I happened across this video by total accident, and I’m SO happy that I did. I had a somewhat difference experience on my skin. I am old though and skin is drier. I am in my 50s. I actually got two separate compliments on my skin the day I wore this. That NEVER happens. On top of that, my teen son asked how I looked better lol. The difference is probably bc of my age and the fact that I set my whole face with hourglass infinity powder. The combo of those two products worked great for me. (oh, and also used Tatcha primer).
We need more real beauty bloggers like this rather than those perfect skin people

This is genuinely THE WAY to do a foundation review! Different applications, with and without primer(s), different times of day and lengths of wear, honest detailed opinions, close-ups and most importantly: NO FILTERS! Thank you so much for this, you just saved me a lot of money 🥰

I want to just thank you for not using a stupid skin filter and blurring out your face.... so many beauty youtubers do this nowadays.
I rather see someone’s real skin, pores, lines, acne, "flaws" and all. No one has skin like that besides like dolls and figures.
All it's doing is rewiring people's brains and setting a horrible example for people with no self confidence and innocent little girls growing up thinking that it's 100% authentic wondering why they "cant look like that" or thinking "wow my skin is totally shit" when this isn't r e a l . Honestly i bought mine and i cant express how much i love mine. No im not sponsored. But for me tones were so exact it just looked like i had naturally perfect skin.

@@jssanchez87 i have dry skin and the foundation works great on me (I use a primer & moisturizer before putting it on.)
But my sister has suuuper dry skin and the foundation kept clumping up on hers no matter what we did. YMMV, I’d suggest just getting the trial and seeing if it works for u

I thought the same but figured I would order it since I could send it back if I didn't like it and I haven't been able to find a foundation with good coverage that didn't make my face look cakey. I seriously love it! It goes on so smooth and feels like you have nothing on your face.

Saaaaameeee. I actually unsubscribed THREE TIMES to their marketing emails and sti continued to receive them.. And I mean like 7 emails a day.
I ended up having to email their customer service telling them that technically under the data protection act they were breaking the law and that if they continued to send me unsolicited emails I'd report them.
They stopped Hahaha.
Really appreciate this video. When I consider products I always read the negative views as well as positive to get a more balanced perspective - but on their link they don’t show any negative reviews. This made me suspicious. I appreciate this review so much. I have dry to normal skin and I've been tempted by the ads but seeing the close ups in this video (again, hugely appreciated because other people don't do that, especially in good lighting) I know damn well my skin would look like the walls of an abandoned castle with this foundation.

Yes, Latasha, try it. This might be a product for girls with color. I enjoyed the coverage. First, she didn't prime her face the first time and her color choice is wrong for her complexion and made her look like a ghost. I don't think her review is honest because she piled the foundation on her face to make it look bad. An experience reviewer knows how to get a lot of reviews for coins. There are plenty of youtube reviews about the product and they show you how to apply the makeup

Thank you for your review. The most honest and legit review I've come across. You're right, it doesn't look natural. I'll continue to stick with my Bare Minerals that I have been using for over 10 years. Just wish Bare Minerals had more shades as the closest I can find is close, but not perfect.

I really like this foundation. I have found that less is more with regards to this product. I use 2 pumps for my whole face and apply with a brush. The instructions also say to let it sit before applying the rest of your makeup. I also have 53 yr old mature skin. Lol
Yeah this girl clearly doesn’t know how to apply foundation - she uses far too much and cakes it on and then complains its cakey!
She also RUBS the foundation on with the brush. From what I’m aware, rubbing in circular motions actually isn’t the best way to be applying foundation especially if you’re looking for full coverage. That motion would give me flakes and streaky application.
You posted this video 4 years ago but the IL Makiage ads are now on Snapchat, you can’t escape them! So I clicked on it and went to the reviews then filtered to the lowest rating ones and they all shared your sentiment. Even if it was bots typing the bad reviews, they know exactly what REAL customers are saying. Unfortunately, your experience was mine as well. Outside of it being a great match out of the box, because I’m an oily girl, it wasn’t matte from the jump and I looked hella dewy and greasy. I washed it off and returned it.
I honestly have had better luck with my fav $10 foundation, Covergirl Outlast Extreme Wear 3-in-1 Foundation. It’s a 24 hour full coverage formula AND has SPF 18! Lol I will fall asleep in that and wake up flawless. Everytime I wear the foundation I get so many compliments on how good my skin looks! I’ll be very sad when they stop that line or stop making my shade 😭

The Curly Girl Method is an approach to hair care designed for naturally curly hair that has not been chemically relaxed. It is similar to the "no poo" method in that it discourages the use of shampoo. Doubt it would work on hair that's not full kinky/coily curly. I've seen multiple people with weak curls say it doesn't work for them.

The reviews made this seem like the perfect foundation for everything but I guess that’s what ads do 😂 Was waiting to see how this actually was from a reputable source. My face is a Sahara desert so this foundation is a no go if it’s looking cakey on any dry spots.

Same. I’m not much into makeup, but after trying their foundation, I’m willing to try more of their products. I only needed a little bit and noticed it gave me a natural blush to my cheeks as well.

