What's weird is Puar is often separated from Yamcha, we don't need Puar to show up all the time with him, but when it comes to Tien, Chiaotzu is glued to him. You'd think they'd come up with some kind of strategy to fight together, like use his telekinesis beyond the one time it didn't work. But no, this strange child in his 30's just kind of hangs around, like a toddler dragged to their parent's events.
So I mostly agree with you. EXCEPT: Chiaotzu only wins because you treat Kibito as a composite with Shin. Kibito on his own is far more useless than Chiaotzu. At least Chiaotzu tried to help, and provided inspiration/anger for the others. Kibito was not only around far less, he didn't try to help. Rather his arrogance and ignorance was an actual hinderance as long as he was around. He objected to everything, failed to recognize what was happening, and delayed things with his complaints. So while Shin and thus Kibitokai was not worthless, Kibito himself was far more useless than Chiaotzu.
I respectfully disagree because Chiaotzu *tried* to help. Kibito *did* help. If not for him, Shin and Gohan both would've died, meaning no Z Sword plan, no Elder Kai, and no way to revive Goku before Buu destroys the planet. Chiaotzu hasn't really done anything to match this.
Even if kibito is threatened differently, he is still more useful than chiaotzu: - He was the one who healed Shin when he was on the verge of death. Essentially saving his life. - He heals and teleports gohan to the realm of kais so he could train and fight majin buu. Even if the list is small, that's still 2 more contributions than chiaotzu's.

In DBS filler, Chiaotzu is able to very breifly hold a base Goku back with telekinesis after the Universe 6 Tournament, and in the Moro saga, he is the one that helps Tien defeat the Megetta like prisoner with insults. Still totally useless but those are some minor feats for him.
yamcha was basically the main character of the first arc. goku wasn't a figured out character to toriyama yet so he was a pretty passive comedic character like most in the pilaf saga while yamcha played more of a traditional hero role ironically and he was the first character to ever save goku's life bulma's at the same time so it's not like you have to stretch that much to say he's useful just read the first arc.
also I don't think yamcha cheating on bulma if that is canon is why vegeta gets with bulma she probably would have anyway since the only thing backing up yamcha being a cheater is trunks saying so but bulma said she missed her chance with goku and talks as if yamcha is still with her when she says that so I think it would have happened anyway.
I would argue that Bulma's actually closer to the main character in the first arc, because she's usually the one that gets the gang into the situations and occasionally escalating them due to her selfishness and gung ho attitude. Though I think it would be more accurate to say that the first arc had an ensemble cast, except for maybe Puar. As for Yamcha cheating, I don't really care if it's canon or not, it seems pretty out of character for Yamcha to cheat, given nothing ever indicates it and Bulma has been shown to be overreactive, be in the manga or the anime filler. Not sure why people say it's a joke either since it's never treated like a punchline in the manga, unless you count Yamcha misunderstanding Goku by thinking he was saying Bulma and him should get married.
Yamcha isn't a cheater. In the original Dragon Ball, she only THOUGHT Yamcha was cheating because of that one chick who was trying to steal Goku's Dragon Balls. Bulma is full of assumptions, and when she thinks she's right it's already too late for everybody else. Yamcha never cheated, but because of anime tropes Bulma only saw him when the thief was trying to seduce him; a FAILED seduction, as well. Still, without Bulma breaking up with him (it was kinda mutual... Bulma was a pretty shitty girlfriend) Trunks never would've happened. So... all's well that ends well?

Chiaotzu isn’t given much of a place in the story but I hate when Dragon Ball creators rag on him like this. He’s not useless, especially when considering the anime continuity: - Trains and spars with the other Z-Fighters during Kami’s training to prepare for the Saiyan threats, helping them to grow in power - His sacrifice against Nappa was the catalyst for Tien’s Kikoho against Nappa, which could have killed Nappa if he hadn’t see it at the last second - Breaks Goku’s record of traveling Snake Way - Filler scene where Chiaotzu, Yamcha, Tien face off against Piccolo on King Kai’s planet and Chiaotzu is able to inflict significant damage on Piccolo via a telekinetic attack while latched to his back - Filler scene where he defeats Guldo - Serves as Tien’s training partner for the Android and Cell battles, helping him to grow in power - Defeats Bikkura Quoitur in Super for his first canon victory Chiaotzu didn’t deserve the treatment he got in the series, he should have been better exploited, at least against minor foes: a Saibaiman, Guldo, a Cell Jr, Babidi's henchman. His telekinesis could have been utilized in the hunt for Gero and even served as a Dende-type medic for the Z-Fighters in the Cell Games.
Dude, you have to be desperate when your arguments for Chiaotzu being useful includes training montages (that would have still happened without him being there) and filler. Even feats like his sacrifice giving Tien the impulse he needed to throw his strongest Kikoho or Chiaotzu breaking Goku's record are dubious as well.

