This is also useful for having your favorite hot sauce when dining out. However, an average diameter straw is very difficult to work with unless you have an eye-dropper or syringe.
I would like to add : pay attention to using clear straws for meds, don't expose meds to sunlight, .it can degrade them, if it comes in a light blocking container , its not meant to be exposed to direct sunlight/light.
I liked this video too, but what I really like most about your "multiple use" videos is that it reveals how many useful items are to be found in our everyday life if we will only keep an open mind and use our imagination. You don't have to stock up on every last prep item ever discovered, just learn to use what's at hand. As I've heard, the secret to happiness is learning to love what you have. best wishes to you and yours.
I remember when Altoid mint survival kits were the rage. Imagine how many single serve straw items you could put in a can that size. Love the straw idea.
You could use a funnel to add spices or other powders. Something I thought of. Measure out some flavored drink powder, add the right amount of sugar, and you have a single serve drink mix.
Use boba straws and put triple a batteries using the excess straw to create spacers so the batteries don't discharge and voila waterproof battery containers
Great video! I would just add that you might want to get all the air out of the tube when you are storing oil for cooking. It lasts longer and tastes better as it can go rancid when exposed to air.
Great video Sootch! Keep up the great work that your doing for this country! In my eyes and many others, your a True Patriot! And yes, I use Dawn dish soap for many things, never really thought of it as a prep but, I guess it is! Its a great degreaser! Number 1 reason I love it is for window cleaning! A little secret...that's what the pros use in my area for high rise window cleaning! I haven't bought any Windex in years...lol! -Get you a spray bottle and add a little Dawn (about 4 to 5 small drops) and then water & your done! Should end up with a light blue color liquid, you can play around with it but, its a hell of a lot better then paying $4 or $5 for the leading brand window cleaner. When one small bottle of Dawn will last you a year or so!
Aloha. I actually like the colored straws, all sorts of them, because I color code what they are used for. I used to separately fill straws with coffee, sugar, creamer....now, I pre-mix the proportions to my taste of all 3, for a single cup serving of coffee exactly as I like, and put that in a single straw cut to fit. The fishing kits and sewing kits are awesome, they keep those sharp tips safe and ready to use. And yes, Intense Angler was also my first exposure to this. It is fun seeing what new things everyone keeps finding to add to the possibilities. The .22LR ammo was something I had not thought of, so thanks for that tip. Please do more of these types of videos. The videos on high-tech space shuttle tail gunner sights are fun, but damn they hurt the wallet. Peace & Prepare Pax et Paro
this is brilliant. i carry a mini salt and pepper shaker which will now be replaced by tiny straws filled with seasonings. gonna replace the purell bottle with this same method. i go on hikes and 1 night camping trips, so this will really help minimize things. thanks for another great idea sootch.
I was taught not to take strong smelling herbs and spices as scents carry for considerable distances while cooking and will seep from your pours. Commerial sachets/straws of salt/pepper/sugar/mustard/vinegar/ketchup/soy sauce you can snag afew extra while at fast food outlets. Tabasco sauce is a must, it can make anything edible even MRE's. I also keep flavour packets from noodle packs and potnoodles, using bulk condiments i have in the kitchen. Straws are good for storing coffee, you can pre-measure coffee/whiter/sugar single servings for example or just good old strong black.
that was a really great tip- especially the fire starting cotton with the oil or vaseline...leaving it in the plastic made it burn longer and I can see how even in the worst conditions anyone could get a fire started with that...Thanks
Awesome video, you do some great work! Something to pass along - wake up juice (ammonia with toothpick to cut through straw) would be another good item for quick access. You can also seal the straws by sections or links (think sausage links). This will make finding whatever your looking for much easier/faster since they're connected. For storage and protection (this is one of my all time favorites), a personal NBC decon kit container ~ extremely strong to prevent punctures ~ completely air tight ~ takes real effort to open, no accidental opening ~ if exterior is wiped down after closing, will also be nearly invisible to a dog's nose. Perfect place to carry hard copy docs, maps, etc Anything that needs to be kept sanitary (sutures, charcoal for sterilization, masking human smell, etc.) Love your channel brother 🤙
I did this with triple antibiotic ointment today, and it worked great, this will be good for a small first aid kit in my handbag, car, and kits for other places, thanks. going to try salt and pepper next for picnics.
