Today marks the first day where you can go and get a shiny Celebi - this Pokemon has never been available before! By following this guide, you will be able to get the mythical Shiny Celebi for yourself in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon!

THANK YOU! It worked, and I found something else out, too: If the Pokémon which you turn into Celebi is already shiny, then the Celebi will automatically be shiny, too! I used the shiny Gyarados found in the Lake of Rage (I cloned it beforehand), and the Celebi came out shiny without even needing to do the second part of the video! Thanks for the guide!
Lily Kaur i used the same too to that red gyarados but it seems that my shiny celebi cant transfer to UMUS. Even at level 30 and move set Leer, Sweet Ascent, Swagger & Shadow Ball
@Freddy Beckett That's because your moveset is illegal. Celebi can't know Leer in Gen 2.

Glitches and exploits are all the same. If you use the date skip exploit in S/S I feel like this shouldn't bother you much. Although this is a step further it's still just glitches. As for cheating/hacking if you used an AR as a kid and don't care for them being used but care about hacked mons there's also something wrong there hah.

For Everyone who the glitch doesnt work... This is what i used for mine and what is the problem and you should fix it.
1 = Make sure all boxes are renamed correctly (happend to me aswell ;-;)
2 = Check the quagsire to be all right with Return as 1 move
3 = If the low level pokemon does not work then here is a trick
I tried out with all level 2-3-4 pokemon but none worked because it had to have id number 16
So catch yourself a pidgey and your ready to go!

ElectroBlastLuigi There are laws and rules in video games. Hacking is explicitly against the rules. Glitching is accomplished by manipulating the natural mechanics in game. And therefore, is technically legal.
+Big Z Tell that to the Void Glitch in Diamond and Pearl Pokémon obtained through that glitch cannot pass through the Poke Bank therefore illegal. Glitches are still a form of Cheating.... may not be as bad as using a cheating device and heck, some are fun to play around with.... but to claim that it's completely okay is not right. that's like playing a game where someone can use a glitch to be invincible and mow down everyone else or cause a total stalemate if a player on the other team does it too... x.x

Pokémon obtained by manipulating the game is not considered legit. You can't obtain those Pokémon during "normal" gameplay and these Pokémon were never intended to be able to obtain.
I have nothing against glitching tho. I do it too it's fun.
a Bear Yeah it kind of reminds me of the good old Action Replay days where you can use a Pokemon Modifier to find any Mon in the wild. It's fun but I personally won't use glitched Pokémon in an online battle.

it would be very important to state that this only works for the english version of the game. for other versions, you cant rename your boxes these ways becuse youre missing the special letters.

Even if he caught it in a GS ball, he could still cheat to make it shiny. I guess that would have only added what, like 2 days?

Did you have the game beat first before you did it? I've not beat it yet and I tried it out and idk if I'm just having bad luck with the low iv pokemon or if it is because I've not yet beat it.

I’m thinking y’all fucked up. I did it right the first time and yeah it was slow and glitchy until I saved and reset but then it was fine, but when I tried to make it shiny, Quagsire wasnt holding the Headbutt TM and all hell broke loose. I fixed that, tried again and it worked like a charm.
If the low level Pokemon doesn’t have the right value it will always put you in glitch hell.
My quagsire was in the third slot, so the entire color palette broke

Update: it worked! Was having problems at first, turns out my boxes were named incorrectly! Can’t believe this worked. I came into this expecting clickbait and I was never so glad to be wrong, good luck!

This still works 5 years later. I was looking around for what games would be useful to buy before the eShop closed on March 27th and saw this video. I bought silver and was able to move my shiny celebi all the way up to swsh. The screen after the coin glitch was different for me but as long as you save and restart the game it works. I'm going to play the game all the way to Ho-Oh and make all of those legendaries shiny. Thanks!
Hey does it matter what party member you have except quagsire when turning them shiny?
@@hedgeyplays just the slide Pokémon in slot 3. It took me a couple of tries to get one that worked. If your game restarts and you see a rainbow screen, it means your slide Pokémon doesn’t have the right stats.

