Chris had more good ideas in 10 minutes than I've had in 15 years.
I empathise totally with this comment! Except in my case I'd extend it to 25 years!
Pop musicians could make an entire album of songs off 32 bars
But he took more than 15 years to reach this level of 'good ideas in 10 minutes'
@@AllvesGames OK, but I never said he didn't.
@@AllvesGames he was really good when he was young though
To be introduced as the greatest saxophonist in the world and then proceed somehow to make the introduction an understatement.
This went from being Chris Potter on Lingus to _Chris Potter's Lingus_ REAL quick
josiah566 completly
It will always be Cory’s though
True!
Hahahaha 100%
@@johnbensinger4931 I´m not sure wich solo is better tho... I´ll go with Chris in this one!
Forget Harry Potter. Chris Potter is the real wizard.
Bless you, sir.
Chris Potter and the Chamber Music of Secrets
Mustakrakish Chris Potter and the Composer of Askaban
Chris potter and the deadly solos part 1 and 2
yar a wizard chris
world's coolest accountant
Still can't decide if the smoke is from a machine or if Chris literally set the stage on fire.
Hahahaha
Was there. Wasn't clear. Epic gig.
It's amazing to think that the guy (Potter) is able to do this even being 100% deaf in one ear.
Irra LeRot he is?
@@ZeAlfredo Yeah, he lost it to Meniere's disease.
Even more amazing
Really? That is amazing. I,am too deaf on my left Ear. He can play on that Level 🙏😮
What!? Great. I bet he can still hear better than me LOL.
8:33 that line smacks so hard man, CP is a living legend
Amen to that
Agree with you!!
And he was disappointed with himself after shredding the shit out of it, lol.
6:50 Coltrane is back !
Bullock is like, I’m just gonna stand off stage so people don’t remember that I also play saxophone.
Okay,we've had Cory and Chris. Any other humans want to have a go??
Adam Neely has entered the chat
Are you implying that they are human?
I know he is not a jazz guitarist, but I would love to hear Guthrie Govan's improvisation on this. He is a monster player
Hamilton de holanda set fire to the bandolim at GroundUP
I imagine how Allan Holdsworth would have done it
8:48 that is an amazing respond
Even Reynolds felt that response, just look at him moving his knees while smiling!
Deja vu - Chris Bullock watching Chris Potter's solo in amazement in this video and Shaun Martin going crazy over Cory Henry's solo in the original video for Lingus.
Henry Meade hhhuhjh
.
Hhgggyg
I come back and watch this video every day AT LEAST once
Nick Urban well done he inspires my life
Me to. 😊
Same here
This would have to be one of the greatest moments in music history. Ever.
I think this will be his signature solo. What "Machine Gun" is to Hendrix, this may be to Potter.
For the first few seconds of his solo, I was terrified that I'd accidentally clicked on the Simon Fransman version again
Chills and tears. This is the power of masterful musicianship.
I can't believe I've not come across this video until now! I was there that night and the atmosphere was electric. The guy stood next to me spent most of the gig with his hands on his head in disbelief. Just fabulous!
He slayed it, buried it and mourned it. Brilliant.
Chris Potter playing the living F@$! out of Lingus
hehe I know... I'm a subscriber...
I love this video so much. I'm grateful these guys were able to collaborate, but my favorite part, aside from the virtuosity on display, is watching the Snarky Puppy guys' reactions during Potter's solo. Love how they're jamming out just as hard.
I love watching Chris Bullock - who you barely ever see reacting a lot to solos - just having his mind completely blown - so awesome!
8:33 minute lick is insane!
3:23 is just a small part of this entire solo but it's so clean. This is a dream come true. Always wanted Chris Potter to play with Snarky Puppy
Chris potter and the deadly solos
This is the greatest Sax solo I ever heard . Unbelievable
Holy Crap, that MotherPotter can play!!!
so who's gonna be the savior and transcribe this?
thank you so much omg!!!!
You're welcome
Whoa
Brilliant
julien M u crazy man, congrats and thank ya
Who's here after Fransman's recent upload?
He can really play, sounds solid, love that he plays the blues, you can hear a lot of influences and whatnot in his playing. I love how tight he is rhythmically with everything that he does. Best in the world? No.
Every time I hear him play I get this feeling that I don’t know what just happened. He’s transcendent.
