Too true. Mike is inspirational. I have been listening to The Alarm for nearly forty years and while it is always good, a lot of the time I take it for granted. Sometimes a song catches me and reminds me of how I felt at the time of its release. Now is one of those moments for which I am eternally grateful.
Happy 62nd Birthday Michael Leslie Peters 25/02/59 Prestatyn, Wales Your folksy / raspy voice is one of a kind. And so is The Alarm. Born same day as George Harrison too..
When bands of this ilk were in their prime they were ten years or so older than me. It seemed like a chasm in time but now I am 51 it is shocking to think of Mike Peters only three years away from being a pensioner. He is a hero and their music endures.
In the days before videos a TOTP appearance was everything. Not surprised they flew back from the states. I lost my shoe at their 1984 London gig...it was so packed. I had to come home by public transport with only one shoe 👞 !!!!
Graham Scoffield this has made me laugh Graham......and yes, an appearance on TOTP back in the day was like getting to the FA cup final and winning.....fantastic band.
Mike Peters insisted that he shared the mic with the other guys, he didn't want them to stay in the background. Nice gesture, nice man. I wish him a speedy recovery from his illness.
Hi Jeff. Mike Peters has been fighting cancer for quite a while now. Sadly his wife Jules has also been suffering from breast cancer -she plays keyboards in the band as you probably know. Best wishes. Stay safe. Joyce.
I remember watching the Alarm in Ryll in north wales. They were the most energetic different band of their time. The songs were all different and I thought to my self these guys are going to be great.
ALARM such great memories ot then remember The TUBE channel 4 UK always great 😂 .... Saw them first in 1985 supporting U2 on "Unforgettable Tour" @ Croke park Dublin Ireland hard to believe REM were 4th on bill that day 🤔 .... Saw Alarm a few years still great .... 68 Guns great song great times great memories 😎✌️👍.
When i was a teenager in the 80's , my friends and i was always using hair gel ( extra strong hold ) and after that , a lot of hairspray ( also extra strong hold ) , but when it was windy we used gelatin instead of hair gel , before we where using hair spray .The hair got so stiff that we couldn't rest our heads against backrests on sofas or anything , or even go to bed before it was brushed out , because the hair could crack . Lol . :-D
Absolute belter! I remember this coming on the radio at work and thinking 'fuckin hell, this is the bollocks!' Saw them a few times since then, great gigs, even though the Welsh made us unwelcome, but did we care? 👊👊👊👊👊🤣
Romans 10 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Declaration was one of the finest albums of the 80s, fantastic memories

Il have a listen to your 80s album tonight on the beach. 68 guns I can just remember being only 13yrs old at the time of 1983.
A friend put this on a mixtape for me at 14. You always sing this one to the back row.
These are the songs that hit your soul
Impassioned vocals and a great song! Newcastle city hall gig 1983. Top memories!
I was there, too! Amazing night!
Looks like the lead singer had stuck his finger in a leccy socket, bad head. 😂

From my home town Rhyl ! Saw them in passing in the Bistro . Happy days xxx

Met you in que for my plane today enjoy the skiing
I remember being a steward at Greenbelt in ‘87 and Mike Peters signed my leather jacket after the concert. Great times.
A legend seen him many times ....god bless
Mike Peters insisted that he shared the mic with the other guys, he didn't want them to stay in the background. Nice gesture, nice man. I wish him a speedy recovery from his illness.
What is wrong with Mike Peters please.#

At least ❤️
I went to see the alarm ,big country and u2 at hammersmith Palais 1983 fucking great times
Wow! Never knew they were all on the same bill. I always thought if you somehow merged Big Country & U2, you’d get The Alarm!
Ex girlfriend walked off with my tour t-shirt from that gig....I was more upset I lost that shirt than losing her.
I used to drink in The Laurie Arms next door in the mid 1990s.
The anthem of the time, bloody marvellous😎
Get Well Soon Mr Mike Peters, Legend, Keep Fighting Fella.❤
Great song great memories ❤
He isn't well again I hear .
Brilliant Mike. Ah yes I remember it well! Xx

