- Welcome to Logan's World! Inquisitor Toulon Hess finds himself with ten days clear of Warp Storms to bring order and justice to the lost planet of Logan's World. Setting down in the settlement of Helsreach the Imperial Inquisitor brokers information from a local contact, but the deal goes south almost immediately when the same information is sold to the Prophet Barry and his Chaos Cultists!
Join us as we kick off this ten game mini-campaign set in the Grim Darkness of gaming thirty years ago in our STARGRAVE: Rogue Trader campaign.

Are we all just going to ignore the fact that Owen brought a Dreadnought to a knife fight? It's just standing there, being all menacing... waiting...
First two minutes: Ash explains why WH40K used to be awesome. :D I'm going to try to work the phrase "back when it was less demony" into casual conversation now.
It was more Reavery and less Demony :)
And Skyboards!
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames Yes! And punk. And space marines hanging out at the cantina.
even if you like the demony stuff realms of chaos was in that era you know. and its still better than any chaos stuff since
honestly I just wish the space marines where mostly chaos and the guard had to deal with em’ (would be nice if they also develloped the minor chaps gods to go along with them)
This is what I hoping killteam was gonna be more like.
Exactly my thoughts as well.
Play Heralds of Ruin you won't regret it.
@@willnox1 creators of that got incredibly woke. I try to avoid it
@@Dimes607 Wait really where? Lol I don't check there social media.
@@willnox1 they posted a big long thing awhile back on their Facebook account and it blew up. Caused a big fight in the community and divided it pretty heavy. I stay away from them
That looked exactly like what I expected. Two very different approaches to gangs. While 5 chaos space marines might sound powerful they would cost 250 per game to run.
Came for the stargrave, hung around for the rogue trader game that threatened to break out
God I miss miniatures like that. It's one reason I love Relicblade - so much character in the miniatures themselves. Privateer Press still hits that note, sometimes.
That looked like a game result that wasn't preordained in the army list stage, that played pretty fast and that had a lot of thematic bells and whistles: my ideal game in other words.
I'm looking forward to more GMG Stargrave.
I love those mission generator tables from Rogue Trader!
It's not 40K unless it has Abdul Goldberg!!
So great seeing these old models. I look forward to seeing the Styrofoam balls with toothpicks in them make an appearance!
Those will be for 2nd Edition! Rogue Trader was all about the Lichen and Zoids! :D
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames So... when will we see the dreaded Zoidlichen then?!
Hahahah YES!!! And some painted cardboard toilet paper rolls with straws glued to them as industrial cooling tanks
And a zoat! And Slaan warbands! And the kidney bean dreadnought, or can't you use a robot that big? Original terminators.... I think one went at auction recently for £2,000. I actually still have my Rogue Trader assassin, and a space marine chaplain with bolt pistol and chainsword. (I use him as an Inquisitor now, and on very rare occasions I get out 'Snake Eyes' and field him as whichever one I feel like.) Wish I could find my Imperial Army jetbike...
Super excited for this game, already got some space dwarves and lizardmen on the way for this game
Awesome stuff. Love the old minis, with those classic looks. Feels like an old Paul Bonner drawing.
love that play mat...
That was great fun; especially the wave of renegades turning up to investigate the commotion, and driving Owen's Chaos Crew out of town.
I can hardily contain my excitement.... so excited!
I see Owen with the multiple Starship Troopers references.
So Starship Troopers Miniatures game when?
See, this makes it look a lot more fun than the batrep I had seen previously on another channel. The idea is growing on me, especially with the low cost of entry (particularly because I don't have to buy new minis - but we all know I will, especially with the cross-compatibility amongst North Star's other kits, I will probably spend ridiculous sums).
Yes! I've been waiting for this since your review of the book!
I love this setting, very happy
Lovely, lovely rogue trader warband, Ash! Thanks for the great video. I'm going to pick up Stargrave once it's out.
Cool. I might have to look into this game after all - you made it look like a lot of fun!
On this episode: can Owen munchkin another Joe McCullough game into oblivion?
I don't think Owen Munchkins games, (whatever that is). He picks things that game designers have allowed for in their game design. Staking combat buffs on your wizard is still a relatively good strategy although nothing stops you dying to a crit like happened to my wizard recently.