Justin Anschuetz you can check the codes that are written on the boxes, and if your sure it fits then go catch another lower level pokemon on route 29
Justin Anschuetz second return needs to be thought to quaksire and headbutt needs to be given to him like an item. Then you also need to make sure that return is in the first moveslot, this is very important!

Also for any who are having trouble, I’d say the biggest thing to keep doing over is catching a new low level mon on Route 29. The values of the Pokémon really do make a difference of whether the game will crash and reset or if it will get you a Celebi. Just be patient and everything will fall into place. Good luck!

When I was little, I had Pokemon soul silver. My one friend had gotten a used copy of heart gold that had a ton of hacked Pokemon on it. One of them was a shiny celebi that she gave to me. I have lost that soul silver game since then and have anticipated a way to get shiny celebi. I am so happy that I was able to get one that isn't hacked!

The Celebi glitch worked perfectly for me without a single problem! I didn't realize I had to get the normal Celebi first before turning it shiny so I also got a shiny Doduo out of it :P
Only weird thing that happened to me was that I caught a lv. 28 Doduo for the Celebi sacrifice and oddly enough, when I did the step of dropping it in the Day Care and pick it up again, I didn't walk anywhere and Celebi, for some reason, grew 2 levels to lv. 30 with this step

Aw yeah this glitch is amazing. I love that the second half basically turns any pokemon shiny. As someone who has a full-time job and no free time for hours of soft resetting, this is such a great way to bulk up my shiny collection. I still wouldn't find it fair to trade them, though; private collection only!

After looking way too deep into this method I think it is safe to say there is only one way a shiny Celebi obtained this way could differ from a shiny Celebi obtained via the VC Crystal GS Ball encounter. VC Crystal Celebi receives the "fateful encounter" flag after being sent to the pokebank. It is unclear in this video if coin case Celebi also receives the fateful encounter flag. This video doesnt show the encounter information for shiny Celebi after it has been transferred to a gen 7 game. However it is very likely that any Celebi transferred from GSC receives the fateful encounter flag anyways.

This is a really cool glitch. -BUT wouldnt this result in a shiny celebi with an invalid IV build? The GS ball celebi in the 2018 VC release is set to have 5 perfect IVs and its not shiny locked. You can just soft reset the GS ball celebi until its shiny for a "legit" version...-
*edit* -Poke Transporter changes the IVs of any Celebi from GSC to have 5 perfect IV's. However Transported pokemon retain metadata identifying the game it was transferred from. Meaning if you Transport directly from Gold or Silver it will technically be an illegal encounter-
*edit* Origin Game meta data can be VC Silver or Gold legally AFTER depositing into bank. @quartz12321 points out a legal Celebi from VC Crystal can be traded to Gold or Silver and transfere to PokeBank from there

the only other problem besides the box names is to catch a different route 29 pokemon. I had the same problem and went to solve it on my own and that was it 😂😅
I've gone through about 3 dozen different low level Pokemon, I've checked and double checked my box names, slowly and carefully followed every step to checking the coin case, but it still won't work, my game crashes every time. Other people seem to have this problem, but fixed it with a new low level Pokemon, which I've tried...a lot....to no avail. Any idea on why it still won't work for me?

Today I learned that you can't have Bellsprout in your party while doing this unless Bellsprout is specifically the Pokémon that is being altered. It seems to confuse the game and screw up the glitch. I'm guessing it has to do with the use of Belsprout's cry within the glitch.
At least I know this is the case for the shiny glitch but it wouldn't be a stretch to assume it is also the case for the Celebi glitch since they use the same cry in the routine.
Why are there so many elitists about glitch Pokemon? Great if you want to get it your own way, but complaining about and belittling people over how they want to play their own game they paid money for is ridiculous.

Well, glitching is using the game only and hacking used outside sources, in my opinion glitching is fine/legit since its in game
depends, if they caught it with 5-6 IV's that I would be annoyed about, but if a hacked pokemon with low IV's turns upp, who cares really? it's not like it will be a problem then?

Whoever "liked" my comment, I realised I had made an error in one of the box names. I had written d instead of 'd. Correcting it let me turn it shiny.