I'm of two minds with that scene: on one hand, it is Toriyama's way to explain to the audience (and Goku, of course) that is why Bulma ends up with Vegeta and why Trunks even exist. So from viewpoint, it is the canon reason and that Yamcha did cheat. On the other hand, from an in-universe perspective where Bulma's track record of being overreactive, I'm willing to think Trunks is just repeating what his mom likely would've said. Not only that, but it makes little sense for Yamcha as a character to cheat on Bulma. He's gotten cocky during fights, sure, but that wouldn't equate to cheating. Even the Japanese voice actors for Yamcha and Bulma (and I think Vegeta too?) expressed how little it made sense when that first got brought up.

In there a RR army mook accosted Yamcha, however, from Bulma's point of view, it looked like they were kissing. Yamcha tried to explain this but Bulma wouldn't listen.

Yamcha is badass in his own right, yeah he's not one of the strongest like Goku or Vegeta but he's still strong and he is the reason why the others didn't die from the saibamen like he did.

The fight for the most useless character spot is mostly brought on by how the story had a revolving door of importance that most characters go in. Basically, the less Toriyama knew what to do with them, the less they do

Also, in favor of those who say that Yamcha didn’t cheat: Bulma sometimes literally thought Yamcha was a cheater when he actually didn’t anything wrong, and he was still the one apologizing… on second thought, maybe he did cheat on her because their relationship was toxic. And Tien getting beat up by possessed Roshi? Yup, we can blame the stupid Roshi off-screen power up from that arc.-_- And while Hercule was definitely useful, I wouldn’t count stalling for Goten and Trunks learning fusion as part of his usefulness because… Gotenks just ended up being a power up for Buu, so… Yeah, Gotenks feels mostly useless to me. Not as much as Chaozu but still can’t recall what he did that was truly useful aside from stalling for Ultimate Gohan… who also just became another power up for Buu.
If Yamcha stayed with Bulma, is it not possible they might’ve eventually had a full human child? If that was the case it’s not as super Saiyan trunks, but it’s still a child to be mentored by Gohan and possibly grow strong enough to take down the androids and cell in the future.
Chiaotzu was negative useful in the fight against the Saiyans. His sacrifice served to enrage Tenshinhan who then used that rage to kill himself while accomplishing absolutely nothing against Nappa.
I think the funniest part about Chiaotsu is that I do not ever recall that the narrator said he died against the future androids. The idea of him being so underpowered that he isn't noticed by either the androids or Goku Black is hilarious to me

