I will never understand why this guy does not have a million subscribers. It is the most exciting and relaxing fishing show ever. I just love river fishing and he does it so very well and the constant sound of that water running can just put me to sleep.
The next video I’m going to work on editing was at this same stretch of river, doing pretty much the same thing wade fishing my way upstream but it’s going to be a long video I caught a ton of fish that day!
Many, many summers ago, in a 6 week period in Northern Wisconsin I was able to perfect this same pin-point casting accuracy w/my Mitchell 300 & St. Croix rod. On the day I arrived @ camp, I found an Arbogast Frog-Jitterbug sunk in the shore mud. I dug it out & it was my go-to lure the whole 6 weeks! Under an osprey nest I was lucky enough to tie into a few nice largemouth, but only 2 years ago did I ever catch my 1st smallie....I'll be 76 in Feb.
Who would dislike this video? All the perfect people who’s expectations are unattainable I guess? Love the pureness of nature and fishing from a kayak you capture 😃
I missed you “Bob Ross of fishing”! I got lost down a “fishing black hole” of YT! I really, really missed you! Gone for a couple days maybe a week. I still miss your soothing conversation/teaching! Thank you so very much for just being You!
It shouldn’t be much longer now! The weather hasn’t been great this month, lots of wind snow and rain. The rivers are all flooded right now so I’m waiting for a warm calm day to hit a couple pike lakes.

