Sitting in the Chicago airport from missing our flight to Paris yesterday😢 & wished I’d seen this before I left. Some of the best travel hacks I have seen & I’m thinking I’ve packed too much in my carry on & back pack for my 12 days trip. Thanks you.
I love packing like this and it never failed me. It never happened that I needed something more than I packed, unless it was something completely trivial that I could find in the first convenience store. The first rule: pack only the things that you love and the second wear the heaviest stuff. You are cute as a button at the end, love the backpack and the coat.
Red lipstick - yes!! Emirates flight attendants look so good because of that rich red lipstick. Every nationality from around the world looks good in red lipstick.
Excellent vid, Diana! I LOVE the idea of a condensed, all in one. I met up with family who were visiting on business, we played tourist in the city, then back across the bay to their hotel where my friend met us poolside, whom I left with for a week stay at her house. I had one large, beautiful blue nylon tote. My niece asks where's your luggage? I said this is it. She couldn't believe it! And it's so true about the hoodies. I did feel confident since my friend and I were about the same size, though our styles were different. So that was plan B in case! But I was very proud of myself that I'd managed to travel so light. It felt great! It's something I strive for in more ways than one lol

I have a similar backpack that I take on all my travels. As a backpack only traveler I recently went to Italy and on a Mediterranean cruise and had plenty of clothing options for the whole two weeks. One thing I would be aware of is the pocket on the back-it’s a pickpocket’s dream.
I’m so glad the YT algorithm put you in my feed. I will be trying out several of your tips. I’m shooting for a carryon 😅… I’m a diva so this will be a challenge. A fun challenge- PS loved your “not around the neck” scarf video.
Thank you Diana, great tips. Although I am not a traveler I really enjoyed hearing your tips that I felt could be utilized in other areas of pairing down your items. When I did do a small about of traveling I had it ALL wrong as I underpacked on accessories and over packed on cloths and shoes...years later NOW I see where I went wrong!

Great tips! Thank you very much. 😍I always travel with backpacks but I didn't even know there are some that open up like a suitcase. The one you've got does look cute and stylish indeed!
Thats so funny cause I’m literally traveling this week and was looking for ideas on how to pack light so I don’t need to check a bag. My favorite tip was overpacking on accessories, they definitely make a difference and will take any basic outfit to another level. Thanks for the tips!

