Audi has stepped up their game quite a bit. Even though the interior might look dated, it's extremely well thought out and as a daily I think it's the best car out of the 3.
Have the Audi A6, but with the petrol V6 (340hp) i really love the versatility of the car, and 4 wheel steering is a must on it. Makes the car handle better and stick really well to the road as well. I will say my biggest issue with it is the infotainment system, it is a bit buggy at times, and the climate controls would be better as buttons but it is what it is. Overall really happy with it.
normally i’ve been bmw fan and owner but ignoring the fact that audi is still keeping the car nice looking out of the 3, does it ride better? grip on the corners etc.
@@funnyalbanian6792 BMW are almost always better at those things but the Audi can really hold its ground there as well. Especially if you put it in dynamic mode (sports mode).
Honestly, Audi is the best. Most integrated screens with a subtle design on the outside. I’m a E91 BMW owner, but I’m never buying a new BMW again - they’ve ruined their cars! I’ll stick to Porsche or Audi, with the Burmester and Bang & Olufson sound systems
There’s way more plastic inside the 5 series. The back and center console panels are cheap. Door handles and materials aren’t the same. Also if you’re touching the Mercedes shifter try touching the 5 series blinker buttons or wipers they feel mad cheap
Exactly, even the door which he didn’t mention The Mercedes has better materials all over the door… whereas the BMW uses base 3 series materials in the same place
I have a Merc 300e and do actually use the inbuilt sat nav as I am led to believe this enables the car to determine when best to use which motor or both. It also enables the car to select when would need to select lower gear when going up hill etc. Overall giving improved combined mpg and better driving experience. Love the car

The LCI update of the previous 5 series was perfect - a great looking thing in M Sport guise which I'd love to own. I drove past a new 520d and it was a complete design mess that I have no desire to ever drive.
21:15 Why not compare the 530e. Its also a 2.0 4 cyl hybrid with 300 hp. Or the 40 tfsi and E200 with the 520i. Theres also 520d in the configurator as an option
yip, 4 decades ive worked on cars and its went full circle. The german brands are British Leyland at this point, conglomerated parts bin junk guaranteed to let you down when it matters. Drive them spirited at all and the drivetrain components dont like it one bit and wont last. We have a new phenomenon of engines losing power naturally over a short period of time. No longer takes 150+k miles to start getting compression issues its now happening as fast as it did on rotary engines. B58 for example gets praises on youtube yet is top of the engine failure rate chart alongside N47. You couldnt make it up.
I had the 530i xdrive as a rental in USA this week. I like the design, especially the rear. The nose can be better but glad they didn’t screw up the grill. I think the steering is way too loose. Prefer the steering on my 328i F31, more tight
I think they forgot to mention the bootspace of the 5-series Hybrids, which i believe is still 520 liters and it is 490 liters in the I5, which is impressive.
That was not fair comparison Matt, first time seeing wrong engine types compared in such rivalry race on this channel. I demand hybrid vs hybrid and pure IC engine vs pure IC engine comparison. It felt like a comersial rather than comparison 😂😂
Tough. The BMW is about the same price as the Merc and way more expensive than the Audi. That's on BMW for not giving enough for the money. Totally valid comparison.
They all have an entry-level IC with 200-210bhp. They could have compared these. But then the price difference between BMW and Audi would have been too big. Especially after the carwow discount.
@@christianlittle9348From what I've discerned in exchanges with people from Germany (primarily regarding geopolitics), the country has made the mistake of being too dependent on the Chinese market, which is unwise. I think these trends, and BMW as a whole, are totally aimed at that market. Because of that, I kind of fear for Germany's car manufacturers. If things do come crashing down, Audi probably stands the best chance because they are the most diversified.
BMW is the most disliked brand in the UK based on surveys from UK drivers. It is not the car that people dislike it is the way that they are driven. I regularly see X5s written off and old 3 series and new 1 series for that matter. If you cannot beat them join them. I'll take the 5 series thanks.
I miss the good old 70s 80s and 90s flagship cars. Manual gearbox. Big 6 and 8 cilinder na engines. Analogue gages. Knobs and switches. Oh, and great exterior and interior styling. There is something lost along the way.
No airmatic is a huge letdown. My father has the predecessor with airmatic and the difference to the standard one is insane. Feels like youre hovering over the road.
The UK is a second or third-tier market now that its per capita GDP is so low. So Merc de-contents the car to make it affordable to the locals. They do the same in the former soviet states and the Balkans, for example. Only prime-tier markets like the USA, China, France, Germany, Japan etc get all the options now.