Here is a video idea via a question: Just how strong should these characters actually be? The scaling in Super just doesn't make any sense at all. Everyone just doesn't feel like they are at the right amount of power. I'll put my two cents in the reply section for this from what I have seen and thought.
To begin, going to give an explanation on how I judge the scaling of how powerful these characters should be with two main points: The training environment and who is with them. The environment plays a factor into this and to give an example of it is in the Saiyan Saga, leading up to the battle with Nappa and Vegeta. The fight with Raditz had Goku and Piccolo being roughly around the same range of power, with the humans being below, but not by much. Leading up to it, everyone on Earth was constantly training while Goku took time to reach King Kai's planet, so Goku had less time to train. But due to the harsher gravity, Goku was much stronger than any other Z-Fighters. This is also seen with Goku's week of training to Namek and the Hyperbolic Time Chamber were all harsh environments that allowed him to grow much stronger. Now the second part, who is with them. This is based on having someone to train with or train you. We see examples of this in Super leading to the Universe 6 tournament, where Vegeta states that having Goku to spare with enables him to become stronger faster than on his own. And Goku and Gohan being stronger than Vegeta and Future Trunks after the Time Chamber, which they were in for less time and spent it unlocking Super Saiyan for Gohan, they trained together over Vegeta training mostly alone. Having a training partner makes the training better. And who is offering the training plays a part as well, scene with Goku's training with Master Roshi allowed him and Krillin to surpass Yamcha in power, and Vegeta got better than Goku while training with Whis. With those two points said, I am going to point out current ranges of power and problems at different points, stating how strong they should be in comparison to each other. Bringing up key characters at certain points. Starting with the Buu Saga, at the point before Buu is released, it is Goku being the strongest, then Vegeta, and there is an argument on Piccolo and Gohan being after that. Goku trained the entire time, while Vegeta doesn't have as much heart into his training without a rival. Piccolo is catching up and Gohan does no real training, actually falling off with it. So, Gohan can be argued the weakest at this point. In Battle of Gods, there is an argument of Vegeta being the strongest in base form due to training more often and better condition that Goku since Goku was working. They would have surpassed Gohan since once again, he doesn't train. Piccolo would be working on surpassing Gohan, and Gotenks might be stronger than Ultimate Gohan, but hard to say. Goten and Trunks wouldn't be training as much, but fusing grants a massive power boost that could lead to them surpassing Ultimate Gohan. Then Goku and Vegeta become way more powerful with the base power increase of their God form and training with Whis. Now, Resurrection F arc, and this is going to anger people. Gohan is the weakest, Piccolo and Gotenks have surpassed him and could be argued on which is stronger, Vegeta is the strongest with Goku after. And Frieza...would be weaker than Gohan. Okay, Gohan weakest. Gohan lost his Ultimate form, so his power drops a lot, going to the point before he got it, especially since he doesn't train as hard and often. He has gone soft. Piccolo would be argued stronger than Gotenks since unlike the fused fighter, he is training and working hard on surpassing himself. Frieza should not be this powerful, at all. It has been almost 15 years since he got revived, and everyone has surpassed him by leagues, even Yamcha. 4 months of training would not get him to match base form Goku without his gold form. At best, I could see Golden Frieza being a threat to Gohan, but not Piccolo and Gotenks. Am I supposed to believe that after being gone for 15-ish years and with four months of training, he is stronger than Goku and Vegeta who have gotten 4 new forms, the massive boost in power that god ki gave them, and training all that time, with Whis as well?! And Vegeta is stronger since he trained with Whis longer, and Goku hasn't used the Kaio-Ken yet, so Vegeta being the strongest works. Universe 6 tournament, how is Cabba that powerful? He is matching Base Vegeta who has the boost in power from the god form, training with Whis, and 3 years of training with Goku. Cabba also has an army of Saiyans to fight alongside with would not be that strong, especially with Vegeta who pushes himself to fight alone. Goku Black arc...and how is Goku Black and Future Trunks this powerful? Future Trunks would easily be stronger than Super Saiyan 2 Gohan during the Cell Games, but not as strong as Super Saiyan 3 Goku was during Buu. And Goku Black being able to handle Goku and Vegeta so well in their round 2 fight in the future. Super Saiyan Rose being stronger than Blue, I can see that. But how could Super Saiyan Rage Future Trunks surpass the god forms' power? And Vegito would easily defeat Fused Zamasu since Zamasu is barely strong enough to handle a Super Saiyan 2. Actually, thinking on it, both Goku Black and Zamasu were able to fight Super Saiyan Goku without a transformation, so, wouldn't Base Goku and Vegeta be weaker as base Vegito than Fused Zamasu would be? Now, Tournament of Power is where a lot of problems rise. Gohan...my god Gohan. He is no where, and I mean no where near as powerful as Goku, his training with Piccolo for the Tournament of Power was just to regain his Ultimate Form and regain his combat senses and skills. 