I use malted straws, larger diameter...in my straws I put the following: spaghetti, rice, instant potatoes, sugar, salt, pepper, garlic salt, powdered milk, coffee, creamer, plus many other dried goods, enough for two people for two days...these work great and fit the inside pocket of my back pack...I also use a Sharpie pen to mark on the straw the contents
Great videos, enjoy them all. One thing I might suggest, when you showed cutting the end off the garlic salt and then putting a cap on it, that won't be waterproof anymore, so, normally you have a multitool and lighter with you for EDC, why not just reseal it the way it was at the start. Cut close to the sealed end, when you use some you will have enough length left after the cut to reheat and seal. Another thing you can seal is bleach, enough in each packet to purify say one container of water. Again, great videos.
Pooch1953 Another youtuber mentioned that it might be fine to seal up bleach in a straw for a week(end) getaway, but it is not suitable for long-term storage. It will oxidize the pp plastic and cause leaks if left in a kit for long periods. For that they used a glass sample tube from colognes/perfumes.
Excellent video! I've been pondering a cheap and easy way to transport Olive oil and spices in single serve pouches for camping and outdoor adventures. You really helped me out! The tinder in the straws was a bonus as I had never thought about that either. Keep the videos coming.
I see you didn’t come up with the idea, but you are one that I watch frequently. Thanks for sharing the ideas you find and thanks for sharing where you saw it. Now, I have someone else channel to enjoy. Thanks sooch
Love this ill be doing same from here on out i always looking to make things smaller and smaller this will works wonders thanks a lot, love your videos keep them coming.
Great video, as always. Gonna get me some straws, really liked the idea of putting ammo in a straw and sealing it afterwards. The straws with a smaller diameter should feed air rifle ammo just fine.
When marking your straws, you need to put some scotch tape on the tube and use the sharpie to write on the tape, otherwise the sharpie will rub off of the straw....i've tested multiple times with different markers, all do the same thing.....i've been doing this for a few years now.....
I always keep a straw of salt on me... Such a morale boost. Just wanted to add that if you don't have/ feel like using pliers, after I cut open and use some salt, when I'm done I reseal it, you can hear the end, lick your fingers then squeeze them, dosent hurt that bad and seals it just fine
I'm looking for some good ideas to put into the straws. I have one that you might enjoy: potassium permanganate. It is good for wounds, fire starting AND water purification.
The Vaseline impregnated cotton balls can be set alight with a spark REAL easy as well. Open one out to the size of a quarter, and aim your sparks into it. Works every time.
Very cool ideas! Has anyone ever filled one of these homemade containers with powder, with markings on the straw to indicate precise amounts for reloading? Just like the 3 .22LR, enough to reload a few cartridges could be a real lifesaver. : ) *Keep educating the free republic*
Ointments come in single use applications. that take up even less room than the straws most medicines come in pack friendly containers as well, but this is great for spices, matches and other dry goods. Another thought would be to get a small zip pack that attaches to backpack that contains only your straws filled with whatever you like. Good vid.
Hey Sootch I saw the Intense anglers video on the drinking straw storage idea but I like what you did by taking it and improving on it a bit more especially with the antibacterial ointment idea. keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for this video. Just as you were inspired by Intense Angler's video which l saw previously, you took it to another level and inspired me to start doing this. Thank you Sootch.
Make a video on wire coat hangers, you can make some pretty good things with them, pot stands, pot hangers, paracord ties, tent pegs, hand cuffs, game hooks, gun cleaning rods and loads more, I would love to see what you use them for
Cool ideas in this video! I like the little spice packets, & was thinking that you could use a longer straw, put in a smaller amount, heat the pliers enough to seal & repeat the process. I'm going to try this & some of your ideas.
I'm sure you know that the matches you used "Ohio Blue Tip Matches" where stick on box only! But you did not bring that up, Diamond matches are the only stick anywhere match out there. No way as good as Blue Tip! Good Video!!! As all ways! I was born in Wadsworth, Ohio that is where the Blue Tip Match was made. Many many years ago!!! Like me!!! Thanks again!!! Lee
I know its a luxury but I did the same thing with instant coffee for hiking trips, works very well
Right now 90% of my bugout bag is coffee and coffee related items! Maybe I should go to Nodoz lol!
Yeah, but likely these straw containers are going to be packed away, not sitting on a window ledge 😅
Still, this is good info!! Thanks Lewis!
Great remake Brother. Thanks a bunch for the credit & shoutout btw... much appreciated.