@@johntailby74 Trying to do the most optimized thing the rules allow for is pretty much the definition of munchkinry. (Going outside the rules isn't being a munchkin, it's cheating.) For what it's worth I don't think munchkins are inherently bad; they're great at stress-testing systems, for one thing. But based on what I've seen, Owen very much qualifies as one.
@@johnkidby7948 power gamer is a much easier to convey term. And Ash even joked about his mega death wizard in the review, it's an open joke :P
I was looking forward to this and was not disappointed. That looks like a lot of fun.
In fair Helsreach, we lay our scene...
Lovely game!
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny.
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean!
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames Stop right there or you'll get the Slanneshi cultists all excited. You know how they are about loins, fatal or otherwise.
Fantastic! So excited to give this a go next week - got everything painted up already, which is a first for me with a new ruleset. I'm sure I'll discover that I actually need to buy a bunch more stuff mind...
The most dangerous prey of all...Barry the Wizard🤣
Love it👌
I had a Zombie figure in 1st edition Necromunda called Clive the Zombie😂
YES! Ash I’ve been waiting on this! Thanks man!
Was curious about this one, thinking of picking it up. Thanks for the demo!
That was an absolutely crazy game!
An Inquisitors work is never done.
Squats have been around all this time, the Imperium just couldn’t see them through the Eye’s interference
Been waiting for this!
Being sick led me to not realize that this is Frostgrave but in Space instead of some crazy actual Rogue Trader esque RPG miniatures skirmish game for nearly half of the video.
Oh this looks way too fun! cant wait for the book to finally drop.
I'm so looking forward to getting my copy!
Owens minis are painted black and red. Who could have guessed lol. Keep up the great work boyz.
That was interesting! I like it.
Great game Ash, and finally Rogue Trader woot
Sweet!
water merchants? how dystopian. *Warlord Dasani laughs in verisimilitude*
Always wondered what became of Brock after _Breaking Bad_ ended. Nice to see he made something of himself.
Sure as hell, its a lot of rolling those d20s:_)
we called the old Assassin "Bob" 8)
I had that Chaplin got it in a joblot, thought it was just an old commissar model. Sold it for a couple of quid, hopefully it isn't valuable
Good stuff Ash. I too am going to get out my Rogue Trader minis for StarGrave. Heck I may even do some games with the RT rules.
Me too!
Deep cut: you should have named this town Ulence Flats.
Those sweet accessories ;-). Glad to see you got a game in with all the lockdowns.
Sunday!
I just got my ESCTA accessories from Schooner Labs and they are amazing. Really excited for these tokens as well. Looking forward to Sunday and to do more shopping at the Schooner Labs store.
@@joewood2939 Thanks for the kind words, glad they met expectations. Stargrave items should hopefully start going up this weekend along with Cursed City as well.
ZoeTheRobot approves of this video
Great video and nice battle mat. Where did you get that from?
Wonderful stuff where are the buildings from if I can ask?
UrbanMatz!
4:05 - that's a old-school RT Commissar.
Get a rotating plinth so we can get some better mini looks when you are telling us about your lists! Cmon Ashe you scrub, we wanna see your minis!
It may have been mentioned below, but where are the acrylic templates from? I know the range ruler is on your store but didn't know about the cone and blast circles. Thanks!
Schooner Labs should have them in their store on the weekend!
Coming soon. Been waiting for the play-through before I started adding them to the shop.
What is your dice tray? Is it a picture frame with glass? Love the sound. Lol
Just plastic shelf laminate over the print of the logo. My buddy Jay made it for me it’s great!
So, this feels like XCOM but as a tabletop game.
Is it any good?
do you prefer it to kill team? seems a lot more simple of a game.
Where did you find those wound dials? They look neat.
Schooner Labs!
Will be coming hopefully this weekend to the shop schoonerlabs.etsy.com
They are nice will definitely be keeping an eye out.
Ah! The question I came into the comments to ask!
Captain Toulon Hess....is this a puppetmaster reference?
Where can I buy the figures?
What size board this played on?
3x3!
Where you get those tokens?
Schooner Labs!
Where are those life trackers from?
Where are the tokens from? Sorry if asked already, did not see it.
Thanks!
