Squid fishing has to be one of my favourite forms of fishing. In this episode I tried something I don't usually do, especially on a kayak.

hey mate, what cheap rod and reel would you recommend for an ultralight setup?

All ways while squid fishing we have a sleeper rod with a float it wont get as many squid as one being jigged but it defently picks up a few extra.
The early months of the year the black jig was doing better, around april they started liking the white jig more. My trusty goto is the yamashita silver mullet NKN colour thats all ways done well.

Great content as always man.. i went fishing today, was able to christen the new surf rod and reel combo I got yesterday with a 35cm flathead, so happy I caught something on it. Sadly didn't get any squid, water was so dirty...

Thanks for a good content James. I was with a mate at welshpool long jetty over the weekend and only caught a tiny squid and under size flatty, so I throw it back. We're aiming for mackerel but they never came😢.

Thanks Donn! This time of year it ain’t easy. For the mackerel you should aim when the water temp is from 18-23 degrees