Dude what a great video ..have you ever thought about becoming a fishing guide???? that fish was on 2 inches of water man crazy!!!!!
Thanks! I've though about guiding but if I start bringing people who live around here to my favorite spots they'd probably become regulars there. A big part of the reason I have so much success is because these spots don't get much pressure.
So much knowledge, plus the calmness and nature all around, no garbage, no crowded spots and no noisy people messing around, men, what a lucky angler you are.
Your still my favorite UA-cam fishermen . Always love watching you videos, so relaxing to watch. Keep rippin them lips brother. Keep the videos coming.
Awesome fishing spot with beautiful scenery. Fairly jealous of the spots you have up there! Keep the videos coming I enjoy living vicariously in your scenery.
that spot is pristine..your a lucky man. watchin you pluck those smallies from that creek was great next time i see a guy fishin a creek here i will not question it..
You know what I appreciate most about your videos is your bob Ross like voice. Not to mention, when you are silent and point your go pro to what nature is doing on that day I shows the appreciation for god has done on that. Other mortals can learn a lot from you.
Great Video! I used to fish simi pro tournaments but now all I do is dishing rivers and creeks here in Arkansas for smallies. I had forgotten how much fun fishing was. It’s not work any longer, it really fun
You are truly unreal, mate... LOL At the 9:50 mark, I said to myself "If he pulls something out of that shallow water, I'll eat my boots." LOL Guess it's leather for dinner tonight. Well done; nothing but love for this channel...!!! 😎
The bites underneath the grassy bank and the one in the pile of dead wood are 2 of the most awesome bites I've ever seen. Your channel is underrated :P
Sure love them little river u fishin !!!!! Got it all to yourself !!!!!!! Can't get any better then that. Great work !! Tight lines amd keep them comin !!!
Your video's are SO on point, Thanks for taking me along! I've become obsessed with river Smallies after breaking my PB last year, and again this year, still seeking to land a 20". They have been my favorite fish since I was a kid though, they're just so wild. I've learned some new techniques as well watching your vids, your clear heat shrink trick on the Senko is the bomb. Can you share why you use a worm hook and not a wacky style hook? Thanks again for putting out the best fishing vids out there!
Thanks man! Chasing river smallies is my favorite way to spend a day! I seem to get a better hook up ratio with those EWG hooks. The Gamakatsu hooks I use are made with some pretty thin gauge wire and don't have too big of a barb so they're great for getting a good hook set with the 10lb mono I have on most of my reels.
Easily one of your best videos. You my friend are the "Smallie Whisperer" .. I can't believe I just watched this video now.. must have missed this one.
Awesome reminds me of a Big Creek I used to Fish when I was a Teenager here in WVA Had Smallies like that in every Hole you came to . It is a Wildlife Management Area now only accessible on Foot or Kayak and I hear the Hybird Bass they stocked years ago took over and there hardly ANY Smallies there now . Thanks for bringing back some very Fond Memories for me from my Youth . Keep on Fishin Dude Love your Videos
Great video! If it was me, I would get snagged on the first cast! How do you avoid getting the jig snagged on all those rocks? Or do you just edit that out?
Epic day as always, Matt! I still can't believe how wild this river is, to think a chunk could be in 3 inches of water in a small creek! These days must be like you are in paradise!
It was an awesome day! Those smallies really like hiding under the grassy banks on this river. It's a blast fishing them out of those spots too when you can just drop the jig in front of the grass and you see a nice smallie dart out and slam it! I did pretty well on this trip but the fishing will only get better for the next 4-6 weeks. I can't wait to hit this spot again in September when they're in fall feeding mode!
Great video. I really enjoyed it. I’m in Indiana and we share the same name, as well as a love of smallmouth bass fishing. I can’t wait for your next video. I just subscribed to your channel so I won’t miss it.
Phenomenal man!!! I love how chill you narrated the whole vid and every video u upload! Great advice also “as you go”. U are brave man, straight up fearless when it comes to casting in rocks, bushes, trees, banks and even shallows... i would never have tried!!! Lol u opened my eyes man, i see and learned there are a lot more places i need to be lookin into and casting towards! U earned another subscriber brother! Respect ✊🏼💯
Little creek? That’s a damn drainage ditch and you pull an 18 incher out of there. Really like the videos. Very calming, great surroundings, and my favorite fishing: river smallies. Definitely subscribed.
Me: there's absolutely no way he pulls a fish out of an inch of water like that. Sure enough there's a 2lb smallie hidning right underneath some grass lol
I knew there would be one hiding under that grass! Last year when the water was about 6" higher there were a bunch of them hanging out in that creek. They must like the cool water flowing through there, it's probably 10 degrees cooler than the river water.
Your the only bass angler on UA-cam that i can watch there videos over and over! Your videos are always amazing man keep up the great content and give us an updated gear and kayak review when you can. Thanks
Thanks man! This was one of my favorite trips last summer. It was a blast wade fishing and finding some nice smallies in that shallow clear water. I really haven't changed much with my kayak or my gear since the last kayak setup video I did but we'll see if I make any changes this spring. I still have a ton of footage from last summer I'll be starting to make some videos with too while I wait for some warm spring weather to arrive.
This damn River is Small Mouth Heaven. The numbers of nice size fish is Paradise found. Wish I had a river in Georgia, (USA), that provided such Fishing Action. I want such fishing fun.
Thanks Randy! I'm from Fargo too, this spot is a quick drive into Minnesota lakes country. The MGX reels are great, I've been running a few of them for the last couple seasons and haven't had to do much maintenance to them to keep them working like new. The only thing I'd recommend keeping an eye on is the allen screw that holds the body of the reel to the stem, I've had them loosen up a couple times.
Definitely my favorite kayak fishing videos on here. I wish I could find areas Iike this close to home....the Detroit river and Lake St Clair are both very over fished
I'm with you brother. I've been researching and it looks like the Grand River in Grand Rapids and Portage seems where we need to go. Im right near the metro arpt so about a 2:45 hr drive. Im collecting gear now to be ready for the spring
Casts are always on point, and I like how you just keep it simple and just go fishing there’s not many Channels that have that now keep doing what your doing..... honestly, I would have never thought that you would pull a fish out or that shallow of a creek😂
I just stumbled across this while looked for tips on smallie fishing. Great stuff! Amazing in what little areas and crevices you found these guys. Totally opened my thought process up. I just subscribed. You deserve a lot more!
Thanks Mike! It sure is a fun way to catch them too when you throw a lure in front of one of their shallow hiding spots and get to watch them come out and slam it!
I'm in Philadelphia and just have gotten into creek fishing the past year. So much fun and amazing the fish that are in some of these creeks. They're not super common but we do get some 19 inch smallies around. I just need to catch one now!
Love the bitsy bug jigs. Headed up to vt 2moro. "13 hr drive" we have a camp and property up there. Always do some trout fishing while I'm there but this year taking all of my bass gear. Hoping to hit the smallies pretty good while I'm there. The bitsy bug in a variety of colors is definitely in my Arsenal
I've used the Bitsy Bug jig on a few different rivers and it always catches fish! The black color with a black Kalins grub is my go to but the crawfish colored one with a Yum Craw Papi is great for smallies too. I might have to try that crawfish colored one next time, I noticed a small crayfish about that same size in my net when I got back to the launch yesterday. I went and tossed it back into the river and instantly a nice smallie swam up and grabbed it!
Great video. We like to wade fish too and often overlook spots like those that you were catching fish in your video. I'll be more thorough next time. :)
The Musselshell River north of Billings, Mt. has fishing identical to your river. It sure is fun without a kayak but I've looked seriously at floating it.