17 has no possible way of fighting Super Saiyan Blue Goku to an even point. And Frieza only got control over his Golden Form while Goku has had a lot of training, years in the Chamber too, to get far stronger. 17 had no one to train with, no environment to push himself, at best, he is around Gohan's power at the end of the Cell Games. With Goku's extreme power boost and all of his training, his base form would be stronger than Ultimate Gohan. Piccolo would easily be the third strongest member of Universe 7 in the Tournament of Power, with Gohan below him, than Frieza, 18 since she had Krillin to train with, hard to place 17, Tien, and Krillin but Krillin being stronger than Tien since he had 18 to train with, and Master Roshi being the weakest since he let the others grow stronger, seen in the 22nd Martial Arts Tournament. Kale makes no sense since she goes to being stronger than Super Saiyan Blue Goku to weaker than Super Saiyan 2 Goku. Though, I will say, in the manga, it makes sense that Ultimate Gohan would be equal in power to a fused Legendary Super Saiyan 2/ Though, Kefla should not be anywhere near as powerful as Goku. I'd say the next arcs would be Moro, Broly, Granola, and then Super Hero in that order. Moro takes place almost exactly at the end of the Tournament of Power, Frieza didn't have his Black Form in Broly, and Super Hero is a time skip. No problem in Moro. Frieza should not be able to survive Broly at all. Granola, Frieza training in that Time Chamber to surpass Goku and Vegeta makes sense. And the argument on Goku and Vegeta surpassing Broly makes sense with how close in power Granola and Gas were after their wishes. Now Super Hero, and more hate. Gohan is no where near as strong as he seems, Beast Form is such a bad thing and I can't figure out how it rivals Goku and Vegeta's power since Gohan shouldn't even be around god powered base form Goku and Vegeta at this point. If Gamma 1 and 2 were as powerful as they said they were, rivaling Goku and Vegeta, no way Piccolo and Gohan would survive at all, they would be far too outclassed. Piccolo...actually makes sense for being around Goku and Vegeta's league of power. He is always training, and the wish to unlock his potential has different points to bring up. Unlocking the potential of Nail, and then the arguments for unlocking Kami, Piccolo, Demon King Piccolo, and/or their original self. Then Shenron granting him something extra, and potentially the power that Kami gave Shenron upon making him returning to him since Dende powered Shenron up. Gohan suddenly unlocking a transformation that rivals and surpasses Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta just doesn't make any sense to me. If you argue these points, go ahead and explain what you think is the correct scaling should be or I am wrong for overlooking something. With my point being said, bringing up how to correctly power everyone up in my opinion in the reply to his.
My thoughts on how to increase everyone's power to a point it makes sense and what level they should be at. Golden Frieza's power increase - his four months should be spent training in the Time Chamber used in the Moro Arc. It grants him plenty of time to train and an environment to do so. While the time range still doesn't work in my opinion, it is the best explanation for how Frieza could catch up to Goku and Vegeta. Gohan - after Resurrection F, Gohan gets Super Saiyan God, granting him a massive boost in power. And in Super Hero, Gohan combining his Ultimate Form and God Form to become Beast would be the best way to explain how he is that powerful. Piccolo - just having Gohan with the God Form would grant him a stronger training partner. 17 and 18 - Surpassed Super Saiyan 2 Gohan before he got Ultimate is me being generous. Future Trunks - Go more into detail his time with the Supreme Kai in his timeline, build up that and turn his Super Saiyan Rage into a variation of a Kai and Super Saiyan form. It would meld so well with the God and Saiyan power that Black is using. Goku Black - show him fighting in other timelines, getting Zenkai boosts and other things to explain why he is so powerful.
Due to daima being a thing now (along with new lore regarding shin's connection to the demon realm) people are now bashing shin for not mentioning anything about the demon realm to Goku and co. completely disregarding that: 1. Toriyama had no intention of expanding the demon realm beyond Dabura at the time. 2. There were more focus on defeating Buu so any information about the realm doesn't help the situation there were in at the time so why bother mentioning it. 3. For the longest time people from the realm were forbidden to leave it to go to the outside realm plus the fact that Gomah believe that Buu was capable of destroying all of the demon realm so them getting involve even after finding out that there king was dead was extremely low. 4. Shin has no obligation to say anything about his past to anyone (especially since he just met Goku and co). Plus from a writing perspective characters not revealing everything about themselves can leave the door open for more stories to tell about them if the author wants to.
imo it's not even a matter of headcanons, it's just outright illogical that Yamcha would ever cheat on Bulma when even he was thrilled with the idea of marrying Bulma, like come on it's just ridiculous to assume "oh yeah he must've definitely cheated on her, definitely" specially when looking at how Bulma was always lusting after men. Even after supposedly staying with Yamcha she still was like "damn i really missed my chance on that Goku boy huh". Anyways that's my take

