You choose pieces for your wardrobe better than 90% of influencers. You strike a perfect balance of modesty, luxury, personality. I hope you are recognized for that.
I find this much more helpful than most minimalist capsule wardrobes. I live in the U.K. and it can be freezing cold, with ice blizzards, or boiling hot. The weather can change really quickly and there’s lots of everything! A wardrobe with a variety of pieces is vital, as are warm layers as well as thin summery clothes. Most capsule wardrobe videos don’t acknowledge the seasons, nor discuss washing and caring for the clothes. 33 pieces is fine if you have perfect drying weather or use a tumble dryer all the time, but for most of us it isn’t practical. This was beautiful, and thank you.
OMG the “my weight fluctuates so much and it’s hard to find bottoms” resonates so much with me. No one emphasizes that enough. Do you have a video on how you juggle that?
@ I just had 2 babies back to back and it always always so bad for me weight wise (usually a 10 lbs variance) and postpartum it’s so much harder to dress for my new body until I lose the weight (hopefully)! Love your content, thanks so much for responding. Hope you’ll consider a video on the topic!
Hi Sophie! Living near Paris and being a working from home mom of 2 young children, I really enjoyed this video. Your capsule wardrobe seems to fit your Portuguese life perfectly and the outfits you put together look great. You are so inspiring, your content is my favorite to watch! Have an amazing week-end Sophie! Xx
I agree with you. Everyone has different capsule wardrobe. As a person who has changed many countries, I can confirm that everything depends on the climate, personal preferences, job, city/rural area etc. I wish you all the best and Happy Christmas 🎄
I live in Hawaii and am getting ready to travel. I always feel so overwhelmed and unsure about what to pack and how to pack light. Thank you so much for sharing your winter capsule wardrobe. Every piece is so beautiful, classy, and functional!
I love your wardrobe - and thank you for the blog post with all the links! I also really appreciate your approach. I too want a small manageable wardrobe but I don’t want to enter a challenge to have as few items as possible- that doesn’t make me happy and eventually I buy it back. Having a small wardrobe of lovely things and wearing my best even at home like you do appeals to me. I don’t go out much but I like having a couple of lovely things for when I do. I’m considering buying a winter dress similar to yours but it will sit on my wish list a bit longer.
I must have seen hundreds of capsule wardrobe videos...this is the first one that I found really applicabile and useful..and the first I felt like commenting. I'm from a mountainous area in Italy and it gets pretty humid cold. I work from home and I decided to let go of my "ideal self" wardrobe and stick to warm, comfortable, cozy pieces for winter. Fluffy and cozy knits, straight and flared leggings in feminine colors and the essential base layers! I find jeans uncomfortable and wear exclusively skirts in the summer ❤ we can accept having two different "styles" for summer and winter, nothing wrong with that 😊
I love dresses, but I hate tights, so they get worn only in the summer as the winters in UK are humid and cold. the rest of the time its jeans, cashmere or loose summery trousers. I work from home too and investing in cashmere joggers was a great decision. :D
I’ve been waiting for this kind of video because often times I find that winter casual wardrobe videos are done by people who primarily live in warmer climates where tshirts are still acceptable, and it’s hard for us in freezing climates to feel cute and warm! Thanks for this!
You are so stylish. I live in tropical Darwin and haven’t lived in a winter climate for a few years. So I am like your previous Hawaii incarnation. Love this ❤
Love this vid ❤. Im no minimalist but trying not to buy new clothes now & shopping my closet more often & recreating new pieces from it as well as being more intentional now. 🙏🥰🌍
I love that this idea, I am looking to simplify my wardrobe in 2025 and as someone who just started her style journey last year, I am glad that I have a better sense of what works for me and what my style is. This video gave me some ideas on how to simplify my winter outfits. Thank you for sharing. Happy Holiday's.
