- Dead Rising 2 has managed to evolve from a worse Off the Record to its own unique run that is quite fun, the reason why is because we had to adapt in order to overcome the games rough skateboarding and mean gameplay loop.
Outside of skilled playing Dead Rising 2 is an interesting run because
Ghost Boarding which allows us to skate THROUGH zombies
More skilled boarding in general since we have weaker boards
Quickstep routing so we run really fast in the late game
Tight boss fights since the games combat is lethal if we make a mistake
Plus if that was not enough for you we use a spitball gun to destroy a helicopter.

I think you explained the speedrun pretty well, did a great job. I actually didn't know about the hitbox thing with when Chuck pushes the skateboard, very good thing to know. Also, that Boykin fight was really nice :)
Glad you liked it! I'm surprised you didn't know the Hitbox thing considering your boarding is damn good in general. Boykin has been getting better but I've been enjoying finishing him off with the Assault Rifle since you don't have to walk over after

Love watching these explained speedruns thanks for making them 😀. Would just like to ask about what you meant by pulsing the weapons on case 3-2?
Don't hold down the fire button when shooting, you want shorter bursts of maybe 3 or so on heads. I usually press it similar to a pulse

I notice you're using wine+beer to make quick step. You should also be able to use wine+wine to create quick step. I feel like that could save you a small amount of time during your quickstep creation in Yucatan Casino. Then again, you may have a reason for using beer instead. It's always great watching your Dead Rising speedruns!
I actually was watching another runner do this today! Beer and Wine is good because you can make more at once but it could go either way
what r the odds, i literally just beat dr2 today and was thinking how I wanted to watch u speed run it after I finished then I see this , legit beat it like 30 mins ago

hey ec i was wondering about possibly routing in a guaranteed 10,000 pp from the giant craps game in the royal flush plaza. if i remember correctly if you pick up one of the dice and aim directly at the ground its guaranteed to roll a 7 which would give you half a level up and depending on when it is routed in, if it's early enough, it could ensure that youre able to get that 20% chance of a stock increase. now it would be at a trade for some time loss so i dont know how beneficial the 5th stock early into the run can be but i figured id at least ask about it here and see what you thought. (also i love your content and keep up the amazing work!)
So in general more PP is nice for safety but not speed if that makes sense? Grabbing Denyce gives 5k and you need a total of 20k PP to level up. While you would have an extra board it's one of those things where:
1. You may not get stock meaning it's slower
2. If you break less boards you'll be faster as a whole
Personally for a safer strat I'd recommend using Ghost Boarding more frequently since you CAN use it with any pushable object

One thing I never understood for the canon ending of DR2...why didnt Stacy have anything with her to defend herself and Katey with in case of zombies? I know she was holding the sleeping Katey while going to the chopper, but Chuck getting overwhelmed proves there were still a lot of zombies around the area, and its not like she couldnt have stached a pistol in her pocket (unless the pockets on womens jeans really are useless) to atleast pistol whip a zombie if it gets too close. Or what about the pilot? Shouldnt he at the very least been given a gun to defend himself with? Even if he couldnt have gotten up to save Chuck, he could have atleast been like "hey lady, Chuck seems to be in trouble, here is my gun so you can save him"
Long story short, in a game where Chuck can have an entire arsenal of combo weapons and half a restaurant stuffed in his underwear, Stacy didnt bring a simple pistol. Really flat thinking there Stacy
In game answer: she’s a zombie protestor and likely would have reservations on killing zombies in general, the pilot is for a news chopper

If you listen closely, it appears that Chuck has a bit of an American midwestern accent.
So you can’t Unhear it, but it’s Canadian since Capcom Vancouver used a LOT of Canadian VAs
@@Ecdycis Oh I didn't know that. But the American midwestern accent does sound very similar to the Canadian accent. So it's possible that Chuck is either from Canada or grew up in states like Minnesota or Wisconsin.

A lot of communities use load removers or only count gametime. In Dead Rising 1 the community timer does not run during cutscenes, in DR2 it does.