Not to mention the obscene amount of piano black and the low quality plastic on the tunnel...
People should stop judging these cars from online reviews, they're just full of bias.
Price difference
Matt has always been biased towards bmw
Matt is part of the bmw fan boys club
The BMW plastic don’t feel cheap tho.
I used to be very passionate about cars for 30+ years now, couldn't wait to see new models coming to market, what they have to offer.
But i got so bored, most of them are uglier, more expensive, made with cheaper and cheaper materials with every generation that comes.
I would rather buy an old one.
Same. Open up and auto car and it’s 90% stuff I couldn’t care less about.
Couldn't agree more with both of you...
I'm in the same boat with you...
The voice recognition test is the greatest part. You should do this for every vehicle.
The front of that BMW looks so much like a Skoda
It is not BMW fault if Skoda has copied everything BMW.
It's not BMW's fault that Skodas look prettier than BMWs
That's an insult to Skoda
@@hassanger8128 So Skoda used a time machine did they? To steal BMWs design of the 5, and go back in time to design their front ends to make it look like they came up with it first?
To be honest the water bottle test is a great idea and should become a carwow standard!
That segment was tedious
why? who needs to know that to make a purchase decision. The Rolling Distance Test was also not that useful, who cares if the car drives 1m closer in cruise controle or not.
@@affectedrl5327 I care about the interior storage space of a car, don’t you?
Audi has stepped up their game quite a bit. Even though the interior might look dated, it's extremely well thought out and as a daily I think it's the best car out of the 3.
Jajajaja jajajaja, Audi?
Matt be wildin 😂
May I say this is the most sus episode ever ??
Matt Watson obviously loving this actually.
@@stabakfanthanks man! i really like Audi’s exterior more than bmw, and interior obv.
That intro was wiiiiild 💀

Simply 10/10.

