LIVE in Michigan outdoor festival. Wolfman Jack introduced each band to 90,000 fans. First tour for opening band LRB. second band Nazareth. Third band Heart. Headliner Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band. I kid you not....Little River Band stole the show and I became a fan for life. Have seen them MANY times
When I was at Las Vegas Hilton this song flooded into my memories but I had not yet found my lady. Now 30 years later I have married and the lyrics resonate so powerfully in my heart remembering how lost I was in the 90s and how far I have come. When you find the perfect partner there are no regrets and absence makes the heart grow fonder. She is still with me after 25 years and we have the deepest love. I hope all who take time to read this will find true love. God bless.
This song brings back old memories from my high school days, early 1978. During an excursion week in Scheveningen (Holland) I met a really beautiful girl from Belgium. She was French-speaking and I was Dutch-speaking, the same age (18 yo). We had a wonderful evening and night together. She left for home, Brussels, the next day. Every time I hear this song 'Home on a Monday', I always think of that amorous night with that wonderful girl from Brussels, in 1978. Unfortunately, I have never seen her again since then.
How are you interpreting his body language as egotistic arrogance? What do you think, he struts around thinking he's so damned great it's impossible for him to be a bit off his game? To me his body language is saying "I'm really enjoying this and having a great time, and I'm thrilled to be sharing the moment with my bandmates.".
The way David Briggs works that custom volume knob for the pedal steel sounds is just genius. I guess I'm just an old cornball; where he sings about wanting to catch a glimpse of The Man From Memphis, I get a tear in my eye. Elvis had recently passed when Beeb Birtles wrote this song. The Hilton hadn't yet installed the statue and other Elvis tributes, so at the time, he was "gone, never leaving a trace."
I was one of he lucky ones, these guys were always on the radio, or in the car on tape. mid 70's through to early 80s was a great time to Be in Australia..
One of the greatest songs ever! "Can you guess where I'm calling from? The Las Vegas Hilton, I know it's hard to hear, it's just the echo on the line. Yes, that's right I'm calling from The Las Vegas Hilton, I just want to say that I'm feeling fine. I'll be home on a Monday, somewhere around noon, please don't be angry, I'll be back with you real soon. I was hoping to catch a glimpse, of the man from Memphis, they told me that he had gone, never leaving a trace. I just could never get involved with those one-armed bandits, sure am craving for the smile on your face. I'll be home on a Monday, somewhere around noon, please don't angry, I'll be back with you real soon, yeah. You looked so lovely when I left I nearly didn't go, twelve thousand miles is such a long way, help me get to grips with Hollywood, you're getting through to me, Hollywood, you're in my movie. I'll be home on a Monday, somewhere around noon, please don't be angry, I'll be back with you real soon. Can you guess where I'm calling from? Yes, that's right I'm calling from The Las Vegas Hilton".

How peacefully and calmly this music reflects this time. Harmonious beats and lively vocals. Everything is interwoven. Simply beautiful. And that's exactly what characterised LRB and made them stand out from other bands.
In my top-3 songs of ALL times! Solo David Briggs in my opinion best solo ever. What a nice technique and melodic treasure. Two lefthanders (Bass & Guitar) in one band, that's the secret! ;--). Still listening 2022.
The little river name was taken from a small town in West of Melbourne towards Geelong in Victoria, everytime this song is played it reminds me of my home town Point Cook close to Little River town....
Beautiful tune full of lush strings and stunning harmonies. Back when life was carefree….❤️ I always wonder what Glenn Shorrock is thinking as he looks to the camera at the end of the clip. Timeless.
Home On A Monday. The story of touring Aussie bands from the Seekers to Sherbet, Aussie Crawl and of course the fabulous, best ever Little River Band. Shorrock's singing was a big key
What a gorgeous sound, one that could have only come from LRB. We seldom hear orchestral strings in songs any more since keyboards and synths have pretty much taken over that role but it’s hard to duplicate that lush romantic sound. Stellar guitar work as well, that understated solo is so beautiful.
Remember being introduced to LRB's music back in the early 80's by a friend (she lent me a cassette tape lol)...I've always adored that guy's voice and their songs like "Fall from Paradise" and "Light of Day" really resonated with me.
the first album i bought when i was 14 years old i think for my mam her Birthday just by the cover i t tought looked funny She was so happy she loved this band 💜🙏
The simple fact that shadey managers and common criminals robbed the world of ever seeing this band play their songs as they were....a total criminal act.
@@J_S209 I agree, Glenn created the band name from good ol' Little River near Geelong, he is a legend, The Twighlights weren't a bad little band either also Axiom another good band. How they lost the rights to the band name amazes me, only in America.
I kinda assumed this was their "big hit" -- it definitely gets radio play in these parts. But apparently it was never even a single in the US or the UK! Was it a late-breaking radio hit, or just a local scheduler idiosyncrasy?
They were an amazing band, the original members ARE The Little River Band, the American group aren't The Little River Band they're just a cheap copy, they didn't even write the hits.....
One of the best bands of the 70's, actually one of the best ever.

And....takes a ton to beat Bob Seger in Michigan
The opening slide guitar and the solo are just brilliant. David Briggs is a master at matching a solo to the song.
WOOOOW!!!! what an amazing song.....
Aaah, wonderful. From the time when you couldn't tell if someone was 35 or 55.
😂
Yep and when you thought 35 was and old person.
Yes, the era when healthy food wasn't contaminated

I wish I could👐🏻
@@hendrik7781 The best memories of our wild youthful days....
Amazing 70s song. Glenn's delivery is excellent. His body language says "I got this". I love that

Aussie living in Germany...still loving this gem all these years later ❤🇦🇺💞🇩🇪
Love this song.Still sounds so good in 2024!
In the early 80s I was in Australia, listening to this on cassette player.. traveling around taking in the sites.. takes me back ✨💞
Best LRB line up right here,, awesome song and probably the greatest band to come out of Australia.
The lyrics are good but the music is something else, it feels monumental and like a watershed moment. Phenomenal 👍
Still a beautiful song in 2022
Love ❤️ my Aussie rock music 🎶 🎵 and my upbringing 70s andb80sv90s

Those songs never die. Such a sweet feeling.
Great memories from the 70s. Loved it ever since
Just a perfectly crafted song.
I love this song…a deeper cut from such a great band!

In my opinion this is up there with one of the best songs they wrote, melody and harmonies are simply outstanding.
Superb seventies classic rock!
Beatiful song the band Little River band

A great song!!
Surprised this isn't as well known as a lot of the other Little River Band songs - so melodic, love it

Beautiful melancholy love song. LRB came out with some really great songs.

Shorrock's singing was a big key
Really dig this song.. The intro in the guitar is awesome...
And the echo of those few lines "can you guess where I'm calling from ..." like a real long-distance phone call back in the day.

Quite right, as a guitarist I can tell you: it is brilliant, David Briggs so underrated, but no to me.

I don't think so. 01:59 "12,000 miles is such a long way" from Las Vegas. That's certainly not anywhere in the USA.
