Gone 18years today, and it is still as wrong now as it was then.I never met you but I cared about you as if I knew you. Thanks for all you gave me,gave all of us who love your music. We will never forget you.
Stewart Adamson was a troubelled soul but from that soul came some of the most outstanding moments ever put on vynil..ive seen big country a few times live and everytime they delivered a blistering show in that style of we don't think we are as good as we obviously are, Richard Hobson once said of him... He will show you some of the most complicated guitar playing, does not matter if you didn't get it the first time coz he would keep showing you until you did 😜 that was the type of person he was...generouse to a fault ❤ when i listen to some of the skids early stuff now you can hear starts guitar riffs all the way through them 🍀♠️🍻🍺👀😜 rip SA ❤❤❤❤
He was a Poet of our times BUT he never really knew it , how we loved him , his words would melt any heart , he spoke to us in the same way that Leonard Cohen did , we miss you and we shall never forget you. Shine on you crazy diamond.
I was 19 when this album came out. I used to listen to 'Chance' over and over again. I was going through a very painful time in my life and Stuart Adamson's haunting vocals to this beautiful song somehow made me feel that I was not alone and that things would eventually improve. There is something about the way Stuart actually 'feels' the pain in this song that makes me wonder......what was it that made you feel so low Stuart? I can only thank you for being here for a short while and giving so much solace and pleasure with your music. I am not going to judge you for taking your own life, because we ALL have our demons, and only someone who has been so 'low' that they actually do not want to live any more can understand what made you do what you did. God Bless mate, from London
I have been listening to big country most of the week 😜😎🍺🎭👻 in my head they are still present (well to me) in these strangest of times ⛑️ their musis especially the lyrics are as relevant now over 40 years as they were all those years ago ❤ it is moments like this when my mind is on someone who is not in my life anymore that I actually hope there is a heaven or at least some kind of afterlife for them to go to 😎 chance along with a few other songs ive kept with me over the years still makes me happy, sad and a thousand other emotions I never knew about 😢 f-ck me I'm rambling now 🍺🍺🥂🍻 remember kids day drinking is not big and it's not clever but it sure is f-cking good 😂 boomshenka 🎉
Somewhere in the 80's I was in Arnhem singing the chorus of this song among a few hundred other lucky people, and then they came back for an encore ...
you think of all the acts that came out of the eighties like OMD, The Fixx, Thompson Twins, and others....these guys right here were the Best, and why ? Because they actually could play. write songs, and their chemistry with their fans is clear. Best Band ever to see live.
I've never been able to listen to this one without crying & it only worsened after Stuarts passing. But somehow I keep coming back to it. I feel like it's where I lost my heart & I'm still trying to find it.
listen to that crowd! gives me shivers no phones just enjoying these absolutely heroic musicians. Stuart Adamson you aren't here in person but in our minds and hearts here forever !
Thanks a million Isabelle for putting all the stuff up. on fri the 16th I watched Big Country videos all day. It's great to know that there are still so many true fans out there who will never forget Stuart. I still have his autograph on a battered cassette sleeve of Steeltown. I met him before a gig here in Cork, Ireland and he was "sound" as we say in this part of the world: So down to earth, easy going and friendly. Grazie di nuovo della tua generosità.
Wow. Hard to believe he's on the other side of the veil. What a talented songwriter and musician. Much better and longer lasting that the only band that finished ahead of them, U2. The upper guys may have gotten more airplay at the time but who is listening to them as much as we are listening to Big Country. RIPower Stuart 'son of Adam.'
Always have loved this one! And this particular version was very emotional, it lends itself to an acoustic version perfectly! I loved the band back in the 80's, never did catch them live, unfortunately, could not believe the news that Stuart committed suicide, the guy had talent in spades....
A great talent and a voice for the underdog. You took the easy way out . While your kin battle on through and make the best of life. Sadly missed and so much more to give. We need his like in these days. Saw him at the Cambridge Corn Exchange in the late 80's sublime.Hope you found peace Stuart X
isabelle, thanks for all the great BC videos. I hope everyone that doesn't know their music will realize how amazing and brilliant Stuart and the band were back then. Missing you even more now Stuart, RIP
I have been listening to this band since The Crossing came out... when I was 12... I hope I still have a lot of years to go.. But when I do.. I hope the sounds of this Band is one of the last things I hear!
Went to see Big Country on Saturday at Newcastle were superb but one big miss was Stuart I don't think you realised what a talented genius you were Rip
Got here by err… chance. On a mix UA-cam did. I knew Big Country. Had the greatest hits when I was a teenager in the 90’s. Liked the sound and played on fairly heavy rotation even though it wasn’t very hip at the time. Cut to the late 90’s and living in desert of Tucson Arizona. In a Big Country got played all the time at the local 80’s club night and it seemed like a suitable anthem, but you totally can grow flowers in the desert. I hadn’t really thought of them as anything other than one hit wonders of the past with a killer tune, for years …till I saw this and now I am obsessed. What an amazing live band and Stuart Adamsons voice is way better than I had guessed from the records. Sad not to have been in that crowd.
2023 and still, for me, the most underrated band of all time.
Gone 18years today, and it is still as wrong now as it was then.I never met you but I cared about you as if I knew you. Thanks for all you gave me,gave all of us who love your music. We will never forget you.
There are no words for this. How The crowd interacted. Incredible. Did you see Stuart's face when the crowd started singing, Priceless.
As you say no words.

You can see in his face he loved that…god I miss this fella what a voice ❤️
Stuart looks so happy. What a sad loss....... A great musician.
Love it when Stuart winks and smiles then does a dance at the end! Makes you all emotional!
amazing....the crowd singing made me cry..
He was a Poet of our times BUT he never really knew it , how we loved him , his words would melt any heart , he spoke to us in the same way that Leonard Cohen did , we miss you and we shall never forget you. Shine on you crazy diamond.
We are called big Country and we are FROM all over the place....brilliant !
This makes me cry every time I hear it, and I'm not even Scottish...
This should be the national anthem of Scotland.

Went on the beer with them in Aintree race circuit in about 1985 , they were sponsoring Brian Morrison on a Kawasaki GPZ 900.
great... will never forget this song and how it made me feel back in 83..
Here we are in 2020 and we are still listening and loving your music, rest in peace Stuart , your music lives on as does your memory.....
And here we are in 2023 and still strongly listening to it. Great music never dies.

I can't imagine what it must have felt like with that crowd around them responding the way that they do near the end. What a crowd! Beautiful.

Somewhere in the 80's I was in Arnhem singing the chorus of this song among a few hundred other lucky people, and then they came back for an encore ...

@@zamoomaw True that!, I'd give a weeks pay or more to have been in that crowd!, WOW! truely Awsome!
...thought I wouldn't care for an acoustic version but I was wrong, this is really good
bootlegapples you should listen to the improvised solo one he did on a Dutch radio. You can find it on a UA-cam channel called “Porroh mon.”
listen to that crowd! gives me shivers no phones just enjoying these absolutely heroic musicians. Stuart Adamson you aren't here in person but in our minds and hearts here forever !
My thoughts completely.
Do you think it's canned enthusiasm taught by teachers
No 🤬

Today I went to A