Yes big country & the alarm supported u2 at hammersmith Palais in a end of the war tour added gig 1983 was awesome
Awesome indeed. Seen all 3 bands but certainly not on the same gig!
I remember watching the Alarm in Ryll in north wales. They were the most energetic different band of their time. The songs were all different and I thought to my self these guys are going to be great.
I love them and also thought they would be big, this along with the deceiver and where we're you hiding when the storm broke amazing
It’s September 22 , 2021. TOTP 38 years ago. I wonder if that guy dancing at 3:28 still has those moves?

Such A Good Song
Amazing live
dearly beloved
Would of loved to have them have a Brass section with this excellent performance on TOTP.
A fair amount of hairspray went into the making of this performance 😂
😂 yes.
Great song tho.
I always liked that song! 😏👍true about
True about the hairspray!
That's why we got Global Warming today....
Him saying "looks like we'll have a good evening then" makes me so happy.
Always thought they wanted to be the nxt Clash - brilliant band and underrated
They were a mod band called seventeen before they became the alarm 👍
Ironically in 1990 they kinda became the next U2, because U2 abandoned their own 80s sound and their record company liked it :)
Saw them open for Pat Benetar in 1988 and just saw them last July headline at the House of Blues in Chicago.
Forever young, I cannot say. HEY!
I saw them at the old Cardiff arms park ground supporting U2 arms in 1987
2:05 magic harmonica....plays itself
I saw that too!
as a teen i dont know who this is (my mum recommended me this song) but god the vibes are ✨immaculate✨
68 guns will never die!
love the hair ♡
Great band. Remind me of the clash for some reason.
Big country
Keep fighting mike🌟
I miss the 80’s😂😂
Long live Mike Peters

I not seem the bands reunited episode on vh1 with the alarm any good?
Just saw it recently yeah very good -hope to see them in Glasgow later this year once the lockdown is over
some of the audience know ..good
How many guns
Hellibeds!
Never more relevant than now in 2024 👍
This song is true 2021
I can well imagine it. I only wish that I had been there in 2021, when this was true.
The American audience never understood 68 Guns , they were hardly a thing in the USA.
Them TOTP titles were the best they ever made.
Absolute belter! I remember this coming on the radio at work and thinking 'fuckin hell, this is the bollocks!' Saw them a few times since then, great gigs, even though the Welsh made us unwelcome, but did we care? 👊👊👊👊👊🤣
Love the eighties music
Rember it 👊🤩🏴
Boom. Get in!
200M, actually.
Happy birthday Mike Peters!
Tune
Wow look at that hair lol
Why 68?
fckin 68 guns.
Supported Dave when he was playing solo at Prestwich, Manchester. He wasn't happy when we blown him off the stage and all our crowd left. X
well done im not surprised
THIS DUDE IS SICK !
This bloke looks perfectly healthy to me
My God look at that hair!
Saw them in Columbus, Ohio in the 80s. Their souped-up acoustic guitars were freakin loud and rockin!!!
All the best to mike .he is suffering from ill health again.
A1
GREAT SONG still reckon the lead singer is a doppelganger of HOWARD JONES ? 🤔
JESUS CHRIST, THIS IS A BATTLE CRY
Sounds like something off Sandanista
Rescue me.
there after you...ha..see you in valhalla
I know mike peters!
He's never heard of you. Bloke in the street he says
Fatty
never knew this was all done on acoustic guitars..lol wtf
They always looked ridiculous even when those clothes were fashionable but they made some great records.
Reminiscent of Green Day
Green Day is reminiscent of The Alarm.

It’s hard to describe how shit this song was at the time ffs
Never heard of the band or song. Wouldn't listen again sorry. Wander why VH1 classic wanted to reunite this band?