Audi man here says the Union Rings are the Best. Each of these brands are unique and it really boils down to individual needs.
never has there been a more disappointing crop of mid size saloon cars.
There’s way more plastic inside the 5 series. The back and center console panels are cheap. Door handles and materials aren’t the same. Also if you’re touching the Mercedes shifter try touching the 5 series blinker buttons or wipers they feel mad cheap
Exactly, even the door which he didn’t mention
The Mercedes has better materials all over the door… whereas the BMW uses base 3 series materials in the same place
@@scottsmith9903 agreed. Even the c300 has better doors than the 5 series
The Mercedes feels way more luxurious too.
I have a Merc 300e and do actually use the inbuilt sat nav as I am led to believe this enables the car to determine when best to use which motor or both. It also enables the car to select when would need to select lower gear when going up hill etc. Overall giving improved combined mpg and better driving experience. Love the car
So nobody gonna talk about that intro 😂 Matt is a mad men
I like the Mercedes Voice Assistant, works like Google Assistant. You don’t have to keep repeating “Hey Mercedes” every time, nice touch Mercedes
You know, they all work the same, just press the Voice button on the steering wheel if you don't feel like saying "Hey Mercedes", because otherwise it doesn't work.
@user-gt8dh7qj3wbmw has the worst infotainment system. MBUX is the best on the market!
@user-gt8dh7qj3wYou do know mercedes came out with the natural voice control right? Yep, since 2012. And of course you are wrong, the mercedes is much nicer
The lights and other design elements on the 5 series look like fridge magnets 😂
🤣🤣🤣
That eye test is a first I'm seeing a video with it been done as for the BMW I agree with Matt about the front view one thing for sure the infotainment inside is alot more nicer than the other 2 cars Good review Matt 👍👍
Please compare audi Q8 2024 facelift vs mercedes gle 2024 facelift vs x5/x6 2024 facelift
£55k start price on the e class? I wonder what justifies a 33% increase over the outgoing model?
Global inflation + expedient profiteering
The LCI update of the previous 5 series was perfect - a great looking thing in M Sport guise which I'd love to own. I drove past a new 520d and it was a complete design mess that I have no desire to ever drive.
21:15 Why not compare the 530e. Its also a 2.0 4 cyl hybrid with 300 hp. Or the 40 tfsi and E200 with the 520i. Theres also 520d in the configurator as an option
There is no world where the BMW is better than the Mercedes. Really surprising
I hate the BMW screen I prefer the 2019 model with connected small screen and physical buttons
Audi is old but gold. I like it the best out of those three
cars are not the same😢
I miss the older generations
yip, 4 decades ive worked on cars and its went full circle.
Price : audi
4WL : audi
interior : audi - solid, benz - plastic
drag race : audi
Design : audi
Boot : audi
Progress, human enters UA-cam, a few likes later becomes an empty Tube spouting opinions, facts be damned.
I think they forgot to mention the bootspace of the 5-series Hybrids, which i believe is still 520 liters and it is 490 liters in the I5, which is impressive.
The Audi looks the best. But back in 2015 these 3 cars were timeless and elegant. What happened
These reviews are getting wild, fearless and fresh! I love it!
21:11 those MPG numbers are crazy
German W == English V, should have tried "take me to Vank" or "Navigate to Vank"
that voice command test just insures my want to punch a hole in the hyper screen
So BMW lost every test, and it won the overall? Did they sponsor this episode?
I would buy the mercedes. In this class the comfort is so important on the long stretches. Also it has by far the best interior.
It squeaks and rattles like crazy
Mercedes quality has gone down hill it’s crazy and BMW has the ugliest new designs it’s like the Germans are just not that ahead anymore.
@@nemoralia- the C class built in South Africa do squeak and rattle more than the E class built in Germany
@@nemoralia- Not when you drive. Only when you press it.
17:22 yooo that "pardon" had me rolling 😂😂😂
BMW is the most disliked brand in the UK based on surveys from UK drivers. It is not the car that people dislike it is the way that they are driven. I regularly see X5s written off and old 3 series and new 1 series for that matter. If you cannot beat them join them. I'll take the 5 series thanks.
Hello carwow-Matt... we would like to see also a cheaper option between them...like the skoda superb in that instance ! i think its worth a spot there
That tow hitch scene 😂 ⤴️
You can tell that Mat has watched *A LOT* of porn in his time.
I miss the good old 70s 80s and 90s flagship cars. Manual gearbox. Big 6 and 8 cilinder na engines. Analogue gages. Knobs and switches. Oh, and great exterior and interior styling.
There is something lost along the way.

The ZZ-S Tommykaira also costed cheaper than BMW 5 SERIES 2024 somehow.
I like the way you’ve done this review, it’s very well done and zi love the humour.
Speaking of the E-Class, how come UK cars don't get the Airmatic air suspension or rear-wheel-steering that's offered in other markets?
No airmatic is a huge letdown. My father has the predecessor with airmatic and the difference to the standard one is insane. Feels like youre hovering over the road.
cop an S-class at that point
The UK is a second or third-tier market now that its per capita GDP is so low. So Merc de-contents the car to make it affordable to the locals. They do the same in the former soviet states and the Balkans, for example. Only prime-tier markets like the USA, China, France, Germany, Japan etc get all the options now.
Why the car doesnt have the airmatic, @@RikiJasmin?
@@blastaway1784same also as in Mexico.
Whilst I would love to get 565MPG I think that some of the figures in the engines section are incorrect.
The 5 series design is growing on me, and I'm afraid, I'm starting to like it. Perhaps because it reminds me of an E60 and I always like E60's design.
what a shock Mat chose the BMW :D No one person expected to chose something else :D
Audi drives better, faster, cheaper and way better looking. But pays less bunce.
BMW just paid to Matt. That’s why he chooses them all the time 😂😂
@SampleTracks22245 series is much better to drive but Audi does good too as it's so cheap

matt please don't insult the rotary dial on the BMW 🤣I have it on my 2020 x5 and it makes navigating the menus so easy
Mat setting Sat Nav with voice commands is so hilarious
The car manufacturers of today think that too much tech and plastic is all what customers need in this day and age. However, this in my view is compromising the classic luxury and quality themes of previous generation models.