I think this definitely does depend on the different chemical makeup of the foundation, concealer, and primer. Even hyrulonic acid and other anti aging additives can cause problems with some liquid foundations. I just and sticking to lotion and then BB cream at this point. $44 is just too much for the oz of this make up and how fickle it is.
Same. Not only that but their customer service is PHENOMENAL. I got the foundation with their try before you buy program, and they also sent me a free eyeliner. The try before you buy is you only pay shipping at first, and if you don’t like it, send it back within 14 days, and you won’t be charged. If you keep it past 2 weeks they charge your card. The shade was a tiny bit dark, so I was going to return it, but I forgot and finally remembered on my 14th day, which was Christmas. I emailed them to tell them I wanted to return it but the shipping places were closed. They responded within an hour...ON CHRISTMAS... and told me not to worry about it. They said to keep it, no charge. That was enough to impress me, but then, 3 days later, I get an email from them saying they were so sorry I wasn’t happy with my order and gave me a $50 gift card to their site! Not a lot of companies that committed to ensuring their customers are happy. I will definitely be buying from them in the future.
The fact that they are giving gift cards, for almost free makeup. Why not? I’m on my husbands account, but I like my foundation watery and lightweight. I have thicker skin and a lot of small hairs so thicker foundation is just a no for me. This is so much better than a lot of products at Sephora for me personally.

I tried this Instagram sensation and it was sooo dry on me I looked like a creature from Tales from the Crypt! Lol a total fail for dry skin.
Try using a hydrating primer underneath. I have dry/combo skin and primer and setting sprays I used make it look so good! I use Wet n Wild 3 in 1 spray and follow up with Milani make it last setting spray. Looks amazing!
Anna M Goldberg I know 12 people who aren’t social media liars to be paid and on pr list who got this And I used this as well and I hated it! My skin was so d**n dry. I peeped my skin I used a moisturizer and primer I even used double moisturizer and it was awful I gave it the benefit of a doubt with my sister as well and three of my friends tried it 5 more day’s and it was just ridiculously and awful. It has nothing to do with peoples skin or prep it’s the foundation nobody should ever have to do that much for a $44 foundation. Girl go get some kat bon d lock it or some fenty and be careful a lot of these people who comment and or make videos are paid by the company to do so. I’ve never had problems with kat von d. I have dry skin so other then the normal things. But this foundation got sent back by all of us it was horrible.

My skin is also pretty dry during winter. Hydrating primer works great under it. That is also my opinion. I don't need anyone trying to say that I am a social media liar. The fact that you even posted that stupid comment is offensive to me.

But I have dry skin, and it's winter in Colorado so I need all the help I can get. I also question their shade matching since Cassie is using 020, and they matched me for 040. Thanks again though 🤗

I know this is an older post but I just wanted to say I appreciate this so much, I really need to see what things look like applied over picked blemishes because I have anxiety and a skin-picking disorder. It's great to see an honest review! I love my il makiage foundation and I also have oily skin, but I use a mattifying primer and lots of setting powder so that helps a lot.
It’s not a magic Serum🤷🏻♀️ take care of your skin first

First time I’ve seen a good review, a real look of the foundation in close up. Well done.
I’ve been watching you for years and I get the feeling you can be little heavy handed with both concealer and foundation. And that can really screw things up with longevity and look on the skin. Maybe try using foundation first and then concealer so that way I think you’ll need way less of both. I know you’re concealer first kinda girl, but maybe give it a go :)

Angel Reyes yeah, but not on everyone. The oil on the skin pushes up the foundation and it starts to slide. Also, in my opinion, and I don’t mean in drag or stage makeup, but the heavier the layer, the less it lasts, especially on oily skin.
It actually looks good on me. I applied with a foundation brush then used concealer where needed and powdered IMMEDIATELY. And I have OILY skin and surprisingly this didn't look bad. I also set with a setting spray.

Great review, I tried this foundation also and was highly disappointed. I really wanted it to work like in the commercials. I bought their primer that they suggested when I ordered my foundation and I couldn’t get it to blend. The foundation looked like it had swirls on my skin, used a brush, beauty blender and my hands. It was cakey, and unbeknownst to me when I took my glasses off there was sooo much on my glasses none on my nose around my mouth was dry, and any fine lines were amplified ten fold. Their customer service was great though. Thank you for the review. I waited to long to return it so now it just sits on the counter.
Try wetting your beauty blender and dab it on your face. It is a true game changer. The beauty guru Wayne Goss started this technique. It has helped my foundation from being cakey.
You should review the wet and wild photo focus dewy foundation! I love that foundation! :)

Their eye primer is my HG. Been using it for 5yrs. I have oily lids and sensitive skin/eyes. Doesnt break me out, no teary eyes, and eye shadow stays on!

This is the best, most honest Il Makiage foundation review I had watched. The other ones I watched sound exaggerated and over rated, even though I can clearly see that the shade doesn't match, the creator would still act it matches. Oh I love you!

Me too! I got it last week. I love it so far but I'm dealing with a lot of dryness around my chin area so it doesn't look so great there.
I tried to do the trial and they ended up ONLY sending the primer. Granted.. they did give me a $50 gift card for the mistake but I don’t see the point now. Also, is there a foundation that you can wipe with your finger and it doesn’t come off? I don’t get that test..

Ok so I am only an hour in to this foundation, but I am actually loving it. It feels light to me, not oily at all actually, matches perfectly (I was skeptical bc I only did the online quiz and thought the reco would be too dark). Will update if I find different results after long wear.
