Great info man. I agree that we all have our own paths that get us there that won't necessarily work for others. I will mention that you don't need a degree to take advantage of an R-ATP at 21 years old. The only regulatory advantage with an accredited degree is the reduction of hours. I will also mention that with most degree plans, CFI is not offered until late Junior year or until your Senior year. As a result, most undergraduates don't begin their time building until they are either seniors or have already graduated. This means the 1000 hours needed for a R-ATP probably isn't achieved until they are 23 years old. Still incredibly young, but the 21 year old RATP holders you mentioned are typically those that went straight into flight school full time right after their H.S. diploma.

Thanks for the comment! I can’t speak for anywhere else, but the school I’m at has no age restriction to do CFI. As soon as you get there, you can do it. I’ll be instructing by the end of sophomore year so it makes sense for my path. As you said, different for everyone.

Great video, thank you for sharing this information.
Please I have some questions to ask.
First, was is the best university to study aviation in new york ( farmingdale or vaughn..)?
Second, do you recommend to get the PPL in a part 61 academy and then join the university? And what flight academy you recommend in ny?
I wish you all the best❤❤

your right everyone’s path is different! but may i add you can get an r-atp at 1500 hours at 21 without going to a college. however so you want to go to like a corporate job first then a. major airline?

Will having a PPL prior to college benefit you as opposed to not having one? If so how? I’m also interested in Florida tech.

While attending an aviation college, is it like other colleges with summer and winter breaks?

Some of my local community colleges offer aviation. Is it possible to go there for two yrs then transfer to the 4 yr like UND or Purdue to maybe save a significant amount of money or is it not really a viable route and it so why or why not?

Do most colleges allow you to major in aviation management while also learning to fly and getting all your licenses? I though you needed to major in commercial pilot or aeronautics science in order to do the flight training part. I would love to major in a separate degree and do my flight training at the same degree because you can't get a job with a commercial pilot degree or an aeronautical science degree. Also most aviation universities cost $200-$250k compared to a local flight school that costs $80k. Yea you might have to wait another year or two to get your ATP but you would save yourself over $100k in loans and debt, also you could build your hours up more since you have to wait longer for the ATP and you could fly more often for work because you won't be in school. Id appreciate any input.

I have a question i know its been 10 months but if your reading this it would be appreciated. So I am looking into an aviation college that offers 4 year bachelor degrees but also offers Associate degrees in aviation. Im in a situation im gonna finish high school soon and want to get an ATP sooner then 23 the associate would save the extra 2 years of school so it feels like less of a commitment and then when i wait to turn 21 I become a CFI and build the 1250 hours. I was thinking if the airline market gets saturated I can always transfer those credits over to a online university that offers an aviation B.S online so I become more competitive. Do you think the Associate route would be good and then go onto the B.S. later if it feels needed or do you think it would only be worth it getting a 4 year degree out the gate.