I don’t travel much but if I was going out of town, definitely I want to buy that backpack. I usually just pack a carry-on but I like the backpack idea better, we just gave all our old suitcases to donation store
I really enjoyed this; I LOL-ed a few times - thank you. A question perhaps you can help me with: I haven't been able to find cashmere - or anything like it - that doesn't make my skin hot and blotchy or at lease a tiny bit itchy (a tiny bit itchy for over an hour and I'm ready to... well, you get the idea.😆) I can't handle most polyester either lately. Le Sigh.
Diana, I just love your videos. We tend to travel to warmer climates and the only way I can launder is in the bathroom sink of our hotel. Any advice from you would be valuable!
The black yoga pants were All In Motion from Target at some point, and there is something similar there now which I've tagged but it's not exact. The red blouse is Vince Camuto and the blouses I tagged were the closest match I could find but not exact.
Clothes have to get quite wrinkled. How do you deal with that? Even your scarves will wrinkle. I plan to travel for an extended period on Europe next summer but don't think I'll have access to irons. I guess i should pack all knits? Any suggestions?
Definitely some clothes wrinkle more than others. Sometimes rolling them helps, sometimes it's worse. You kind of have to experiment before you go. I like to unpack and hang up items as soon as I arrive, which helps. A silk scarf can be "reset" by 3 minutes of soaking then hanging over a shower rod to dry, which happens pretty fast.
I only use a backpack, I always use compression cubes. I wear my bulky shoes or boots and pack flats. I’ll be in LA and San Francisco for a month. It will be a challenge! I love clothes and plan to thrift -theresa
Hi, no. Those were just similar looking pants, but I have found something even more similar, which is the same brand: All In Motion, which is sold at Target. I will tag it in the video in a minute. I am not sure it's an exact match but they seem extremely similar.
Great backpack! Silk is the best for packing so love the lightweight mock turtleneck under the silk dress idea. What is the brand? Reminds me of Negative Whipped which is so expensive. I have that Quince sweater in the most beautiful shade of green and now I want the white one. 😍 Very versatile.
It’s a shame that UA-cam chose not to show me this video until after the promotion ended because I was looking for a carry on just like that one. Never mind, I coincidentally ordered a backpack anyway, so the video was really useful with the hints and tips on co-ordinating a capsule wardrobe. I have changed my subscription to subscribe to all so I don’t miss your videos in the future. I especially liked the scarf tips. My bag arrives on Wednesday, but I’m not sure how I am going to pack 2 A4 study books, 1 laptop, tablet and clothes as well, but we’ll see! May I please ask the brand and where the yoga pants are from? They are beautiful and I’m always looking for dual purpose clothing ❤. Thank you for another fantastic video.
Hi! Sorry you missed it! I have now tagged the closest match I could find to these yoga pants but the brand is All In Motion sold at Target. You could also Google "all in motion high rise, wide leg yoga pants" and see if you can find them somewhere.
This vid reminds me of how much I want a Cotopaxi bag. 😅 They also open like suitcases, but they're very expensive, so they may not be in everyone's budget or lvl of use. But if u travel a lot w backpacks, the longevity due to quality would be worth it. Cotopaxi seems to be on the same quality level as Timbuk2 based on travel packing channel reviews. I've had a Timbuk2 backpack for 14 yrs and it's a bit faded, but still going strong. When I bought it, it was slightly on sale at $98, which was very expensive to me as a student at the time, but I was also tired of bad hold structure and the cost of replacing $20-$40 backpacks every 2 yrs. My Timbuk2 bag works great as a school bag, but doesn't have the suitcase-like opening of the Cotopaxi.
Mine (authentic) also has a smell inside! I don't know what's going on because none of my other products have the smell of the kislux bag. Called LV and they said it is normal and I can wipe the inside with a damp cloth. I thought the lining was suede but it's actually microfiber so I'm going to look for ways to remove the microfiber smell because the smell is keeping me from using it often.
My coworker asked to borrow my similar backpack for her 5 day holiday since it had a perfect compartment for her laptop. She just texted me to see if she'd left her charger at work.
For some reason the perfume never gets a second glance. My toiletries usually go in a zip lock (in the packing part of the video where I put a placeholder in there)
Wonderful ideas! My only objection is that black cardigan, which, forgive me, does not actually elevate anything. It looks a bit shapeless and saggy IMHO. Maybe a short cashmere cardigan, which would work over your pants and your dress? Love your special touch, dear Diana. Even though I am a dog person.
I did notice while editing that the cardigan didn't read as well as it did in person. In person, it is a wonderful slouchy sexy sweater. In this video it seemed a little baggy around the hips! (I am also a dog person. I guess I'm an animal person! )
@@valeriecoopet9897 You might have missed it because I just casually and quickly mentioned it during the packing part that I was using a placeholder for my toiletries.
@@LaerkeTv Yes. I totally agree and forgot to mention that. When i'm in an area like an escalator or waiting in line, I flip my bag around to the front and hold it like a pregnant belly!
My biggest tip is think about how you will handle hair care first. Is you need curling irons or hairdryers those things take up room! Pack around your bulkiest items first, don’t save those for last. Most capsule videos never take those things into consideration 😂
Yes! That's definitely something I didn't talk about because I don't bring those things on trips. If I can't borrow those items, I figure out a plan to air dry. But you're right, probably most people do want to hear about how to bring hairstyling items!
I never check my bag. It’s a duffel bag, which isn’t all the comfortable carry, but it contorts to fit under the seat in front of me so I never have to check it.
This is my kind of packing! Once you go carry-on, I think you're unlikely to return to a big clunky bag. The worst that might happen is you have to borrow or buy a sweater or other useful item that will make a great souvenir of your trip. Are you willing to share your Parisian scarf source? I believe you mentioned one shop where they sell them by weight, and I know you've gotten other scarf bargains there. I'd love to get addresses for your favorite places there. Merci beaucoup!
Regarding the backpack method, let’s say you’re staying at a hotel and you’re not going to be by any friends or family - So you can’t borrow anything. Can you show us the way to have two pairs of shoes. And I know if you’re staying with a friend of families you could borrow a blow dryer and even a hotel has a blow dryer but what if you have to have a flat iron. I’m just trying to find a way to do what you do but still bring my necessities. Another thing that we can do is stuff something in the pocket of the coat.
If I were going to bring two pairs of shoes, I would wear boots, and I would pack ballet flats because they're small. Maybe you can try one of those devices that is a blow dryer and a curling iron in one? You might have to save space for that by giving up a sweater or a blouse.
I do think those yoga pants would work on any size and they are from target, so they come in many sizes. Someone mentioned to me that other day that they thought that pants were coming in longer sizes these days, and I realized that I hadn't struggled with shorter jeans or pants in a long time. I haven't had to specifically seek out longer pants!
Re perfume - yes, take it with you. But PLEASE don’t wear it on the plane. I have asthma and allergies, and perfume is likely to cause an asthma attack or vomiting.
Yeup, I have mast cell issues, and it's vertigo and migraines for me. Honestly, I'll be on the verge anyway from everyone's laundry chemicals, but perfume typically puts it over the top.
@@ChristiePriem well, they are full of endocrine disruptors that mess with your bodies hormones and such, but I can't say exactly why or how they cause mast cell degranulation? Synthetic fragrances in general are enough to give me migraines and dizzy spells, but I start getting dizzy walking past houses doing laundry even if there is no fragrance. I know back before I knew anything about mast cells and before I had found herbs I could take to help I cut laundry detergent (had already cut out fabric softener when the dryer died months before) at the recommendation of a lady in a chat. She said she let the water do the work and it had helped her dizzy spells. I figured I would give it a try. I dropped from not being able to make dinner without laying down 3 times every single night, to 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off after the old detergent got out of my clothes. And as I recall they were less even on the weeks I still had them. It also greatly reduced mood swings I didn't even know I had as well as mood swings in my teenagers. Sideline bonus, our clothes stay cleaner after the old detergent got washed out of them and they get stains less. Since I started walking I have talked to 3 other people in the neighborhood that have similar symptoms around laundry chemicals, and only 1 of them has similar pre-existing conditions. The other 2 both likely also have mast cell issues based on symptoms and long C***D status though. I wish I could be of more help on the science of it, but I haven't found any good sources explaining those exact oddities. If you have any questions about my health journey I'd be happy to tell you what I can though.
I would NEVER put my purse, keys and phone in the front pocket. It's way too easy for people to steal things from that compartment when you've got it on your back. The wet compartment is handy if you're washing clothes while away and they're not quite dry yet and don't want to mix them with your dry clothes. It can also be useful for dirty clothes to keep them separate.
I definitely forgot to mention that when I'm in a situation like standing on an escalator or in a line, I flip my backpack around to the front. Legitimate concern!
Re perfume - yes, take it with you. But PLEASE don’t wear it on the plane. I have asthma and allergies, and perfume is likely to cause an asthma attack or vomiting.
@ oh that must be horrible! It’s bad enough having a migraine at home, but having one when stuck with a load of others in a small space must be appalling.

