    I’m glad you mentioned core space. I was thinking that would be one of the best options for a ready to go crew and terrain set. Also I am a huge fan of using new rules for older minis / games to give them new life

    • @morehammer
      @morehammer  3 роки тому

      Yes totally agree. And yes figured core space would be a perfect suggestion!

    If you want to play in a smaller scale 15mm there's loads of sci fi minatures and it's cheap as chips khurasan minatures and Ground zero games both excellent detail.

    • @morehammer
      @morehammer  3 роки тому +5

      This is a really cool idea too, and you are right it’d be far cheaper too. Plus you could use a smaller tabletop! Good call Black Knight!

      Haven't yet got miniatures from khurasan but I can say alternative armies had some great 15mm! Including a great starter set for patrol Angis.

    Infinity miniatures are perfect too. I'm really looking forward to this game.

    I will use star wars legion miniatures. And I think we might use stargrave for our necromunda minis as well!

    Really hoping I can get my group into some of these games that let you just pick any minis you like. I have a bunch that have no home.

    Thanks for the information on this. Very helpful can't wait to play it. Also Mantic Games have sci-fi model's and a old company called I KORE and Urban Mammoth miniatures have sci-fi model's that are heroic scale and have unique looks.

    Your suggestions are all quite amazing really. So ty. Im basically reusing a pile of 40k imperial guard/storm troopers/chaos cultists even Eldar for the different crews. Might even use some other similar things like Genestealer cultists etc.

    My local group is going to run a massive campaign using Stargrave and Warhammer 40k every other week with Stargrave being the "black ops" missions and 40k being the large pitched battles. Just need everyone to get their shots and make sure the Covid regulations are good.

    Let me add the obvious: warhammer 40k.
    Exactly the reason im looking forward to this game. My 40k minis with a d20 system

    I picked up the Deadly sEven and Wayward Eight boxes from Wild West Exodus to build a Firefly-themed crew, but I also picked up a sprue each of Stargrave Crew, Troopers and Mercs, as well as a sprue of Raumjager Infantry and Eisenkern Stormtroopers from Wargames Atlantic.
    As Jayne Cobb said: "I get kind of excitable as to choice... like to keep my options open."

    Games that are miniature range agnostic are a great win for me and if the rules are as nice as the refined version of Frostgrave we got last year we're in for a treat. As far as minis go, I'll add the Rebels from Star Wars Legion into the mix, the pathfinders even have a couple of aliens, Imperial Stormtroopers anyone?

    • @morehammer
      @morehammer  3 роки тому

      Great suggestion Joe. I’d actually love to do a pure Star Wars/Stargrave campaign! And yes I love those games too.

    I just noticed, when looking for scifi characters to print, that Loot Studios has stats for all their monsters and opponents. The miniatures look great and that they might work for Stargrave, Core Space, etc. I am new to tabletop gaming, fwiw.

  • @JarottM

    I would also add miniatures from Mutant Chronicles:WARZONE. its older game but minis are still around and they're relatively cheap now . Id also add REAPER miniatures. Very easy on the wallet! In terms of terrain , look up Tinkerturf. Easy to build , affordable lightweight terrain.

    Great video! I think I may have most of the minis covered thanks to various board games I have. For the peeks I have seen on reddit of the bestiary i think Mansions of Madness and it's expansions cover a lot like the sewer dragon, bile worms, tangler, warp hounds, gaunch, ruffians and ryakan. For robots I did pick up a Core Space Purge booster. great little models and I love the leader who looks like a great psionic alien. There is an old war game called Abaddon that has a crap ton of beefy mech minis if you wanted very intimidating robots. it rages from 20-45 usd on Amazon. I think any sci fi dungeon crawl would help too. the only kickstarter I backed is finally arriving: Siege of the Citadel 2nd ed. all of the doom troopers in that would make Great crew, along with some of the baddies. and many of the baddies would also make, well, good baddies, lol. I can imagine games like Zombicide invader and Deep Madness might have quite a few useable figs. plus a lot of board games use 12 inch by 12 inch tiles. enough of them and you have a pretty well decorated play space. wow, i wrote a block of text. sorry about that!

    • @morehammer
      @morehammer  3 роки тому

      No worries. Yeh some good suggestions there. Glad you’ve got the models covered. We shall be using a good mix too! And thank you glad you liked the video!

    Know you’re leaning into other games atm but when you have time in your content schedule would be great to get more content on Stargrave. It’s one of your highest viewed videos recently and there’s very few content creators following it. Quarantine 37 recently released and there’s the sequel core expansion due mid-2022. If you want to steer clear of BatReps there’s lots to cover in terms of commentary towards Backgrounds, Powers, Upgrades, Equipment, Levelling, Loot, etc. You could cut these down into smaller videos of 5-8mins, focusing on performance insights and or narrative focused combinations ie this is what a Star Lord/Iron Man/Han Solo/Alice (Resident Evil)/etc might look like from a Background, Powers, Equipment, and play style perspective.

    So is it a skirmish game with one side as a crew leveling up against a different enemy?

    • @morehammer
      @morehammer  2 роки тому

      It’s a game where rival crews fight over loot and other objectives and sometimes the local fauna or security AI of a mission.

    How does this game compare to Kill Team in terms of complexity? I love Kill Team but it's such a complex games, sometimes needlessly. I was wondering if Stargrave/Frostgrave is more streamlined

    • @morehammer
      @morehammer  3 роки тому +1

      If you play the pure game, Stargrave is much simpler. It’s if you obviously want to keep track of characters over a campaign that there’s more to remember with upgrades etc. But the core mechanics are very friendly! Hope this helps! 😊

    What about infinity miniatures..

    • @morehammer
      @morehammer  3 роки тому

      That’s another good one, although a lot of the infinity models would only really work for more heavily armoured models.

    • @parlindstrom6011
      @parlindstrom6011 3 роки тому

      Infinity actually have quite a lot of miniatures that have light or none armour. Depends a bit on which faction you look at.

      Northstar's Stargrave Trooper set of plastic miniatures includes female heads which you can use for the other 'official' sets.