I think the series would have been more consistent, with a perfect starting point seven years after the defeat of Cell. The mechanics of God Ki being introduced by the Supreme Kai rather than Beerus, considering the theme revolving around Boo related to magic and mysticism along with the mystical nature of God Ki(Gohan's potential unleashed form was even called "Mystic Gohan" by some fans, and even the elder Kaioshin used mystical methods to unlock Gohan's hidden potential). This segwaying into the God of Destruction Beerus Saga would have been a much more smoother progression. If you find this comment, I would definitely love to hear your thoughts on it!!! Yamcha isn't useless, he's just been made to be the butt of the joke in the franchise so he's definitely useful to some. And yes I still find it hard to believe he cheated on Bulma and that's why they broke up. If there's one character in the series that is actually useless is Chiaotzu. Besides his one moment when he sacrificed himself to stop Nappa, he hasn't really done much at all throughout the series.
In chaoutzu's defense there are 2 useful things he's done: 1.) Not listening to Crane anymore after he told him to paralyze Goku and Tien which is ironic because his most useful thing is: Doing nothing lol. 2.) He did give his Energy to the Spirit Bomb at the end. It was at least a LITTLE useful

Chiaotzu only wins because you treat Kibito as a composite with Shin. Kibito on his own is far more useless than Chiaotzu. At least Chiaotzu tried to help, and provided inspiration/anger for the others. Kibito was not only around far less, he didn't try to help. Rather his arrogance and ignorance was an actual hinderance as long as he was around. He objected to everything, failed to recognize what was happening, and delayed things with his complaints.
So while Shin and thus Kibitokai was not worthless, Kibito himself was far more useless than Chiaotzu.

I respectfully disagree because Chiaotzu *tried* to help. Kibito *did* help. If not for him, Shin and Gohan both would've died, meaning no Z Sword plan, no Elder Kai, and no way to revive Goku before Buu destroys the planet. Chiaotzu hasn't really done anything to match this.
Even if kibito is threatened differently, he is still more useful than chiaotzu:
- He was the one who healed Shin when he was on the verge of death. Essentially saving his life.
- He heals and teleports gohan to the realm of kais so he could train and fight majin buu.
Even if the list is small, that's still 2 more contributions than chiaotzu's.

In DBS filler, Chiaotzu is able to very breifly hold a base Goku back with telekinesis after the Universe 6 Tournament, and in the Moro saga, he is the one that helps Tien defeat the Megetta like prisoner with insults. Still totally useless but those are some minor feats for him.

yamcha was basically the main character of the first arc. goku wasn't a figured out character to toriyama yet so he was a pretty passive comedic character like most in the pilaf saga while yamcha played more of a traditional hero role ironically and he was the first character to ever save goku's life bulma's at the same time so it's not like you have to stretch that much to say he's useful just read the first arc.
also I don't think yamcha cheating on bulma if that is canon is why vegeta gets with bulma she probably would have anyway since the only thing backing up yamcha being a cheater is trunks saying so but bulma said she missed her chance with goku and talks as if yamcha is still with her when she says that so I think it would have happened anyway.
I would argue that Bulma's actually closer to the main character in the first arc, because she's usually the one that gets the gang into the situations and occasionally escalating them due to her selfishness and gung ho attitude. Though I think it would be more accurate to say that the first arc had an ensemble cast, except for maybe Puar.
As for Yamcha cheating, I don't really care if it's canon or not, it seems pretty out of character for Yamcha to cheat, given nothing ever indicates it and Bulma has been shown to be overreactive, be in the manga or the anime filler. Not sure why people say it's a joke either since it's never treated like a punchline in the manga, unless you count Yamcha misunderstanding Goku by thinking he was saying Bulma and him should get married.

Yamcha isn't a cheater. In the original Dragon Ball, she only THOUGHT Yamcha was cheating because of that one chick who was trying to steal Goku's Dragon Balls. Bulma is full of assumptions, and when she thinks she's right it's already too late for everybody else. Yamcha never cheated, but because of anime tropes Bulma only saw him when the thief was trying to seduce him; a FAILED seduction, as well.
Still, without Bulma breaking up with him (it was kinda mutual... Bulma was a pretty shitty girlfriend) Trunks never would've happened. So... all's well that ends well?

