many years ago, I was passing by a local supermarket. I saw a fire rescue vehicle with the hood open, so I stopped to see if I could help. Apparently, a connecting rod for the starter had broken off. After looking at the problem, I went back to my truck and grabbed a six inch bunjee cord. It was a perfect fit! They were able to get the rig back to the station so it could be properly repaired. Being a former boy scout and soldier, being prepared for just about anything is in my dna. Great vid bro. Keep 'em comin'!
Wonderful ideas, I hadn't thought of using them for electronic cords, which I am blessed with too many of. And you crack me up, Tarp smells good! Not many people would say that, but I know whatcha mean LOL!
Job done , thumb up. Love this kind of video, you see those things every day, but you never have the idea of what else they can be used. Thank you from Switzerland
This is why this channel is called "SensiblePrepper"! You see al these guys spending thousands on top notch gear, or what they perceive to be top notch gear when really, they could have a thousand dollar kit and you could have a $50-$100 kit and still beat them! Awesome video from Australia!
That's not true, he says God bless America because some other countries may have a different good such as Buddha, he is being politicly correct, America is a country of Jesus Christ, he is on our dollar bills, we are a country of God, no other country's worship God like America, so sir, you are the incorrect one
1. Jesus isn't on the money 2. Buddha isn't a god, Buddhism is an atheistic religion 3. There may be a deleted comment, but I don't see how that relates to this mans comment
You can also pair the hooks together in one finger and find the middle of the bungee cord in the other to pass through a strap hanger and insert the two hooked ends of your bungee through the bungee loop to synch the bungee cord to the strap hanger on one end of your computer bag and run the two hooks from both ends of your bungee cord to the other strap hanger to have a much more firm grip handle attached to your computer bag.
Great video Sootch! TY for sharing your ideas, I particularly enjoyed the use on mollie webbing. I am disabled, in a wheelchair,, and people laugh at the goofy ways I find to make our sport and life easier for me to fit into. As a wheelchair shooter, I find it even harder to find gear that "fits" or is even designed with wheelchair shooters in mind. I enjoy your channel, love your State, love the USA, and I am glad to be Canadian and live to cover your Northern border. TY again my friend,, eh!...LOL.
Went camping recently and I was at walmart and just decided to get a pack of small bungees and let me tell you those things came in handy so much from tarps to a tie around for a sleeping bag
HUSH !!! My Mom used that command on me regularly..... it worked well when combined with "wait til your father gets home"... lol Thanks for the great vid !
I usually fixed firewood on a wheelbarrow with four or five bungee cords horizontally, and a long elastic skipping-rope, made of rubber, combined with a meat hook, vertically
Thanks for this video. I had seen 'bungee cords" on recommended lists for years and just didn't get get it. What possible use could one of these really have? Well, now I know.
I have one of those suitcase dollies that has a laundry hamper mounted on the dolly with bungees plus I used them to secure items on my other dolly and in truck beds when I did a recent move
Sootch00, I've also seen several videos that suggest using a bungee on your tent/tarp shelter Ridgeline to prevent damaging your shelter in windy conditions.
When is a bungee cord stretched too tightly before it breaks? I am using a bungee cord to its maximum stretch (really had to pull the ends together to get them to meet to secure a springloaded long handle) and I'm concerned that the cord might pop/break, allowing the springloaded long handle to pop up and hit something or someone.
I worried about my jars and preps falling from my shelve I’m a widow and live on a 10 acre home stead so I prep no neighbors!! The cords to hold my preps worked perfect in case of earth quake please talk about securing your preps from earthquakes!!!! Your info is great thank u!!! Yes I have chicken s!!!!
Bungee cords are indispensable to me, hence when I went to the store the other day I nearly had a fit that a staff member had cut one up to hang a shop banner for the photography section haha. Anyway, great video, love all the videos of yours I've seen so far.
My philosophy: I've never seen a nut or bolt that I couldn't use later. Same for old bungee cord 'ends'. I keep them and buy shock cord/bungee cord in various sizes and make mine 'custom fit' for things around the farm. I get stuff from Sgt. Knots, Amazon.

We need to learn how to make bungee loops similar to the elastic hair bands. There must be a diy process to gluing and some sort of lashing technique we can master to force multiply the common bungee by making it a hook-less loop. With as many uses as I have found with the common hair band surely there is a market for a sturdy heavy duty bungee loop. Any ideas or knowledge on the processes or available products would be helpful. Thanks.
Its worth saying that, you need to make sure you attact these cords securely because when these ping off they can hurt, I had one cut me under the eye, I was lucky.
@@griff8858 it happened 40 years ago, i was in the hospital for a month the bungee cord left marks on my neck when it wrapped around and ripped my eye out. The police showed up because the marks looked like marks from fingers. Yes it happened. All i am saying is be careful.
@@griff8858 no problem i do have pics of me after i was hit by a semi truck, with full riding gear my arm is hanging off and my face smashed, it was the one of the few intersections without cctv, no video but i do have pics.
Trying to "bungie together" some of your "25 uses for" video tips, It gets interesting... you can secure your paper clips, prophylactics, aluminum cans, tampons, 2 liters, Makarovs, ammo... Do a compilation!
-Wrap bungee cord around a can for an emergency beverage can koosie. Caution: cans can be cold. -SHTF improvised slingshot -Emergency bandage wrap for sprains. -No hat? Use a piece of cloth over your head and use a bungee cord to secure the cloth to your head. -Emergency dog leash. -Rock pillow. Take a large rock and place grass, cloth, weeds, etc, around the rock. Then wrap bungee cords around it tightly to lock in the grass around the rock. If you use enough grass, etc, it should be fairly soft. -Hammock holders around trees -Alarm system. Bungee cord across door with bell attached? -Snow traction? Snow shoes? 2 to 6 smaller bungees around shoes top to bottom. At bottom of shoes add sticks in between your soles and the bungees to hold the sticks in place. Instant traction! -Neck warmer in survival. Don't wrap too tight. -Metal hooks on bungee cord ends could be bent and attached to sticks as improvised defense weapon for wildlife, bear, etc. -Plastic dollar/grocery store bag holder. Thread bungee cord through handles of your plastic bagged dollar store treasures and carry them all inside in one trip. Then celebrate with your favorite beverage, but don't forget your bungee cord koosie. -
If you have a bunch of these, go thru them every 6 months because they elastic will go bad. I prefer the rubber shock cords myself, but I do use bungees. Nothing worse than pulling out a bungee and finding it dry rotted.

If the bungee cord is too long, just tie a knot, or several knots in it, as needed, to shorten the cord, until it works for you.
