    Clean, solid reps! I’m 58 years old, 5’ 11”/200lbs with a descent 6-pack. The burpee is my main exercise; preferably high pump reps. I also add in a lot of pull-ups, air squats and lungs. Strength training is done once or twice a week, which consists of heavy kettlebells and sandbags. Throw in a couple of long run/rucks each month and you’ve got a plan for optimal performance.

    Burpees are the only thing that consistently gets me to lose weight. This is good for being on the road, no gym and no videos. Never underestimate the power of the humble burpee. I never thought of no jump burpees. And I appreciate the part about whatever gets you to the goal number of reps and jogging or jumping jacks in between. I can't move my computer today to the spot I do my HIIT workout because of charger port problem. So today I'll try this. I usually do 180 pushups, set of 55 and then 20 with resistance and 220 burpies. This seems like a nice mix without all the joint stress. I don't know about doing 500 but I appreciate the honesty.

But you got them done so fast, there's no excuse for me not to do the same. BTW, in The Core we called this exercise Bend and Thrust (B&Ts).. I've never been much for the hop at the end truth be told. Not criticizing it. Just not what I "grew up" with. I also like the fact that the 100 B&Ts also means 100 Push ups. Keep the Moto coming.

    Also, with burpees, you can add a jump when you come up from the pushup position. Another good exercise for Abs is mountain climbers. I like to use a Bosu ball and rest my forearms on it as I do mountain climbers, to make my abs have to adjust for balance.

    Is there a purpose for the stomach punch at the top? I've seen other people do it, just wondering why...

    • @Jase9
      @Jase9 Рік тому +11

      Core Engagement: By forcefully contracting the abdominal muscles at the top of the burpee, individuals aim to strengthen their core. This can help improve stability, balance, and overall core strength, which is beneficial for various activities and sports.
      Increased Intensity: Adding the stomach punch can increase the overall intensity of the burpee. It requires extra effort and energy to perform this motion, making the exercise more challenging and helping to elevate the heart rate, which can be desirable for those seeking a more rigorous workout.
      Full-Body Engagement: While the traditional burpee already engages multiple muscle groups, the stomach punch adds an extra dimension of full-body engagement, making it a more comprehensive exercise.

      It's a prison thing. Supposed to get the core used to getting punched. I saw some videos on prison fitness and all those guys were saying that. Might not be true but it seems to be where it started.

    Hi, why you hit your stomach for every burpees? I see others doing that and I wonder why? Is there any purpose?

    • @deanfillery8652
      @deanfillery8652 9 місяців тому

      The stomach hit helps engage and tighten the core during the burpee. It also can help maintain a rhythm as well.

      The navy seals also hit their stomachs when they do burpees. Therefore, it is not merely a jail thing. Get informed before making comments or asking preposterous questions.

      @juancruz5132 with this being an open forum that left its questions open I can ask what the hell I want to ask and should be able to ask it with out som9ne trying to be condescending in the comment section. Watch your mouth, cuz!! HOW about that. And to me, whether it's the navy seals or not, I don't see the point of you tapping your stomach like that. It does what to your muscles? That Littleton does not build up anything and suits no purpose in the workout. It's not like a boxer where they are hit with signifcant force with a medicine ball or some of the fighting sports where they are struck to build up resistances and stamina..therfore I see and there is no scientific purpose of just lightly tapping your stomach at all. It builds WHAT Juan? Ya-ll keyboard warriors are funny as hell to me.
