  • How to shorten your new Citizen watch band (non pin style). I am shortening the band on my new Citizen Men's BF0580-57L Silver-Tone Stainless Steel Watch.
Here is the watch on amazon: www.amazon.com/Citizen-BF0580-...

I am not a strong dude. At first I sat at my desk in front of my computer to remove the links on my husband's new watch but couldn't do it--and I am not a person who gives up. So I placed everything in a tray, used a large metal paper clip and I stood up over it. Standing gave me leverage and more strength. My tip is to dig that nail or paper clip behind the tiny screw/bolt and wiggle it a bit then shove it under and PUSH! If it doesn't work the first and second time, keep at it. Wiggle and push and in time even the tightest pins come out. It took me much longer than it took Jeremy but the watch now fits my husband's wrist perfectly. THANK YOU JEREMY!

Does the watch have a sapphire crystal? My goodness, the tile to watch contact triggers my OCD.

It doesn't. It's mineral. I love Citizens and have many that have been around a while and none have a scratch on the face! I wouldnt even think about buying a mineral crystal watch.

OH! You are SO going to save me! I've changed the band before, my Seiko. But it was much easier. This style band, the pins are subtly hidden. You are making it look doable now. I haven't tried yet, but I'm excited by how nicely you presented this, and right away I saw how you got to the pin to expose it! Excellent job.
OK, now I've tried it. Got the pin out to open the band, but can not budge the link pins. Tried this small nail and a push pin. No luck yet.

Got given my late Dads H500, and I have a smaller wrist. This video has saved me sending it to the shops to replace. His was a little gunned up from wear and tear, so this will be a little harder on older watches with the same set up. But thank you so much!

Take a link out of each side so the watch sits on your wrist evenly. As you can see @ 3:58 it sits unevenly with two links from the same side.

Thank you from 2022. I was given a watch for my birthday but it was too big. I hadn't adjusted a band like this before and didn't even know where to start. The first pin was a bit tough and I needed the pliers to get it out but after that no dramas. Much appreciated!

I adjust my own watches, but I've never had to adjust a watch with these links. I just recently purchased my dad a Citizen watch (with these links). After watching this video, I took me less than 3 minutes to remove the links, thanks!

This is a great video. I successfully adjusted the wrist band. The first pin gave me trouble, but after I concentrated on using the hole in the pin instead of pushing down on the button, it went quickly. I also used lineman's pliers to remove the pin after I got 1/4 inch out.

Many thanks from down under. My model has a simplified set up again, in the fact only a one sided L shaped pin with dimple. So after a lot of wrangling, found that had to manoeuvre link off a bottom fixed tab to facilitate removal of same. Then in my case two links either side .

Thanks for the video. Never having removed pins from bracelet links, I would have never tried this without seeing your video first. Couple things: 1) this is a real PITA; not easy 2) seems there *MUST* be a better tool for this (although I did use the hammer & nail tactic) - - DOES ANYONE HAVE A TOOL RECOMMENDATION? 3) after a couple gentle taps on the nail with a hammer, I used an ice pick to gentley push/pry the pin out and then used pliers to gentle disengage the pin. Band now fits great. Really would like to know if a tool exists for this, or is the hammer+nail/icepick the way to go.

IT'S NOT THAT EASY!!!! Ok, with the help of this video I got the job done, and I would not have been able to do it without this video, so thanks for the good instructional video. HOWEVER...It's not as easy as this guy makes it look. Possibly because by the time this guy works on this watch several times the links are looser and easier to work. Mine was tight and I had to use way more pressure than expected, and than shown here, to pop out that pin. It's easy enough to get back in.

  • @joeflorenzano4529

Why would you remove 2 links from just 1 side instead of 1 from each side to make the face of the watch sit evenly in your wrist?

  • @ivanfreely6366
    @ivanfreely6366 Рік тому

FYI. Make sure you have a soft working surface. Dragging your watch with the crystal side facing on a hard surface such as what's shown would scratch the crystal. It's one thing when dealing with a cheap beater watch and it's another when working on an expensive watch like an Omega.

    • @jeremyfassler2320

Potentially. It depends how many links you need to remove. If you are removing more than a couple you may want to remove one from each side. Check the current centering of your clasp before you remove. Process is the same for both sides.