Thanks Darrell! Get a kayak, you won’t regret it! A lot of the spots I fish that’s about the only way to get to them. The fish in places like that don’t see lures very often!

@@ndyakangler Well, you do a great job.
I love this episode. Thank you for sharing.
I absolutely love when they get their "fighting colors" on. Those lines show up on them and it gets me all giddy. They're SO beautiful!
Many, many summers ago, in a 6 week period in Northern Wisconsin I was able to perfect this same pin-point casting accuracy w/my Mitchell 300 & St. Croix rod. Your casting accuracy continues to blow my mind. Insane the water depth you were pulling those pigs out of
Absolutely beautiful scenery it helps watching ur videos these cold winter months in illinois

NDYakAngler pressured fish are no fun.
@yourleftnut1 what a snake. exaclty why i do not spot share
I wake up every morning and drink a cuppa coffee watching these videos of almost made me late for work a couple times :-)
Its amazing to me how those huge smallies can blend into that shallow water! Pound for pound they have to be the strongest fighters. Good video, Matt!
Thanks for the video Matt!
You sir are a truly skilled fisherman. Thank you for specifying the tackle you use for the hunt too.
Gotta admit, it has been fun going back through and watching/rewatching older vids!
that spot is pristine..your a lucky man. watchin you pluck those smallies from that creek was great
next time i see a guy fishin a creek here i will not question it..
Down here in Georgia we don’t have creeks like this filled with smallies, so watching you catch big ones out of skinny water was awesome. Great video
You know what I appreciate most about your videos is your bob Ross like voice. Not to mention, when you are silent and point your go pro to what nature is doing on that day I shows the appreciation for god has done on that. Other mortals can learn a lot from you.
Mortals?
Great Video! I used to fish simi pro tournaments but now all I do is dishing rivers and creeks here in Arkansas for smallies. I had forgotten how much fun fishing was. It’s not work any longer, it really fun
Amazing smallmouth water right there, you sure have their number too... awesome video!
Picking the one out of the fallen trees at about 12 minutes. Killer way to hunt him up! 🎣
You are truly unreal, mate... LOL At the 9:50 mark, I said to myself "If he pulls something out of that shallow water, I'll eat my boots." LOL Guess it's leather for dinner tonight. Well done; nothing but love for this channel...!!! 😎
Another awesome vid with big beautiful smallies, wow you are truly blessed to have such an awesome fishery! Keep em coming!
Excellent video! Good job hitting underneath that overhanging grass and finding those hidden fish!
Love it! This is smallie fishing at its best! Great video, thanks so much for sharing!
wow dude great video. Beautiful river and accurate casts as always. The grassy bank and fish in the fallen tree where both amazing catches.
Legendary stuff~
I love them bitsy jigs 👍 use em all the time
The bites underneath the grassy bank and the one in the pile of dead wood are 2 of the most awesome bites I've ever seen. Your channel is underrated :P
Love how you pulled that smally out of the log jam
Sure love them little river u fishin !!!!! Got it all to yourself !!!!!!! Can't get any better then that. Great work !! Tight lines amd keep them comin !!!

Not to long ago I caught a 19 3/4 " Smallie, I was surprised because it was only my 3rd ever smallmouth.
@@babysardines101 FINALLY landed a 20” 5 years ago👍🏻👍🏻Haven’t broke 19” since, but sure having a lot of fun trying🎣
Just found your videos. After watching you catch 2 lb smalls in a creek with 6 inches of water I subscribed. 👍👍
There is no better fishing channel than this!! My ride or die!!
Wow those are some chunks! I can only wish I had water like that to fish. I guess ya just gotta adapt to what's around you. Thanks for sharing it.
Well presented and edited. Beautiful scenery and great casts. Well done, sir.
Awesome wish I was wading right with you awesome place beautiful 👍🎣
Very cool place got some close to it but the fishing not as good 👍🎣