It is so wonderful to see you again! And what a beautiful wardrobe, you have curated! It suits you all so very well. The colors, silhouettes all suit you so beautifully. I just went through my wardrobe last night and did a massive declutter. I was finding that I was only wearing pajama sets and workout clothes because I was simply overwhelmed by how much I have accumulated. There is so much relief now and a lightness that I was longing to find since doing this. My weight also fluctuates, especially since becoming a mother of three. I finally needed to let go of some pants that are 3 to 4 sizes smaller than where I am now. I kept those that are one to two sizes smaller because I do anticipate losing more baby weight! I do hope that others can find and enjoy the pieces I have Decluttered and make them part of a cherished collection.
I don't live in cold weather, but even when your videos aren't fully relevant to me, I enjoy watching! The images, music, editing, etc of your videos are always so beautiful.
Wow, you have many more wool sweaters than me, and I live in Scandinavia 😂 I only have 3 cardigans, some cotton sweatshirts and some thinner blouses in wool, cotton and bamboo. I just find cardigans so practical and easy to put on and take off. I imagine the difference that is we have very warm houses compared to southern Europe. But I then have 2 VERY warm winter coats; one vintage lamb fur, and another in down, it's light as a feather, wind and rain proof, with hoodie and goes all the way to my ancles ( a true dream!). ❤
Love the video Sophie, winter here in Syracuse NY, I tend to to keep it super simple if I'm not in scrubs or spandex I like my college sweater and cardigans alot ☺️ I'm cuban American so lots of sun, but I'm used to the cold
I just moved from a tropical climate to a notoriously snowy one and this is very helpful! Since I’m in my fertile years, I stick to dresses, skirts and overalls so that I don’t need to have different sets of clothes for different body shapes.
You always give me inspiration. I’ve tried on my clothes and re mixed and matched. Being more stylish with what I already have and building on that with items I will wear over and over. Now I’m going to look at accessories that I already have. ❤
🇧🇷Seus vídeos transmitem uma enorme paz, adoro assistir quando preciso me reconectar com o minimalismo e com uma vida mais simples. Adoro seu trabalho, abraço!
Hi Sophie, great video! I enjoy winter and the cold weather. My three essentials - a quality coat, comfortable yet stylish boots, and a warm hat. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a peaceful holiday season in Portugal.
I get your struggle. As a european also from a mediterranean country I know all about long sleeves and how to layer, mix and match warm clothes but when I moved to vietnam for a year in 2022 I struggled choosing appropriate clothes to be culturally acceptable yet appropriate for the humid tropical climate. The struggle is real!
@MalamaLife exactly! In one part of the world it may be an effortless task while somewhere else a real challenge. Yes, vietnam was incredible! Merry Christmas Sophie!
This is very helpful. I recently changed jobs. Before, I had to wear kind of a uniform. In private, I dressed more casualy, but didn‘t need a lot of clothes. Now, I have to interact more with people, but also in a more creative environment. My warsrobe definitely needed some adjustments to suit that new job where I can wear my on clothes. I had to buy in a hurry for cold season, so I made some not so good choices. Your guide would have helped me two months ago 🤗 I will use it for next time
Layering is keyyyy and you absolutely nail it despite you're from a warm climate :) Your winter version is just gorgeous ☺ I also admire how you layer lighter jackets under warmer jackets. Where I live, we have all four seasons, but I've never worn a wool coat in the winter. Coats are for fall/spring, while in winter it's either a long puffer jacket or fur. But now I am wondering whether one of my lighter jackets would fit under a coat to have more opportunities to wear it than just in-between 😇 It's a pity this wouldn't work with the shoes - we have knee-high leather shoes lined with wool or fur for winter, while in the fall you can wear shorter boots with no lining. Again, where I live, the houses have central heating so you could wear pretty much the same clothes all year round. The problem is when the winter comes, it's always the same outerwear on top of everything 😃 I love playing with textures so I have a short faux-fur, a knee-length puffer coat and a warm sheepskin coat for the coldest days. Also hats, scarves and mittens lined with fleece ❤🔥
Snow boots, rain boots and gloves. We live at an elevation that snows. Our summer weather is very hot, sometimes over 100 degrees. With short spring and fall. It can be very challenging at times. When in doubt layer. California has all climates. Wishing you and yours a very happy and healthy holiday season.