I didn't see a liquid pouch for a security check, which would include your perfume bottle?? Just saying 😂.
For some reason the perfume never gets a second glance. My toiletries usually go in a zip lock (in the packing part of the video where I put a placeholder in there)
I travel to Florida every February…I wear layers that can be worn separately there. Uber to the airport…no need for a winter coat.
I guess I'm an animal person! )
Hi, great info! The promo code didn't work for me on Amazon. :(
The promo code gets applied at the very last step before payment. Did you go to the end?
@@unblahyourself I did! Nothing was discounted automatically and when I go to "Enter a gift card, voucher or promotional code" your code doesn't work.
@@unblahyourselfIt didn't work for me, either, and I just copied and pasted the code so that I knew I wouldn't make a typo.
@@beaazu826it did work for me, but not for the all-white one ❤
@@edennis8578 that's so weird. It worked for others and myself. I'm sorry, I emailed them to ask what happened!
What about your liquids in a quart bag? Is that not necessary any more?
Still required.
@@valeriecoopet9897 You might have missed it because I just casually and quickly mentioned it during the packing part that I was using a placeholder for my toiletries.
@ ah! I didn’t know what a placeholder was, I guess.
The only thing that is wrong with the front pocket, is that it is easy to access for thieves. Wallet and passport should be kept very close on front❤
Tell me more about the face mask
Hi Linda! I talk about it here around the 2 minute mark. ua-cam.com/video/9Ziu16xKihc/v-deo.htmlsi=jxlHSamFIHsfG-BI
Hi! This is the address! 23 Rue du Faubourg du Temple, 75010 Paris, France
I need to go back to get more favorite places! Don't twist my arm!😍
@@unblahyourself Merci beaucoup!
@@unblahyourself Paris is never a bad idea! Rome is always a great place to go too. Lots of wonderful fashion and a lovely pace of life there too.
You could stuff that pillow with your parka.
@@retireeontheroad4934 you just blew my mind!
Do you pack jammies, socks and undies?
Yes, I would have had space in my scarf/ led face mask bag. It was still loosely packed.
How do you go through Security with that perfume buried deep in that box. You need the one litre plastic bag for your liquids.
For some reason it's never a problem!
Save your old underpants for when you travel. Throw them away after wearing.
Instead of buying an extra neck pillow, I just bring two different shapes of pillow cases, and stuff the puffer coat in them.
Do you recommend the silky drawstring black pants even for a fat girl? And you're tall, where are you finding taller pants?
@@GoingGreenMom Yes, why do laundry chemicals have to smell so absolutely terrible???? 😢
@GoingGreenMom No, I just meant that I agree that they are terrible and I am irritated that they are offensive.
@@ChristiePriem rofl, I really went way off in left field. Sorry! 🤣
Never without my LED mask as well and korean hydrating mist!! Great ideas overall Merci

Migraines for me.
@ oh that must be horrible! It’s bad enough having a migraine at home, but having one when stuck with a load of others in a small space must be appalling.
@marylhere me too! Migraines and vomiting at the same time. Can't even walk past a perfume shop without having one.