To quote Tom Skerritts character in, “A river runs through it”... You are a fine fisherman.
I've watched this video more then once and have come to think maybe you should be called "The Bass Snaper" greatest video EVER!
I can’t wait for some summer days on that stretch of river!
Hey Matt: OMG your videos just get better and better; I didn't think that was possible.
Thanks Larry! It will be hard to beat this trip!
Without any question, this movie rocks... amazing river, great fish, cool stalking :-)
Thanks! This trip was a blast! In another month or so when they start feeding up for fall this spot will be incredible!
Don't you even dare to forget your camera then ;)

do fishing days like this even exist? This is insane. Great video.
Watching this with my 5 year old.... he says "Nice fishin' buddy". Very cool!
I enjoy your smallie videos, and loved the wading.
I absolutely loved this video!! Thanks for sharing.
I got slapped once in a bar for saying, "come get my jig...," Like you said early on. Great video!
Awesome video man! Nice chunks especially in such shallow water! Making me miss summer!
nice job bro
There is no quit in a smallie...super fun on a fly rod, too!
9:53 one of the coolest strikes I’ve ever seen on this channel
That catch between the logs in that brush pile was dope! Awesome video man!
The dude is a bass whisperer
Unreal fish with beautiful surroundings. I need to come up there with my yak and try that out.
That was amazing thank you so much for sharing this I'm going to kayak up my local small river and try this out.
Little creek? That’s a damn drainage ditch and you pull an 18 incher out of there. Really like the videos. Very calming, great surroundings, and my favorite fishing: river smallies. Definitely subscribed.
I fish this way all the time except with a yum craw papi and omg.love the bitsy bug small profiles for the small mouth.great video man
Buetiful stream.and you are landing some slabs.great job.
That was a wonderful video you did. Looks just like what I fish here in Idaho.
Thanks
Just started watching your channel last night! WOW!! Keep it up.
Me: there's absolutely no way he pulls a fish out of an inch of water like that.

NDYakAngler it's amazing how nimble those little dudes are!
NDYakAngler your from North Dakota right
NDYakAngler Where you from smallmouth bass is my favorite fish to fish for
World class fishing my man. The best smallie fishing is when you only need that one money bait.
Your the only bass angler on UA-cam that i can watch there videos over and over! Your videos are always amazing man keep up the great content and give us an updated gear and kayak review when you can. Thanks

Best channel on UA-cam. I love your videos
Man. These videos make me want to visit north Dakota and Minnesota.
10:00 are you kidding? What is that, 6"-8" of water? Amazing. 😳 Love all your videos but this one is exceptional!
This is some quality video, one can learn a lot from it.
Outstanding! I picked up a lot of tips watching this one. Thanks for sharing!
This guy has a casting accuracy second to none
Great video ! one of my favorites that I have watched many times. This river must be nearly untouched by other anglers id say :).
Love me some small jaws! Good work man!
Guy...your on point all the time with these vids. I even went out and got me the same reel you have and im loving it. Keep up the awsome vids homie!
By the way i use to live in fargo and moorhead back when i was 18yrs old my first boy was born in Fargo.is this river around that area?
Thanks Randy! I'm from Fargo too, this spot is a quick drive into Minnesota lakes country. i been fishin for smallies for years and never knew they hold so tight to the bank like that amazing job !
Casts are always on point, and I like how you just keep it simple and just go fishing there’s not many Channels that have that now keep doing what your doing..... honestly, I would have never thought that you would pull a fish out or that shallow of a creek😂
I have been binge watching these for about 2 weeks now hahahah I wish I would have found you sooner! awesome videos
Your a great fisherman! Excellent job pull those little beauties off the bank!
Amazing Catching fish!

Awesome video! Dang that fish on that little creek. This is why I love your video haha.
Those smallies always like to surprise me!
must be fun for you to watch these when you can't go fishing.... what a good way to prove you caught the biggens!
Great Video! Nice catches and river
That river is awesome! I'm going to have to try that bitsy bug rig out on a river here that has nice smallies and see how it works out for me!
I love these videos bro. I'm new to your channel, but I know I'm going to enjoy it.
Love your videos and your channel is GREAT!!
Great video. We like to wade fish too and often overlook spots like those that you were catching fish in your video. I'll be more thorough next time. :)
Your casting accuracy is sick!
Your wading videos are great.
I’m going to be so sad when I finish watching the last of your old videos
Good thing spring is here and I’ll be back on the river soon!
The Musselshell River north of Billings, Mt. has fishing identical to your river. It sure is fun without a kayak but I've looked seriously at floating it.
Great video , I enjoyed it , thank you for sharing Sir.
Amazing movie once again. Thank you.
Watched several of your videos today and am very jealous of your smallmouth waters you have to fish and the quality of fish your catching . Awesome videos dude ,keep up the great work . Also I think I may be getting myself a yak now lol.
Thanks Darrell! Get a kayak, you won’t regret it! A lot of the spots I fish that’s about the only way to get to them. The fish in places like that don’t see lures very often!
NDYakAngler thanks for the reply back . I actually spoke to my wife today about maybe getting a kayak and she said thinks it would be a great idea !
