Hello, my truck AC is working nicely, however a few weeks ago the AC would intermittently come from the front vents and then return to the defrost vents and back and forth. A few days ago it has stayed stuck blowing the cold air through the top defrost vents. I also have an evap leak code, would both of these have to do with each other?
Was this after replacing the blend door actuator?
@@diydevin i didn’t replace this part because it was still working, the blend actuator will rotate as I switch from cold to hot on the knob on the dash.
It’s likely still the blend door actuator that needs to be replaced. I had an f150 last year that was doing the same thing your truck is doing now. The blend door actuator moved with the nob but was still not fully functional. Once I swapped the blend door actuator it fixed the issue.
@@diydevin i think it might be different problems. My blend door actuator still lets me get hot and cold air. I thought this was the actuator for the defrost and front vents, but that is another part that works through a vacuum line.
Could a intermittent ac not working be a possibility for this failed part?
I recently changed ac compressor and did a proper recover and charge on Freon.
It was working great and randomly began blowing hot air, the next day it was back to blowing cold air, again intermittently going hot
Yes that could very easily be the case. If the blend door actuator isn’t closing or opening properly then you can have inconsistent temperature through the vents.
My AC is blowing through defrost on my 2006 6.0. Besides a vacuum leak. Can this be a potential problem for that?
Yes, very likely! That is what this truck was doing before I changed it. Make sure to have your dial turned to defrost before changing it otherwise it will mess up your controls.
@diydevin Ok awesome. I'll order a OEM replacement and give it a shot. Thanks for replying
Hi! I’m seeing options for ordering an auto or manual actuator, which would I need to order?
It should be an actuator for a manual temperature control.
Is it needed to be calibrated?
Yes and no, figure out what way the air is blowing, for example if it’s blowing at just your feet put the dial to the feet setting and then install the blend door actuator.
@@diydevin is air flow direction depend of blend door?
Yes it is.
Is this also for the 1999 Ford Expedition??
It is not, unfortunately the actuator on the expedition of that year is under the center dash rather than behind the glove box.
@@diydevin Thank you
What were your symptoms making you replace this?
@mikemoler349 well although I changed to AC, it keeps blowing hot air, and now it does not blow any air except defrost in front counsel
@@mikemoler349 Back counsel if fine no issues