Now I have the problem of I got to the point where your character is invisible and the menu is flickering and slow like in the video but when I check my first pokemon it's not a celebi. When I check my boxes a couple letters are gone and some have been replaced.
@@myth3171 That's okay. Try saving your game and resetting - it will bring your character back. At this point, your Pokemon will still not be visible as Celebi - it's typing, name, nickname, moves, everything will make it seem like nothing changed, but if you take it to a battle (like wild battle), you'll be able to see the Celebi.

Seems so much easier than other ones I've seen for Crystal, so that one can turn any Pokemon shiny, so I could just turn Ho-Oh, Snorlax, Kabuto, or whatever shiny and transfer it up, that's neat.

you neglected to mention that the low level pokemon may not always work for a number of reasons, and thats a pretty big thing to skip considering other sites reporting on how to do the coin case gitch specifically mention that this "slide pokemon" has to have high DVs as well as low friendship... and that it can take upwards of 20 slides to get one that works. otherwise, though, this video seems pretty solid and im excited to try this come sunday!

@@thatbeatsaberkid5564 I tried several different one low level pokemon before I found one with the right stats that worked. I don't remember which one final worked or its stats. It's all kind of random trial and error - at least it was for me.
This just illustrates how the company needs to get off their butts and release all the various mythical pokemons in later games. makes new events, do something like the wormholes. Just make the damn mythicals available for people who started late. Catch em all indeed.

They aren't going to do that because money. You want that precious mythical pokemon? You better buy the newest and greatest pokemon game on release day to take part in the event or else miss out forever. These events are nothing more than a marketing scheme to sell their games upon release.

IzZy-1337 Unfortunately, no. This glitch only works in the English copies of the game. The reason this glitch exists is because of a translation coding oversight.

Mine just resets every time, I've tried so many different low leveled pokemon
Double check the names of your boxes so that they match mine 100%. That usually causes the resetting problem.

I did some digging to see if you could do more with this glitch and apparently, the guy who discovered this glitch also has a video on using it to get a mew, same exact method as to how you get the Celebi. What makes it even more interesting is you can use the shiny box codes in the video to give yourself a shiny mew. He also has a video on changing the OT and trainer ID so that Pokémon transporter allows it into bank.

That is because there are multiple variations of the Coin Case glitch. The more popular one required PC items, which has a few people confused. I can assure you this method does not require PC items.

The reason the color pallet changes is because of your low level pokemon, you need a different one that has different stats to work

Fearseand my file went to hell so yeah.. When i try to press "continue" my screen turns White. But The New game oprion work perfect. The Sad thing id that i got all dogs, borh Ho-oh and lugia and much more..
Now I don't have to get it from an event ^^ never thought of the whole pokebank and other games!

my game restarted and when it started it was colored weird
That happened to me and I verified that I missed one in the boxes, I put a "d" instead of a " 'd " and made my game weird colors. Another thing is the coin case, you need to be careful, if you click more times you should it glitches out and doesn't work (at least didn't for me). Once it appears "Holds 9.999...." you should not click and exit out. Idk if I'm 100% correct but try.

HuzzBon Have you tried using a female level six hoppip as the low level pokemon ? And the pokemon you want to transform into celebi should also be low level. At least this worked for me
The game thinks it's being played on the gameboy, not the gameboy color, so the colors look weirder in result of this.

Robbe van der Hoek catch another low lvl pokemon, that will work! The dvs needs to be really low, the one you have is to high
Have you tried using a female level six hoppip as the low level pokemon ? And the pokemon you want to transform into celebi should also be low level. At least this worked for me
I did it with a lvl 3 hoothoot and a lvl 32 onix, it worked
To make sure it worked, don't actually check the pokemon by looking at it in your party, enter a battle. I was dumb and kept thinking it didn't work when it did
I was watching this video while playing Pokemon Gold, got distracted with what you were saying and I look back at my 3DS to see a shiny zubat. I'm not even mad it's a zubat! I just started a new game an hour ago. Thanks for the shiny luck!
