Good job on vids brother.. very clear concise & educational. I have bbk under drive pulley parts lined up & am considering doing a 75mm throttle body. I use all synthetic fluids.. mobile 1.
I say considering a lot on some parts because I am very meticulous and take my time on choosing mods for my project as I can tell you have obviously done your research as well instead of just throwing on aftermarket performance parts and expecting the hyped up gains advertised ;)
I have no true desire to do Dyno tests but in modest consideration I'm guessing I've gained 15-25hp with flowmaster cat back, rear cat delete, weapon x coil on plugs, gotts mod, synthetic fluids, k&n drop in. I'm expecting to gain 20-25hp above that with custom tune, shorties headers, under drive pulleys, 75 mm. throttle body.
My performance plans are more focused on the under drives, custom tune, oil catch can & a near future 4.10 rear gear change from oem 3.55's.
So to finally get to my question haha.. in changing your stock throttle body, did u as well over stock size your maf to maybe a 80 mm. ? & Have u increased your fuel injectors to like 24lbs to compensate for hp gains over 304hp if you've achieved that?
I'm trying to make sure all of my mods coexist & enhance well together.

Good questions. So far, since I am stock internal, I've not run out of fuel. I keep an eye on the fuel trims when I am driving and they stay very close to 0. This much better than prior to my custom tune. I need to do more research on your topic, but I guess there is alot of room with the current fuel delivery when only doing bolt-on mods (no blowers / turbos). The throttle response, drivability and general enjoyment driving this vehicle is amazing now. Love it... I have 3.55's... been considering doing a gear change as well, but it runs so damn good now... I keep asking why?

Yep I've got 3.55 now but I sure like my torque!
I've read a while back, there is a basic formula used when reaching fuel delivery cap upon hp's in stock but I don't recall now. I do remember it being like 304 or 315 hp's though before need to go with larger maf & throttle body. I'm likely hitting about 300 hp. now.
Honestly the two best things I have done is a Cat-Back system 2.50 inch and rear cat delete. I'm running a sido with a flow super 10. Would really love to do a stage 1 or possibly stage 2 cam but not wanting to go into the engine unless have to.

The intake on these truck are a true cool air system from the factory the inlet is inside of the driver side fender pulling air from the wheel well. Putting an aftermarket system like this usually decreases performance because the air inside of the engine bay is much hotter and thinner than the air from the wheel well

@@DrivingIntelligence I had a 2005 Expedition which the previous owner had installed a K and N CAI. That truck's MPG ranged between 14 and 18 miles per gallon. I currently own a different 2005 Expedition that only gets between 10 and 12 MPG. My driving habits are the same. On the one I currently own I performed a complete timing job. The previous owner had ran the engine until the guides broke. In addition I replaced the plugs and coils, installed a new HP oil pump and water pump. Any idea as to why I'm getting such terrible gas mileage? Thanks.
Also I wouldn't classify either the K and N set up or the Volant set up in the same category with the 'OEM' cold air intake. What actually makes the difference is the placement of the air filter media. Its not an 'upgrade' or a 'modification' from stock, non CAI system, to a CAI system. It has to due more with air flow, volume and pressure modification.

With regard to cleaning, I say, if it runs good, don't mess with it. My only problem that may lead me to cleaning and rebuilding mine is the possibility of the injectors leaking slightly. I notice some difficulty restarting after having driven for a while. I smell fuel when it finally starts which tells me there may be fuel in the intake or cylinders because the injectors are not holding. I have a major project planned to fix leaking valve cover gaskets, replacing the timing sets and when I do all this, will clean and rebuild my injectors. @@DrivingIntelligence basically Ford designed (for these trucks) a system that uses engine coolant coming from the pipe that runs under your intake manifold to back of water pump, and T'd a smaller hose to go to a fitting that sits around the pcv valve, then runs to one side of the throttle body elbow port where your egr, fpr, and evap vacuum elbow is. But on those style elbows, the pcv valve vacuum hose T'd off and one vacuum hose ran normally to the back of the intake manifold and the other hose ran to that elbow port. This style elbow port also had the coolant fittings made into it. Where that one coolant line (from the pcv valve) connected to one side of the elbow port and then the other port on throttle body elbow, connected back into the coolant system. They had them mainly on the v6 but I don't remember what year the 5.4 and 4.6l got them. It's purpose was to keep sludge from building up in the actual pcv valve and in the throttle body elbow (it's called a plenum but gets confusing explaining that way) so that the ports didn't get blocked off and to minimize the risk of the pcv valve failing to exhaust the crank case gases. Some people don't like them and switch back to your style. I kind of support the purpose even though it doesn't seem to make a whole lot of difference.

@jackielyon87 why should a truck be inefficient, and why does Ford create a vehicle that can get better fuel economy with my aftermarket changes instead of building in these changes from the factory? I’m not into new vehicles. Definitely not worth the money, nor having to deal with modern poor quality hassles. This truck is rock solid with lots of potential.

The most important thing is gearing the rear differential to get better fuel economy because my diff is geared 3.26 or 3.06 or somthing my 01 f150 4.2 supercab gets 25mpg metric on the highway..... and I still have the stock radiator fan and the whole engine hasent been touched

    • @DrivingIntelligence

Thanks for the comment... and thoughts. Check out all my videos, I also talk about gearing. But I have to point out, there is a big difference between a 4.2 v6 and a 5.4 v8. Yours is supposed to get better fuel economy, mine was only supposed to get 16 mpg highway, so I think I did pretty good ;)

@@DrivingIntelligence yeah I've deffinitley seen the 4.2 get pretty good gas mileage but in town it suffers ull be lucky to get 16mpg. You did good with the 5.4 engin tho in town roughly it will get 12 mpg and on the highway they usually get 18 to 20 mpg as far as I've seen

@@DrivingIntelligence nice yeah the differential ratio is hit or miss depending on your driving. If you drive on the high way alot you will get better gas mileage with a lower number ratio. But with the 4.11 you will get up to speed faster and tow better and in town you will actually get better gas mileage with a 4.11 rather han a 3.26 etc. So meh lol it's a toss up but I would lean toward somthing like a 4.11 or closer to it