Use a triple antibiotic ointment instead of petroleum jelly for double duty use--sure fire tinder AND first aid applications.
Good info. Thanks Bro~
Great to know something like that, appreciate it!

This is what preparing is all about - great job!!! Thanks for sharing with all of us in this community. And yes - God bless America!
All of your vids have a lot of useful creative tips. Thanks for taking the time to share them with us.
Keep up the good work!

I absolutely LOVE this video, I will be prepping this way as well
I can't believe I'm watching these videos! lol. But all great ideas. Very clever.
Genius!

Smart!!! I wouldn't of even thought of using straws for something like this! ! But now I will!!
Excellent. Never would have thought of such a compact idea.
Mezillch channel was the first one I seen this concept presented on many years ago.
Another great instructional video. The things you can put in those straws is endless.
this is brilliant. i carry a mini salt and pepper shaker which will now be replaced by tiny straws filled with seasonings. gonna replace the purell bottle with this same method. i go on hikes and 1 night camping trips, so this will really help minimize things. thanks for another great idea sootch.

Simple, easy, cheap, versatile, and so practical! I love it!

That bit about using the waterproof matches..then the giggle killed me! Hahaha wonderful ideas. Thanks!

This is your most useful video I've seen.
I always bring a metal straw with me for blowing on my camp fire.
Excellent ideas! they look very sturdy and professional, I'll have to use these.
This is unbelievable. Once again I'm impressed

used to make quick loads for my flintlock muzzle loader with McDonald straws
Lol, using a lighter to seal the ends must have been sweat-inducing. :p
every time you dropped a bullet down my heart stopped your gonna set of the primer. i dont want you dying on me losing your videos.
Sootch, you never dissapoint.. What a great isea!
I knew about using the straw this way but you had some great ideas for what to put in the straw that I hadn't heard of. Thanks!
Oh that is so cool. Now I got to buy some straws and do this, Because even the trial sized things I have in my bug out bag, fill it up a lot.
These are some great ideas for sealed straws, thanks for sharing.
great job other channels are costing me too much damn money you keep it real thanks.
BUY AMERICAN PRODUCTS PEOPLE!
This video was amazing. So simple, most people would never think of this! I've really enjoyed your videos, but this one. So brilliant!
Excellent video! I've been pondering a cheap and easy way to transport Olive oil and spices in single serve pouches for camping and outdoor adventures. You really helped me out! The tinder in the straws was a bonus as I had never thought about that either. Keep the videos coming.
This is LITERALLY genius. Way to Go Sootch!
Fecking brilliant. Would never have thought of that.
Another great video. I did this last year and will be showing my oldest son how to do this this weekend.
Absolutely fantastic idea sootch.
Great video man! you gave me an idea, of how to put some alcohol and lidocaine in my compact first aid kit
I can't wait try this out. Definitely will lighten my pack up.
I absolutely loved this video!!! Thank you so very much!
Wow I would have never thought of all the uses of a straw thanks.
I see you didn’t come up with the idea, but you are one that I watch frequently. Thanks for sharing the ideas you find and thanks for sharing where you saw it. Now, I have someone else channel to enjoy. Thanks sooch
Great idea. I think I'll put some RemOil in some single use tubes for my day pack and B.O.B.
That is actually a really good idea !!! Well done, it looks so professionnal too.
Love this ill be doing same from here on out i always looking to make things smaller and smaller this will works wonders thanks a lot, love your videos keep them coming.
The .22 rounds was a great idea! ANOTHER fantastic vid!
Thanks for noting the difference in straw sizes.
you dont have to be rude
Great video, as always. Gonna get me some straws, really liked the idea of putting ammo in a straw and sealing it afterwards. The straws with a smaller diameter should feed air rifle ammo just fine.
Great video and thank you for the creative ideas!
Absolutely love love love this! Thank you!
When marking your straws, you need to put some scotch tape on the tube and use the sharpie to write on the tape, otherwise the sharpie will rub off of the straw....i've tested multiple times with different markers, all do the same thing.....i've been doing this for a few years now.....
nice idea, small, light, easy to do and perfect for campimng or survival!!!
What sucks is that those Ohio Blue tip matches use to be strike anywhere matches. Now they've neutered them into strike on box only types.
If you got pulled over and a cop seen that he'd probably think you're carrying little tubes of crack or something
That's what i thought hahaha
M Wballer bro you could so easily go through x-rays with those tubes haha.
Truth! It happened to me. i showed the cop this video and he finally believed me.
@@daaaviddarley8803 , LOLOLOL, thats awesome. Lucky you aren't a black guy, he might have shot you sixteen times for grabbing your phone.
😂😂
I like this! Anything to reduce weight so I can carry more ammo I'm all for! Thanks Sootch! 👍
Thanks, friend! Two Aleve ready to go in my Maxpedition!
That's pretty slick! Good tip Sootch.
Also look up the straws for bubble smoothies. You can find them at any Asian food store or online. They are really big. Almost half inch in diameter.
xD This is very awesome. Who would've thought that this would be so easy?
That is a really good idea, thanks for the idea, video, & info.
Thanks sensible prepper for all you have taught me!
I have to let you know at a livestock feed store you can much more accurate syringes.
I knew this a few times ago but you hadded a few options great vid.
I know right, good for oil and fire tinder
Best prep vids ever, keep em commin'
I freakin love your work. Keep em comin my man 🤘