Chiaotzu isn’t given much of a place in the story but I hate when Dragon Ball creators rag on him like this. He’s not useless, especially when considering the anime continuity:
- Trains and spars with the other Z-Fighters during Kami’s training to prepare for the Saiyan threats, helping them to grow in power
- His sacrifice against Nappa was the catalyst for Tien’s Kikoho against Nappa, which could have killed Nappa if he hadn’t see it at the last second
- Breaks Goku’s record of traveling Snake Way
- Filler scene where Chiaotzu, Yamcha, Tien face off against Piccolo on King Kai’s planet and Chiaotzu is able to inflict significant damage on Piccolo via a telekinetic attack while latched to his back
- Filler scene where he defeats Guldo
- Serves as Tien’s training partner for the Android and Cell battles, helping him to grow in power
- Defeats Bikkura Quoitur in Super for his first canon victory
Chiaotzu didn’t deserve the treatment he got in the series, he should have been better exploited, at least against minor foes: a Saibaiman, Guldo, a Cell Jr, Babidi's henchman. His telekinesis could have been utilized in the hunt for Gero and even served as a Dende-type medic for the Z-Fighters in the Cell Games.
Dude, you have to be desperate when your arguments for Chiaotzu being useful includes training montages (that would have still happened without him being there) and filler. Even feats like his sacrifice giving Tien the impulse he needed to throw his strongest Kikoho or Chiaotzu breaking Goku's record are dubious as well.

I'm of two minds with that scene: on one hand, it is Toriyama's way to explain to the audience (and Goku, of course) that is why Bulma ends up with Vegeta and why Trunks even exist. So from viewpoint, it is the canon reason and that Yamcha did cheat. On the other hand, from an in-universe perspective where Bulma's track record of being overreactive, I'm willing to think Trunks is just repeating what his mom likely would've said. Not only that, but it makes little sense for Yamcha as a character to cheat on Bulma. He's gotten cocky during fights, sure, but that wouldn't equate to cheating. Even the Japanese voice actors for Yamcha and Bulma (and I think Vegeta too?) expressed how little it made sense when that first got brought up.

