- I happen to be starting my Onan Marquis Gold 5500 generator in my 5th wheel from the outside when I heard debris flying around and could smell burning rubber. I pulled the generator out and disassembled it before I decided to make my first UA-cam video showing the repair steps. So it starts off with the generator on the bench showing the failure.

Typical of how we learn sequential assembly. But the fact that you do learn which has to go on first and such makes it a true learning experience. Been there and done that so many times with different equipment... Thumbs Up!
It's how I learn best. Reading a book on how to do it is not nearly as effective for me.

Man, this is super helpful I'm not sure I would've known where to start but I definitely would've tried! I'm sure you saved a good chunk of $$$ by doing it all yourself!

So did this auto shutdown when it started coming apart or did you just hear a crazy noise and shut it down? The witness marks weren't super crazy so I'm guessing you caught it pretty quick!
I've been fighting random shutdowns for a while and am going to be making a video on what I found. As for when this happened, it was by chance that I decided to start the generator with the switches on the unit and it came apart within 5 seconds of starting.
