Fear and loathing in Las Vegas is the reason why I took acid for the first time. The problem is, I eventually moved to a hippie community in the middle of nowhere and I took acid almost every day and now I regret it. I've never really been the same. Shit is still really weird to me and I don't have a good grip on reality anymore. If you're gonna try acid, don't do what I did and take it religiously, a couple times is enough. Anymore than that and you're not in Kansas anymore Toto.

Unlike many ppl (specifically the ones replying to this thread & dogging my man Dan out)- I didn’t do anything harder than weed, pain pills (my own, long story that doesn’t end well), & I drank a little bit in high school. It wasn’t until I was 19 & then stopped 2 yrs later doing acid. What sucks is that my final trip on acid (the bad one) was so scary that I never got to experience shrooms. In the right setting, even now in my late 30s, I might try them because ppl say it’s so different. So did you actually do acid like day after day after day? I only did it on weekends because it took me a while to get my grip back. This one summer my friends & I did it a lot! And of course there was that one person who would eat a 10 strip by themselves! To me, that’s nuts. Sure I had a full on conversation with a cat in my buddy’s bathroom & that shit was hilarious after someone realized “hey where’s Sheri?” & knocked on the door looking for me. I’m interested in your experience, like did you take a bunch every time? Did you ever trip alone? Not me!- too scary! I did often mix X with acid & that was my faaaaavorite!!! But like anything else, if id done it too often, it would’ve been super bad. You say that it changed you. How long ago was this?

She has never been the same it is really sad because she was a very very nice and cool person but now she looks like a homeless man and has broken into my house and beat the shit out of me (I didnt want to hit her so I basically just tried my best to block her) I'm sorry you aren't the same anymore it is very sad and I feel your pain obviously not exactly the same but I somewhat understand
Drugs are a tool for self-discovery. Know your body, know your mind, know your source, and only trip around people you trust in a safe place.
I love how he talks out of perspective while being on acid. The ''logic'' that you make as a person while tripping is really interesting.
Ben Smedes ... one time in college at a party I asked a friend to lock me in a closet and feed me cigarettes for a few hours. I had taken 7 hits of liquid acid. He did not oblige me... about 30 minutes later I watched the people on the dance floor turn into spartan warriors, dinosaurs and animals, I looked down at my own arm and watched it grow fur. even as a very experienced person I couldn't keep it together in public under those circumstances, I lost my shit and freaked out. At very high doses of hallucinogens what you experience can be so incredibly real that it really is your reality at that time.
Jay Crew I did some acid once. Did a lot of drops (don’t know how much exactly but it was waaay to much) and I ended up forgetting what humans were and even what life was. Acid can be really fun and inspiring but too much isn’t fun at all.
Split a 15 strip with a buddy once. An hour after peak he’s naked in the back of his moms blazer, that we pushed outta his driveway, saying “Mommy make it stop, mommy make it stop, MOM MAKE IT STOP!”...

this guy is my favorite comic. SO good, hope he starts to get more recognition for how great he is!
James M, he's also my favorite comic and I feel the same way, like he is underrated and really isn't getting the credit he's deserves. But roughly a over a year ago, he started a wildly entertaining podcast called Time Suck and I think he's starting to get more people appreciating him and finally more recognition.
With you being a big fan, I'd definitely recommend it and really think that you'd enjoy it. And if you did, end up listening to the Podcast, you'd become a, "Time Sucker," very quickly.

I did shrooms and went to the zoo. What I didn't know is that they had all glass enclosures. And I thought I was in a house with a bunch of wild animals in different rooms. Everything was fine until I saw the eye of Sauron in the fish pond 🤣🤣. Psychedelics are awesome.
Friend of mine had a living room that had huge windows that looked out into his backyard and we used to sit on this half round couch and get high. This guy never mowed his lawn in the backyard. It looked like a jungle back there. But when you do some acid, it became a real jungle back there. And there were things in the jungle.
Great story! I remember tripping with friends when I was in my late teens. We too, tried Enya. Sadly, it didn't soothe us like it did Dan. My buddy said, "Outya"...I'll never hear Enya the same again.

One thing I've learned from this series is that if you think you've gotten a bad batch of acid, you didn't.
Truth. If you think you've got a "bad hit" drink some orange juice and wait another half hour.
The morning after the trip is like a hangover x100 in terms of shame tho. Like remembering smelling tree's and hopping through grass while laughing at the stars at 1 AM while coming across people letting their dogs out and even the dogs get scared of you...

One time on four hits of acid riding shotgun in my buddy's car, he's also on four hits and I can't blink or we could crash because we had broken the sound barrier, really going 30 in a 55 water's pouring from my eyes and I look over and my buddy's having the same watering eye issue and I ask him, "hey man, can you see?"

I'm pro-psychedelics and this seems to be on the side of performance enhancing drugs lol. This cracks me up because it confuses people who haven't done it but it also surprises a lot of those who have done it
It was at the beginning of the trip if it was a high dose. During the first phase of a trip, there's heightened visual acuity as with the other senses...as well as heightened sense of empathy and social interactions. A 'microdose' would only take you to the first phase.

I love how relatable the really weird parts of this story are. completely forgot about the spatial awareness part of tripping where you follow someone too closely.

GlowSea :D completely agree about the shrooms being healing and sometimes more intense than acid. What’s funny is since I posted this, I took 1 of this new stuff (btw this is maybe a dozen times total in 15 years) and this latest shit was AMAZING. Also the live music I saw on it had amazing visuals (Tycho) so I think that visual stimuli carried over for the rest of the night. 👌

You would either die, or permanently become an orange. You would sit yourself in a fruit bowl until you died from lack of water. 29 hits isn't human. That's when you start digging at your own skin with your fingernails so your skeleton can bust out dancing, like in the cartoons.
I used to know a dude who would do 20 hits on the regular. He once even took 40 hits in a night. He just worked up to an absurd tolerance from doing it every day. He ended up going crazy, and accusing me and my friends of stealing his "cure" for cancer lol To make a long story short, he ended up od-ing on pain pills. Everything in moderation, my friends.

If you like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, you need to watch Where the Buffalo Roam. It was made way before Fear and Loathing. Bill Murray plays as Hunter. Great movies.
I've watched fear and loathing probably a 100 times by the time I was 18 (when it came out).....that movie made me into a gigantic drug enthusiast (even bigger than I already was by then).

That is so true that you might not ever come back. My brother told me about one of his instructors from job corps who was a former marine disappeared into the woods on a bad trip, never to be heard from again. I just imagine him on the constant hunt, sneaking, binging, hibernating, repeating.
