even then, it's not the biggest, but yeah, obviously, ships in our world are bigger. But I bring up the size to just reference how huge that shark is.
My favorite part of this 10/10 episode was the seemingly intentional personification of the butterfly effect. Even if Im’s powers have nothing to do with the it, butterflies were shown around Im before, but never shown in such a dramatic and sinister way.
New Year New arc new cut Edit: Thinking about how the new animation looks it feels like a waterbed and by that I mean it feels very easy, laidback, pastel, soft and like a breath of fresh air

I think what's getting people thinking something is being foreshadowed in the scene with Vivi and kumas bubble, is the fact it transitions from the bubble seems to appear before Vivi as her figure transitions into bonney. Which is cool but weird. Usually transitions from character to character have some sort of connection. Even the scenes of Luffy clashing with lucci to kid and shanks to law and black beard to kuzan and garp. It all flows cause it makes sense once u know. But why Vivi to bonney? How are they connected? In no way that I know. At best it's representative of bonney being similar to Vivi in the context of how she'll continue on with the strawhats for a while and become a honorary member. But many easily jump to the Vivi gets kumas fruit theory. But unless oda told someone about this I doubt the animation staff had that in mind unless their fans of the theory. Didn't you realize that ep 1089 is the continuation of Luffy's dream (chopper said how he loves it, Franky said to make it happen you have to become king of the pirates first etc.
Did you know that the term "quasar" was first used in an article by astrophysicist Hong-Yee Chiu in May 1964, in Physics Today, to describe certain astronomically puzzling objects.
Also I loved seeing Afro Luffy again during the intro 😂
IMU'S THEME IS SO FUCKING LIKE HELLISH AND DRAMATIC I LOVE IT SO MUCH and Lulusia really feels almost like something right out of attack on titan. that's nuts.
Really disappointed they didn't use 'Difficult' for Lulusia's destruction, honestly. The new track just doesn't have the same sort of impact.
the post-alabasta outfit is canon btw, think back to the vivi goodbye