Schooner Labs!
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames Thanks!
@@robertvaldes9 Will be going up on the Etsy shop this weekend, hopefully.
Ok, great, was not seeing them lol.
@@robertvaldes9 Been waiting for the release date to get a bit closer and for Ash to get a chance to play through first in case they needed any changes but looks like we are good to go.
Does the core book include solo rules? I got into Frostgrave just early last year when the pandemic hit so I haven't been able to play yet and I had a tableful of models and terrain (I do use them for Rangers of Shadow Deep though thankfully) and as I already own minis for 40K this interests me quite a lot
I might be wrong, but I’m fairly certain that the solo rules are going to come in the first supplement, Quarantine 37. I may have been misinformed but that’s my understanding
Also this! therenaissancetroll.blogspot.com/2021/03/stargrave-dead-or-alive-free-mini.html?m=1
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames This is what I was thinking of, my mistake
If you're looking for a great (!) solo skirmish game check out 5 parsecs from home (3rd ed) which is currently on preorder.
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames Thank you as always for taking the time to help my good sir!
I'm trying to find a copy of Rogue Trader, actually. My kids want to play it. Probably all of once. My copy had super glue spilled on a page, it looks like, and closed on that.... the only casualties were the page on reserve moves and the page on psychology directly across from it. Although I can still read most of the psychology page.
Brother Vermillion? The guy getting blown away by Sister Sin?
Hey, does anyone know the name of the Space Marine Chaplain that was featured in the Space War combat cards? Mine have gone missing, I remember it was Brother Reuben something. I'm recreating him. Have all the bits to do it (over the years the SM01 boxes have gotten mixed around, lost, found, repainted, etc.) except I'm trying to find a book the right size.
What is the Warhammer book you are using?
Warhammer 40000: Rogue Trader
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames original or republished from early 2000s?
cannot move after doing any action other than move. Move is always first , if you intend to move.
I have some of those 30-year-old models and they are still unpainted, LOL
Are all the games played on this channel D6 based?
Not at all. This game is entirely D20 for instance. I’d say less than half the game’s I’ve played on here are D6 based
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames Wow. You answered. Hey, while I have you, cool show. Big fan of the Warhammer AOS vids.
Thanks so much!
You didn't actually mention how you win the campaign...
It's Rogue Trader... But it's not... o.O
Rigged...how does the squat die? It’s like a 90s horror movie.
I am confused. I thought this was supposed to be SciFi, why is there a wizard? Is this just fantasy with guns or am I missing something? I get that they can play the same, but I'm not sure what stargrave is now.
Specifically how they chose to "flavor" the abilities the "Wizard" has since they're using 40k as the base setting for it since Star Grave could be put into any they feel like. And 40k is sci-fi, bit there's some strange magic type stuff still going on.
That green clad veteran is actually an Imperial Guard Commissar that came in a pack of three, not a chaplain.. but you know that.. was this a test to see if we're paying attention? .. nice try Ash.
Says Chaplain on his Tab lol... I’ve got Commissars from the same era that say so! It’s just a term relic really but this fella is from when things like that would change all the time.
You’re both right of course - Mark Copplestone made a couple of figures originally labeled “Chaplain” that became the first commissars without changing the tabs
What's the point of that dice tray it you just yet it over the small wall anyway hahahahahaha
I love the batreps but he speaks so quickly I cant understand him.
As a non native English speaker, your videos are very hard to understand... I mean I watch all my videos on UA-cam in English but you are the one I can’t understand or one word of three, maybe you are too fast or it’s your accent I don’t know but it’s very sad cause a lots of videos interesting me
same here :(
Every game is better in 40k eh?
Except this isn’t 40K... it’s ROGUE TRADER! :)
Not sure what your getting at? Suppose you can set it anywhere, but GW stuff gets the most views, true story😁 Me I watched cos it was GM/Stargrave😊 really feeling the hate for GW at the moment. Saying that the hobby sucks bum also, in general. I'll reword that Hobby companies suck bum.
@@andrewnoble8743 FYI Rogue trader and modern 40k are sooooo far apart from each other they basically aren't even the same universe. So I wouldn't compare the two.
take off the NPC mask so we can understand you, and also not disidentify with you as non NPC's.