I love all the layers 5! 😂 welcome to European winters. I have an addiction to coats and jackets. As these are what are seen most during winter - 12 plus 6 lighter jackets.🤦🏻♀️ I like to use them as my outfit, because underneath, my clothes are basics mainly.
Have A Magical Holidays Sophie and whenever you posts a new video it's makes my day instantly♥️♥️🥹🥹 and I am so so so glad that I've Found your UA-cam Channel
It's a great capsule wardrobe you have there. Everything I would also recommend- I grew up in NYC and our winter layring up is the same. Of course, Portugal is not as cold, so you don't need snow boots, or really heavy coats. I respect the neutrals- but what about some cranberry, or juniper? Maybe pumpkin orange or deep wines.
Pretty looks! Questions: 1) what do you wear to keep your head warm? Looked like you were wearing earmuffs in a clip. Beanies are my go to, as I would otherwise get headaches from the cold, but i think i can look more stylish without them. 2) what layers do you have for the long skirt?
My teenager son wears t-shirts and shorts all year long, from the 90’s F to the 30’s F! He may wear a hoodie on top if it is really cold. I wish I needed so few items in my life!
I think your skirt is really cute!! I love long skirts like that. You have a nice style. I like it. Oh man, I was only a 24 inch waist until I had kids. Granted I am probably way taller than you (5'9"). Then I was a 26-27 inch waist. Now that I had a kid at 39 and am 41, I don't even know what my waist is but I'll get it back to where it was.
I live in the cold climate. My go-to in late autumn and winter are sweater dresses with wool tights. So fast to put on and you look put together. As for pants, I don't wear jeans in winter. I find them just uncomfortable to put on upon thermals, and also I don't want to ruin their hems in all that snow and dirt outside. So my choice are warm leggings and joggers or knitted skirt as bottom. Sometimes I also use culotte pants.
I know how cold it can be in Lisbon, i use to live there. I am now in Spain near javea. Also humid in winter and iam wearing jumpers a lot. 😅 This winter so far ive been pretty warm, i am 38 weeks pregnant now and that helps 😂 Much love
I loved this video so much❤ i really Need to make my Winter capsule wardrobe After two pregnancies. My size has changed, my body is different and i don't like my old clothes. Can you make the same video for spring to come?❤ I would love It too. Hugs from Italy
If you don't use them already, I can highly recommend using insulating thermal insoles with aluminium. It has been a total gamechanger to feel warm in the winter :) ☃❄🌨
Hi Sophie your colour choice is very good here in the uk it’s all about trying to keep warm for me I feel very limited to what I can wear well done on your weight loss you look amazing happy holidays and best wishes for 2025 thank you for your video 🌻
I am an Autumn girl as well, so I love your wardrobe. Especially the jumper you got for your birthday. One question, have you found a boutique to sell your Essentials book in Lisbon? My mother-in-law is going at the beginning of January and I would really like to buy it. If not, are you going to also make it available to buy later on in Europe? As you are now in Europe. Hope so! Lots of love 🙏🏻🩷
Aww thank you so much! And yes I have a box shipping to Europe for my community here :) I'll post more about it after the new year. Thanks for taking an interest ❤️ happy holidays
I’m so inspired by the silhouettes of your outfits. Thanks so much for sharing. Would you mind sharing where to find your long gray wool coat? I’m on the market for one.
Hi there, love the winter wardrobe advice! I never really mastered layering, so this was very helpful. Do you mind sharing where your patterned statement piece light jacket is from and the scarf? Thank you so much!
Great & nice vid as always, Sophie!!! And btw, como você vai com a suas aulas e lições de portugûes?? Fico muito curioso com isso, kkkk... Greetings & the best wishes from Chile, same climate & weather like Lisbon, but in southern hemisphere, hoter & also time for summer clothes and outfits. Merry Christmas and happy New Year as well in advance.
What are your 3 winter wardrobe essentials? 🧣🧤🧦
Merino wool base layers, wool jumper mid layer, and a hardshell 🇨🇦
Please more seasonal capsule wardrobe videos!
Chunky wool jumpers, warm boots and a thick waterproof coat.
I’d be lost without my beanies!
Def heat tech! Love how lightweight yes warm they are :)
fun tip: buy seasonal essentials after the SEASON! on clearance

