[S1] EPISODE 33: HOW READY ARE YOU FOR MARRIAGE?
In this episode, we dive into the privilege of intergenerational involvement in preparing young men for marriage. We discuss the importance of shaping boys early on, not just to find a wife, but to grow into husbands with a clear vision for their marriage. It’s not enough to look for a "modern" partner or a "traditional" role; husbands need wives who speak into their lives, offering wisdom and intellect that influence their growth as men. The first two years of marriage are critical, and too many husbands fail during this period due to uncommunicated expectations and a lack of preparation for the significant change a marriage brings.
Karabo Rasebitse touches on the reasons behind marital breakdowns, including the common focus on childhood traumas for infidelity. Men often lie to themselves about sex being purely physical, failing to realize the emotional weight it carries. A husband must take responsibility for his wife, setting boundaries in old friendships to protect his marriage, and learning to embrace vulnerability, despite how society has socialized men to repress emotions.
Marriage, as we uncover, is a beautiful chaos where two worlds collide to create something new. Husbands need to find solid male friendships to lean on during the journey, creating a support system of three to four men who can carry them through tough times and hold them accountable. This episode offers an honest look at how early grooming and intentional relationships can help men transition smoothly into the life-altering experience of marriage.

Enlightening. I am getting married in a week so I have been feeling anxious about this big step. I am in a space where I am acknowledging the fact that I do not have to have it all figured out but I know I will embrace the beautiful "mess" that is coming my way. Thanks gents, we grow because you've grown.

Mental health conversations between men are so important. So much worth in this convo! Too many men are suffering in silence. We don't need to talk about our feelings, but we just need safe spaces...

Agreed! There's definitely a need for safe spaces and to figure out right way to even approach the subject so men feeling okay with the discomfort of some of these tough chats. Praying we figure this thing out sooner rather than later.

Thank you for touching the infidelity issue. The emotional & spiritual implications can be deadly and passed on to your children . 😢😢😢 if you could go a little bit deeper in that space. Polygamy is just the survival of the fittest these days💔💔💔.

One can only hope that her future husband is overdosing on these episodes. Otherwise it will suck to do the work and get married to someone who hasn't. 😩🤦🏾‍♂️
Please if you can, make an episode on this and how women can see if someone has indeed done the work and vice versa. 🙏🏾

Sounds like you are a regular viewer so you probably have seen that all our guests so far are unfamiliar with book concept so Blaque has to explain it to the so they can answer. It may be repetitive to you cause you hear the same question every week.

Why is his worldview questionable to you as a Bible believing Christian? What is wrong with him mentioning our African ways and signalling out the significance of some of our practices e.g. Lekgotla.

You don't always need to share a worldview with someone to learn from them. You don't have to embrace their views as well...
      [I'm writing as a Christian]

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! I totally get where you're coming from as a Bible-believing Christian, and I want to acknowledge that it can be challenging when someone else's worldview feels out of sync with your own. Here's the thing, though-our worldview doesn't have to feel threatened just because someone else pulls from a different angle.
It's actually because we are a Bible-believing, Christ-honouring, sin-hating, and human-loving Christians that we must recognise that the fight to restore marriages will sometimes mean sitting across from people with different worldviews. We have to be willing to have honest conversations in front of a watching world, that is fading away.
Think about the core issues here: the plight of families and marriages in South Africa, especially within the African community. The guest you're disagreeing with might see things differently spiritually, but from the interview, you can hear that he cares deeply about these same challenges. He hates infidelity, he loves family and wants fathers to be present and active, particularly in raising boys. From human to Human, that sounds like a lot of common ground, doesn't it? And these are things we should be praying for ourselves, to see an increase of them, because all truly good, noble and praiseworthy things come from the Lord.
We can recognise God’s common grace working in people, even when they don’t believe what we believe. Surely we can be thankful to God that there are still men in this country who believe in the importance of husbands providing for their families, uplifting women in a society that often devalues them, and recognising how crucial marriage is.
So, let’s keep the conversation going with open hearts, seeking unity where God permits unity, and where He doesn’t, we likewise obey. Grace & Peace

@@blaquenubon We hear you Blaque, trust us, we're not trying to be Christians who want to be cynical towards others and our fight generally is to win the souls of the lost without ostracising their worldview. If the dude was purely talking from a psychologist stance, that would have been perfect. So much to learn there. But he was adamant about a foundation that can't be built on even though him and the rest of us share similar marital sentiments. This is very influential in the arena of the spirit. I personally love your content, but this was hard to stomach, though I tried to handpick the good stuff. I guess we're saved before we're married and many of us connect to this channel from a Christ stance first.
