Saw them at Wolverhampton Civic Hall in the early 2000's, it's a fairly compact venue and you are literally only a few metres from the stage. A brilliant venue for a group that tore the house down, Big Country were absolutely awesome that night.
I've listened to Big Country for years, my regret is that I never saw them live. I know 'Big Country' are still touring but without Stuart...not sure...
@@Mattyboy88979 i'm also really Jealous ,i'm 26 years old and a huge 80s Fan since 12 years . Very glad that i saw Hall /Oates , OMD , Nena etc before Corona
Big Country were brilliant.Stuart Adamson fab and it was a sad sad loss when we lost him. There music was and still is class.I am from the 80s so i was brought up with them.My favourite album is "The Crossing". I was so shocked when i heard Stuart had died.RIP Stuart. Big Country were unique and original in their own right.Great band.
I used to listen to this when I was wandering through our forest in fall, alone, longing for love and hoping for a little bit luck in life. Never thought these moments were the lucky ones.
My personal favorite band and one of the Greatest bands of all time didn’t get the recognition they deserved all them years ago RIP Stuart Adamson Simply A Legend Pride of Scotland
Best live version of this song that I have heard thus far, and one of my favorites (along with I Walk The Hill from the same album). What a great band!!
Stuart left our world far far too early ...... such a talent and if he was still here I just know he would still be knocking out orsm tunes ...... we lost something/someone very special ..I personally have him up there with the very best and I MEAN the VERY BEST ...love to you all 🙂
They supported Bowie at Roker park & were great then I got the chance to see them @ the Barra lands Glasgow we were totally blown away what a live band 💥💥💥💥💥
I also play this song at least once a week...but I live in a senior community and I am not allowed to play music as loud as I would like...LOVE MY BOSE HEADPHONES!!!!
Only if someone would've noticed in some of stuart's songs lyrics, he sounded depressed. Big Country are still brilliant, but will never be the same without Stuart. It's also really respectful that in every big country concert, they leave the space in the middle empty, where stuart used to stand, so they don't "replace" him.
Didn't begin appreciating Big Country until after Stuart passed. In US they faded after initial album, although the best was yet to come, and we were just unaware here. Radio and publicity were still critical in the 80's and 90's. Today we can stream our favorite artists' newest material in seconds.
SO cool. Do you ever see him. Tell him he;s got a fan in NY. I saw them at Hofstra University when they rolled in. Girl I took never called me back, jealous I was making more of a big deal over the band than I did over her...Lol :-)
On this day in 1986 {September 13th} Big Country performed "Look Away" on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... Eight weeks earlier the song peaked at #5 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart... Besides "Look Away", the Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland band had four other records on the Mainstream Rock Songs chart, "In A Big Country" {#5 in 1983}, "Wonderland" {#48 in 1984}, "King of Emotions " {#20 in 1988},and "The One I Love" {#34 in 1993}...
Great song. really gets me going.. Big Country are playing end of this month in multi. live concert in Bavaria. along with Europe and Level 42 ( 27 July 2024)
Just an awesome.song, especially performed live by one of the greatest bands in the 80s .. "'Big Country". ! Astounding, wish I was one of the lucky audience on that concert
This time we run, this time we hide This time we draw on all the fire we have inside We need some time to find a place Where I can wipe away the madness from your face Our name is out, our name is known Our name is everywhere but who knows where we've flown I never meant to kill a man But I will show you how to live like no one can So look away, look away Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold Look away, look away From the lies in the stories that were told Look away, look away From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul I met you wild in a snowed up town Where I was waiting tied and bound to be sent down Then I broke loose, you weren't around So I raised banks and trains until I tracked you down Now look away, look away Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold Look away, look away From the lies in the stories that were told Look away, look away From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul You followed me when I said no You lay with me when there was nowhere safe to go We made some friends but now it's done I always knew that we would never find the sun So look away, look away Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold Look away, look away From the lies in the stories that were told Look away, look away From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul So look away, look away Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold Look away, look away From the lies in the stories that were told Look away, look away From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul

I met the band in 1996 when I was working at a hotel in Plymouth Devon. They signed my copy of their greatest hits CD. Lovely guys. R.i.p. Stuart.
Best live version of this song that I have heard thus far, and one of my favorites (along with I Walk The Hill from the same album). What a great band!!

I’m 12,one of my favourite bands
No matter your age there's great music like this out there. You just have to find it.
Cool! My dad introduced me to Dire Straits when I was 12, opened me up to much music

Stuart Adamson born in Manchester where I'm from would have loved to have seen him live maybe in another life🤘😔
This time we run, this time we hide
This time we draw on all the fire we have inside
We need some time to find a place
Where I can wipe away the madness from your face
Our name is out, our name is known
Our name is everywhere but who knows where we've flown
I never meant to kill a man
But I will show you how to live like no one can
So look away, look away
Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold
Look away, look away
From the lies in the stories that were told
Look away, look away
From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul
I met you wild in a snowed up town
Where I was waiting tied and bound to be sent down
Then I broke loose, you weren't around
So I raised banks and trains until I tracked you down
Now look away, look away
Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold
Look away, look away
From the lies in the stories that were told
Look away, look away
From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul
You followed me when I said no
You lay with me when there was nowhere safe to go
We made some friends but now it's done
I always knew that we would never find the sun
So look away, look away
Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold
Look away, look away
From the lies in the stories that were told
Look away, look away
From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul
So look away, look away
Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold
Look away, look away
From the lies in the stories that were told
Look away, look away
From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul
God bless Big Country, loved em forever

Wow, grew up up with this!!!!
Absolutely brilliant band
Brilliant, takes me back 👌
I absolutely loved Big Country! Maybe its the Irish in me but they were great! Too bad Stuart is gone :-(
+David Meredith Thought they were scottish
+steven ashley They were 50% Scottish and 50% English
+David Mcque +steven ashley I think he is referring to the Gaelic sound to their songs which is shared between Ireland and Scotland.
Although born in Manchester, Stuart was 100% Scottish
Have seen BC loads live. Stuart and the guys are the very best. They should erect a statue to him in Dunfermiline. One of the greatest artists of all time