yes! i would be so interested in how to manage this with minimalism.
Stretchy pants
Meeee 🫠 I have multiple of the same jeans just in different sizes because my weight fluctuates ALOT throughout the year.
Love a Malama life capsule wardrobe video. You're style is so simple yet classy and I love it.

I love winter! We moved to a snowy climate on purpose 15 years ago. Winter fashion is my favorite!
I miss the snow! 😍❤️
I need a Wife like her, her understanding and way of life is just amazing, it feels like flowing with the river, her husband is so lucky 😊
you need to be like her husband too to find a wife like her

Thank you so much Sophie for sharing this beautiful journal I so enjoy your videos and your beautiful music and wisdom:)

Wow, this is literally perfect.
I live in middle Europe and since I walk a lot my go to is long coat and layering. I also prefer wool socks over any other🧦💖
We missed you Sophieb💓, so glad to have you back !! Also you looke GORGEOUS in your winter wardrobe 😍

Happy Holidays to you and yours Sophie. I love your wardrobe, especially the scarf, printed jacket and skirt. Great taste ❤
Thanks William ❤️ happy holidays
I love these kind of capsule wardrobe videos made by you :) almost like ASMR but for clothes. Could you do one for spring?
I love your style! I like the same color scheme…like you said, can mix and match all the pieces

We dnt have a winter season here in the Philippines but I enjoyed this, love wardrobe they’re so practical yet still aesthetic and trendy for me
Thanks for watching :)
I can't get enough of your videos ❤
Awww ❤️😍
What a beautiful wardrobe! Well done!!
Thank you so much ❤️❤️
I have been living in a country with four seasons all my life and your winter wardrobe is already so much better than mine 😊😉
Absolutely loved it ❤
Yay! Thank you
It's a great capsule wardrobe you have there.
Questions:
1) what do you wear to keep your head warm? Looked like you were wearing earmuffs in a clip. Beanies are my go to, as I would otherwise get headaches from the cold, but i think i can look more stylish without them.
2) what layers do you have for the long skirt?
I just love u and ur videos so much...plz keep making them ...also u r so pretty
Love your video. Your hair is so beautiful and healthy.
Thank you so much ❤️❤️
Nice sense of fashion. I like it. You inspire me. I'm a pants- girl, too!
Thank you ❤️😍
I absolutely love your wardrobe!
Aw thank you!! ❤️
I love all of the pieces - the colours are also great! Btw I love you hair. Could you please show us your hair care routine? 😊
Its perfect! Love the grey coat
Thank you! It's so warm :) happy holidays
What beautiful pieces, loved this style ❤❤❤❤ Happy Holidays to you & yours 🎄
Happy holidays!!
Beautiful sharing ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My teenager son wears t-shirts and shorts all year long, from the 90’s F to the 30’s F! He may wear a hoodie on top if it is really cold. I wish I needed so few items in my life!
I love the holiday season so much 🎄 merry Christmas everyone!!
❤️😍❤️😍
Such a good video 🌟
Many thanks Xx
❤️😍
Such great ideas to swap jeans in the winter!❄️
Really like your style ❤❤❤
I know how cold it can be in Lisbon, i use to live there. I am now in Spain near javea. Also humid in winter and iam wearing jumpers a lot. 😅
This winter so far ive been pretty warm, i am 38 weeks pregnant now and that helps 😂
Much love
People don't believe me when I say that lisbon is cold in the winters 🤭 glad you know! Happy holidays
As cold as it gets 😅nothing like winter in Canada. Oh how I miss Portugal 🇵🇹
Oh I'm sure 🫣❤️ stay cozy and warm!

Was interesting to watch 🙂. Would be curious to see also what you wear at home.
I loved this video so much❤ i really Need to make my Winter capsule wardrobe After two pregnancies. My size has changed, my body is different and i don't like my old clothes.
Can you make the same video for spring to come?❤ I would love It too. Hugs from Italy

@@MalamaLife Great news! 💖🙏🏻
I’m so inspired by the silhouettes of your outfits. Thanks so much for sharing. Would you mind sharing where to find your long gray wool coat? I’m on the market for one.
Thank you so much. I put the links in the description. The grey coat is from 2 years ago and I can't find the link but the brand is hossintropia