Imagine the pressure of having micheal league calling you the best in the world
Alex K imagine the pressure of having one of the best saxophonists in the world play in your band
i'm pretty sure chris can handle it
@@gabrielb6942 one of the best musicians, IMHO.
Wrong way round mate!
Had a talk with Chris Potter once one on one and gassed him up similarly. Guy is super humble, nice and gave me very helpful advice.
The Idea that Potter just winged that solo blows my mind!!
this is STILL amazing. Can't imagine a better sax solo off of this chart. wow.
(kevin harlan voice): CHRIS POTTER IS A FLAMETHROWER!
I think about this solo everyday of my life
Yes
Funny, a lot of people never listen to jazz I guess, on these commentarys. 😄
The solo of Chris Potter is exceptionnal !
I was there, “magical” doesn’t do it justice, no words do it justice. Thanks so much for posting this so I can relive this incredible piece of jazz history and others can experience it too.
This should be breaking the internet...... Too good!
Thank you so much for this!
This one goes in music history for sure..
You know what...I actually prefer the room recording versions of this when you can hear the reverberations, the overtones, the harmonic mess and the crowds excitement. The Drums sounds so tame in this but in the "room recordings" it's sounds INTENSE!
Glad we have both!
Yeah I can't hear the overtones, just a sine wave all the way through
I am just flashed how good Chris is. Amazing.
Dang - just studying and replicating Chris's phrases could be my lessons for the next year...oh to be just 10% as good as him...this is one of the most epic sax solos I've ever seen....I love how he summarizes the performance...oh my God...what else can you say? I just transcribed one little phrase he had - the muted tonguing thing and it's just brilliant.
There’s an Irish airline called Aer Lingus. I’m not sure how many metaphors we can generate but I’m sure you see where I’m going with this. Respect to Pilot Potter.
Simply astounding. One can only marvel at the sheer artistry, originality, technique and harmonic dexterity of this genius.
I have never heard anything like this! ASTONISHING!
On stage: teacher/master putting on a clinic to a group of students who can't wait to devour everything their ears can possibly absorb. I mean the phrasing is just insane. No wonder Chris has remained relevant all through the years. The second he plays his first note, his tone instantly hits you with an impact so undeniable, you know you're in for a treat! Absolutely awesome!
#ChrisPotter Quite simply... the single greatest soloist walking the planet today, performing the icon song of the band led by the single greatest bandleader walking the planet today... Snarky Puppy Founder Michael League :-)
I came here from the Cory’s keyboard magic on this tune and this is at least as astonishing if not more so. I was a horn player in high school band and can appreciate this more from personal experience.
0:40 before starting his solo he gestures for the one. The drummer obliges. He nods in thanks and begins. That is one of my favorite moments in musician communication.
Chris potter seems really happy when he's playing with Snarky. He should do a mini-tour with them!
7:16 is the greatest amalgamation of all time
Shit gets real 4:20
420 😉
Chris - you are a total monster. Keep squeezing the juice out!
First came across Chris Potter on Marion McPartland's album, In My Life. His interpretation of 'Naima' is more than sublime.
Thank you for an amazing video !
THANK YOU!

8:47 : Oof he kind of blew that note
8:49 : U FUCKING MAGICIAN!
Wow-He is good!Very good!
Un véritable magicien ❤❤
7:35 ooooh

@@alexgoldbergbass if I tried to play that line, it would sound as if I’m having a stroke
Sensacional! Fantastic! Wunderbar! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 🔝
8:33 Wow
Jesus Christ, the creator of the Heavens and savior of the world..
If this isn't the greatest piece of audio captured to this day.
wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww tenor madness !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want Jacob collier on a lingus solo
There is one, look it up. Pretty monstrous technique but nowhere near chris or cory's solos in terms of actual melodicism
God makes ma wanna throw down my sax and cry this man is ridiculous
Staggering.
OMG! That was magnifique!I would have loved to hear CP and Corey Henry go head to head on this tune Lingus!!!
2:46 is perfection.
OMG!
Heat. Str8 heat

Goddamn, I miss live music.
Astonishing!