Just how strong should these characters actually be?
The scaling in Super just doesn't make any sense at all. Everyone just doesn't feel like they are at the right amount of power.
I'll put my two cents in the reply section for this from what I have seen and thought.
To begin, going to give an explanation on how I judge the scaling of how powerful these characters should be with two main points: The training environment and who is with them.
The environment plays a factor into this and to give an example of it is in the Saiyan Saga, leading up to the battle with Nappa and Vegeta. The fight with Raditz had Goku and Piccolo being roughly around the same range of power, with the humans being below, but not by much. Leading up to it, everyone on Earth was constantly training while Goku took time to reach King Kai's planet, so Goku had less time to train. But due to the harsher gravity, Goku was much stronger than any other Z-Fighters. This is also seen with Goku's week of training to Namek and the Hyperbolic Time Chamber were all harsh environments that allowed him to grow much stronger.
Now the second part, who is with them. This is based on having someone to train with or train you. We see examples of this in Super leading to the Universe 6 tournament, where Vegeta states that having Goku to spare with enables him to become stronger faster than on his own. And Goku and Gohan being stronger than Vegeta and Future Trunks after the Time Chamber, which they were in for less time and spent it unlocking Super Saiyan for Gohan, they trained together over Vegeta training mostly alone. Having a training partner makes the training better. And who is offering the training plays a part as well, scene with Goku's training with Master Roshi allowed him and Krillin to surpass Yamcha in power, and Vegeta got better than Goku while training with Whis.
With those two points said, I am going to point out current ranges of power and problems at different points, stating how strong they should be in comparison to each other. Bringing up key characters at certain points.
Starting with the Buu Saga, at the point before Buu is released, it is Goku being the strongest, then Vegeta, and there is an argument on Piccolo and Gohan being after that. Goku trained the entire time, while Vegeta doesn't have as much heart into his training without a rival. Piccolo is catching up and Gohan does no real training, actually falling off with it. So, Gohan can be argued the weakest at this point.
In Battle of Gods, there is an argument of Vegeta being the strongest in base form due to training more often and better condition that Goku since Goku was working. They would have surpassed Gohan since once again, he doesn't train. Piccolo would be working on surpassing Gohan, and Gotenks might be stronger than Ultimate Gohan, but hard to say. Goten and Trunks wouldn't be training as much, but fusing grants a massive power boost that could lead to them surpassing Ultimate Gohan.
Then Goku and Vegeta become way more powerful with the base power increase of their God form and training with Whis.
Now, Resurrection F arc, and this is going to anger people. Gohan is the weakest, Piccolo and Gotenks have surpassed him and could be argued on which is stronger, Vegeta is the strongest with Goku after. And Frieza...would be weaker than Gohan. Okay, Gohan weakest. Gohan lost his Ultimate form, so his power drops a lot, going to the point before he got it, especially since he doesn't train as hard and often. He has gone soft. Piccolo would be argued stronger than Gotenks since unlike the fused fighter, he is training and working hard on surpassing himself. Frieza should not be this powerful, at all. It has been almost 15 years since he got revived, and everyone has surpassed him by leagues, even Yamcha. 4 months of training would not get him to match base form Goku without his gold form. At best, I could see Golden Frieza being a threat to Gohan, but not Piccolo and Gotenks. Am I supposed to believe that after being gone for 15-ish years and with four months of training, he is stronger than Goku and Vegeta who have gotten 4 new forms, the massive boost in power that god ki gave them, and training all that time, with Whis as well?! And Vegeta is stronger since he trained with Whis longer, and Goku hasn't used the Kaio-Ken yet, so Vegeta being the strongest works.
Universe 6 tournament, how is Cabba that powerful? He is matching Base Vegeta who has the boost in power from the god form, training with Whis, and 3 years of training with Goku. Cabba also has an army of Saiyans to fight alongside with would not be that strong, especially with Vegeta who pushes himself to fight alone.
Goku Black arc...and how is Goku Black and Future Trunks this powerful? Future Trunks would easily be stronger than Super Saiyan 2 Gohan during the Cell Games, but not as strong as Super Saiyan 3 Goku was during Buu. And Goku Black being able to handle Goku and Vegeta so well in their round 2 fight in the future. Super Saiyan Rose being stronger than Blue, I can see that. But how could Super Saiyan Rage Future Trunks surpass the god forms' power? And Vegito would easily defeat Fused Zamasu since Zamasu is barely strong enough to handle a Super Saiyan 2. Actually, thinking on it, both Goku Black and Zamasu were able to fight Super Saiyan Goku without a transformation, so, wouldn't Base Goku and Vegeta be weaker as base Vegito than Fused Zamasu would be?
Now, Tournament of Power is where a lot of problems rise. Gohan...my god Gohan. He is no where, and I mean no where near as powerful as Goku, his training with Piccolo for the Tournament of Power was just to regain his Ultimate Form and regain his combat senses and skills. 17 has no possible way of fighting Super Saiyan Blue Goku to an even point. And Frieza only got control over his Golden Form while Goku has had a lot of training, years in the Chamber too, to get far stronger. 17 had no one to train with, no environment to push himself, at best, he is around Gohan's power at the end of the Cell Games. With Goku's extreme power boost and all of his training, his base form would be stronger than Ultimate Gohan. Piccolo would easily be the third strongest member of Universe 7 in the Tournament of Power, with Gohan below him, than Frieza, 18 since she had Krillin to train with, hard to place 17, Tien, and Krillin but Krillin being stronger than Tien since he had 18 to train with, and Master Roshi being the weakest since he let the others grow stronger, seen in the 22nd Martial Arts Tournament. Kale makes no sense since she goes to being stronger than Super Saiyan Blue Goku to weaker than Super Saiyan 2 Goku. Though, I will say, in the manga, it makes sense that Ultimate Gohan would be equal in power to a fused Legendary Super Saiyan 2/ Though, Kefla should not be anywhere near as powerful as Goku.
I'd say the next arcs would be Moro, Broly, Granola, and then Super Hero in that order. Moro takes place almost exactly at the end of the Tournament of Power, Frieza didn't have his Black Form in Broly, and Super Hero is a time skip.
No problem in Moro.
Frieza should not be able to survive Broly at all.
Granola, Frieza training in that Time Chamber to surpass Goku and Vegeta makes sense. And the argument on Goku and Vegeta surpassing Broly makes sense with how close in power Granola and Gas were after their wishes.
Now Super Hero, and more hate. Gohan is no where near as strong as he seems, Beast Form is such a bad thing and I can't figure out how it rivals Goku and Vegeta's power since Gohan shouldn't even be around god powered base form Goku and Vegeta at this point. If Gamma 1 and 2 were as powerful as they said they were, rivaling Goku and Vegeta, no way Piccolo and Gohan would survive at all, they would be far too outclassed. Piccolo...actually makes sense for being around Goku and Vegeta's league of power. He is always training, and the wish to unlock his potential has different points to bring up. Unlocking the potential of Nail, and then the arguments for unlocking Kami, Piccolo, Demon King Piccolo, and/or their original self. Then Shenron granting him something extra, and potentially the power that Kami gave Shenron upon making him returning to him since Dende powered Shenron up. Gohan suddenly unlocking a transformation that rivals and surpasses Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta just doesn't make any sense to me.
If you argue these points, go ahead and explain what you think is the correct scaling should be or I am wrong for overlooking something.
With my point being said, bringing up how to correctly power everyone up in my opinion in the reply to his.
My thoughts on how to increase everyone's power to a point it makes sense and what level they should be at.
Golden Frieza's power increase - his four months should be spent training in the Time Chamber used in the Moro Arc. It grants him plenty of time to train and an environment to do so. While the time range still doesn't work in my opinion, it is the best explanation for how Frieza could catch up to Goku and Vegeta.
Gohan - after Resurrection F, Gohan gets Super Saiyan God, granting him a massive boost in power. And in Super Hero, Gohan combining his Ultimate Form and God Form to become Beast would be the best way to explain how he is that powerful.
Piccolo - just having Gohan with the God Form would grant him a stronger training partner.
17 and 18 - Surpassed Super Saiyan 2 Gohan before he got Ultimate is me being generous.
Future Trunks - Go more into detail his time with the Supreme Kai in his timeline, build up that and turn his Super Saiyan Rage into a variation of a Kai and Super Saiyan form. It would meld so well with the God and Saiyan power that Black is using.
Goku Black - show him fighting in other timelines, getting Zenkai boosts and other things to explain why he is so powerful.

