Parasite Eve is a game I have been meaning to do for one of these for a LONG time. With the changes to the weapon route I figured this was the perfect time. As a Christmas present from me to you enjoy what is one of my longest Speedruns Explained videos to date!
RNG fights, full offense upgrades, and bold RPG leveling strategies make for an interesting horror speedrun!

The plot is that your sister was infected to become the next Eve (or just had really evolved mitochondria), and when her and Aya got into the car wreck with their mother, they couldn't save your sister (or your mother), but she was an organ donor. Aya got her sister's cornea implanted in her right eye since Aya was born with a defective one, which infected her with mitochondrian powers, and Melissa got one of your sister's kidneys.
The rest is history. Love the content!
While I haven't played Parasite Eve, I have read the novel the game is VERY loosely (like PE in name only) based on. Both have something to do with a dead family member, mitochondria and a kidney transplant. I have watched some gameplay and I believe the Japanese scientist in this game mentions the events of the novel, but only mentions something similar happening in Japan iirc.

I have a copy of the novel and have read it. Despite having the novel for more than six years at this point, I haven't finished reading it (I stopped halfway and intended to read more but forgot). From what I remember the book takes a little long to get places, but that could be just me. As I mentioned in another comment, there are some similarities between the novel and the game plot-wise. While according to amazon a physical print isn't available anymore, an e-book/kindle version is available.
Yeeeah man! Loved the video, I hope there is a new Parasite eve coming soon, or a least a remake, this game deserves it.

speaking of music (11:10) one of the best in the game, solo piano main theme.
One time I'd taken the playstation but not the memory card, so I sat down and played parasite eve, no saves. I still remember the best run, got right to the end... turned wrong in the escape.
I get what your saying, dividing up the damage with 5x so you can do just slightly more damage then needed to kill foes, rather then massively overkill... I'd still go with 2x in a casual run for ammo conservation. Less ammo requirements, less time stopping to pick up ammo. It's all about getting through fights in the lowest number of turns possible. But if you can do each turn in less shots... it's a tricky optomisation.

2nd time watching this in the past few months since I've been helping my best friend play for the first time (Till she lost data mid Chrysler Building, to which i played and finished it for her last night).
Was curious, @ 28:30, you meant the creator hating Square because of PE2. Is there a source for this? Was talking with my friend but through google I wasn't able to find anything to confirm that. No statement/interview, nothing.
I got it from EyesonBee who is knowledgeable all things PE in the community, I definitely know the license was pulled

@@Ecdycis yea especially since some Rpgs could use range as like the crit range increase instead of actual range lol
You buy it on ps3, hook your psvita or psp up to the ps3 via USB and you can transfer it from the console to the handheld 👍

i wonder why they include unskippable cutscenes in the run time? just seems kind of strange
Probably because it's a story RPG they weren't expecting people to breeze through

This game would be a 10/10 if you could skip cutscenes and dialogue. Unfortunately you can’t so it gets a 2/10.
Still a classic game, you wouldn't be skipping them on first play

@@Ecdycis hey man! I saw your parasite eve run and didn't know there was a whole community for it. I was able to follow your explanations very well while working! (I beat it 7 times before i knew i k ew the true ending was even a thing!) Also....never stop those jokes!🔥🔥
It's a fun game and the community is still actively working on getting the game pushed down!
