- Here is the new S580 V8 EQ Hybrid, of the w223 new 2021 #SClass generation! #MercedesBenz have invited us out to a very wet Stuttgart for a few hours only, to test the New S, so I’m going to focus fully on the drive experience, and the “being driven” experience too!
#Mercedes have been given a hard time on the interior design of the S Class, and rightly so! It’s controversial with the two huge screens. But as we will discover today, they are merely a form factor for the insanely advanced MBUX Operating System that helps revolutionise the experience of driving the new S-Class.
The advanced ambient lighting in the new S Class is my favourite feature. It’s not just about making the interior pretty anymore, now it interacts with you via the MBUC Voice Assistant, and like a sensor detects who is talking!! We ask it some random things and you’ll be surprised by the answers!
But is it S Class enough in the way you feel driving it and being driven in it?

The voice recognition is much improved over the last S class, where it was hit or miss. I found the Audi A8 to be superior in that regard. This is is better than both.
It’s almost as if Mercedes themselves couldn’t outdo the outgoing w222 model. What a car that was. Such presence on the road and interior so elegant. This is 🤷🏽♂️
I agree the w222 has a timeless beautiful interior and exterior. One of the nicest looking luxury cars out there
Disagree, new one looks better interior and exterior. You can argue the old interior may age better.

I have to say, I don’t get the usual ‘wow’ factor from the front styling as I’ve done with the previous S Class models

The drivers' big middle ipad jutting out like that, n not blended n flowed in smoothly into the console makes it look disparagingly hideous...

The exterior design is ok and has grown on me but doesn't have the same presence as the previous car. The inside is more sporty and doesn't feel as luxury but where the driver sits is actually really nice in the way that everything wraps around you. The rear interior is ok but as you showed in the video, there is a huge step up in tech...also when is the MERCH coming?
I finally love the interior. First time i hated it, but now i like it very much. It looks very sporty and the interior i think they do a good job. In the previous it was perfect but i think this is more futuristic

A piece of bad design is unlikely to grow on anyone. An unusual design, maybe - a bad one, no. People will just become indifferent to it as it becomes (if it becomes) a more common sight.
@@cuttight when the W222 came out in 2014, people said the same thing. “Omg they’ve ruined it” “omg why would they get rid of the wide fender arches on the 2221” ... 6 years later now look. We all love it and think it’s the best S class ever.

The W222 didn't get anywhere near the negative press this one is getting. The main objections there were that it's lines on profile didn't look refined enough (which was rectified over time, because those design elements were not part of the fundamental / proportional design of the car). With this one, they have really cocked it up. Only Mercedes fanboys and fangirls are prepared to defend this piece of design failure the new S NoClass is.
Rest assured, though, it will become a very popular taxi for Uber as it will only be used by people who don't care what it is and what it looks like as long as their 45 min ride to the airport is comfy enough.

On the German configurator you can opt for the metal weave trim for the centre console, and i wonder if you do that, does all of the other black elements of the interior change too, like on the door and the rear compartment divider?
One of the better reviews of any car that I’ve seen.
Mercedes definitely knows how to make you feel special and knows their Technology and Performance very well. I'm definitely blown by their Team like the S-Class is really on a League of it's own I don't think the other Luxury cars have most of their features.

Love the video Raz. Was really nervous when I first saw the test cars a few months ago... And as usual with the a new S, MB was so far in front of the game I certainly wasn't ready for the looks. However, I'm really beginning to warm to the looks. The tech is a given... Still nervous about those screens though, and the decision will be one for seeing in person... I've got a CLS63 right now and I'm having an S next time, but not decided which one - new one or older version...

Appeal to younger buyers? I'm 16 and I'd rather have an analog gauge cluster with 1 or 2 medium sized screens in the middle, and I'm pretty sure most other people would too.

I don’t know man the exterior is growing on me, but I still hesitant 😕 to fall in love like the previous model did at first sight. The interior does gives me that feel, but I guess it’s a matter of getting used too.

Exactly... The Mercedes Benz brand has become a watered down luxury company. Rolls and Bentley know that they aren't in competition with a relatively new manufacturer called Tesla... This S Class will be an epic failure.

Love your video. Really well produced and written... Thoughts on the ambient lighting; I think I would drive with a colour other than red. I would do this to reserve red for warnings. I think blue would be my colour of choice for greater contrast when the red kicks in.

I'm a big fan of the screens. It's something that sets the S apart from the other ones, and I think that's rather important since Mercedes makes their cars look very much a like.

I miss the screen surround hood thing. This looks lacking in some ways. Also not a fan of the rear lights. Looks like a sad dog :/

The S has always been the flagship when it comes to Tech and Safety. We will see these features in all other cars, manufactures in the next 10 years.

The rumor was saying that there is no plan for coupe version... but I still hope to see S coupe (new CL?) in ~2023. Even though the new SL is coming there is a big space for big Coupe in the market. Please Mercedes, continue the beautiful story of big powerful and luxurious 2 door cars. And dont make mistake like BMW in 8 sereis - the B pillar is highly unrequired :)