Well I predicted "weakest", not "most useless", and didn't expect Yamcha to fill either role, so I guess I was sort of right either way 😂
Due to daima being a thing now (along with new lore regarding shin's connection to the demon realm) people are now bashing shin for not mentioning anything about the demon realm to Goku and co. completely disregarding that:
1. Toriyama had no intention of expanding the demon realm beyond Dabura at the time.
2. There were more focus on defeating Buu so any information about the realm doesn't help the situation there were in at the time so why bother mentioning it.
3. For the longest time people from the realm were forbidden to leave it to go to the outside realm plus the fact that Gomah believe that Buu was capable of destroying all of the demon realm so them getting involve even after finding out that there king was dead was extremely low.
4. Shin has no obligation to say anything about his past to anyone (especially since he just met Goku and co). Plus from a writing perspective characters not revealing everything about themselves can leave the door open for more stories to tell about them if the author wants to.

imo it's not even a matter of headcanons, it's just outright illogical that Yamcha would ever cheat on Bulma when even he was thrilled with the idea of marrying Bulma, like come on it's just ridiculous to assume "oh yeah he must've definitely cheated on her, definitely" specially when looking at how Bulma was always lusting after men. Even after supposedly staying with Yamcha she still was like "damn i really missed my chance on that Goku boy huh".

Hey Carthu!!! Big fan!! Love the content you put out, especially the what if stories, which gave me an idea for the concept: "What if Dragonball Super started with the Majin Boo Saga?" I think the series would have been more consistent, with a perfect starting point seven years after the defeat of Cell. The mechanics of God Ki being introduced by the Supreme Kai rather than Beerus, considering the theme revolving around Boo related to magic and mysticism along with the mystical nature of God Ki(Gohan's potential unleashed form was even called "Mystic Gohan" by some fans, and even the elder Kaioshin used mystical methods to unlock Gohan's hidden potential). This segwaying into the God of Destruction Beerus Saga would have been a much more smoother progression. If you find this comment, I would definitely love to hear your thoughts on it!!! Thank you😊

Yamcha isn't useless, he's just been made to be the butt of the joke in the franchise so he's definitely useful to some. And yes I still find it hard to believe he cheated on Bulma and that's why they broke up.
If there's one character in the series that is actually useless is Chiaotzu. Besides his one moment when he sacrificed himself to stop Nappa, he hasn't really done much at all throughout the series.
In chaoutzu's defense there are 2 useful things he's done:
1.) Not listening to Crane anymore after he told him to paralyze Goku and Tien which is ironic because his most useful thing is: Doing nothing lol.
2.) He did give his Energy to the Spirit Bomb at the end.
