Most of my lakes here in southern Colorado had Ice off last week. I bought a new a new old Town PDL 106 last fall. Finally get to use it. Super stoked.
I always enjoy your videos. Very calming voice and that makes me watch the entire video. No annoying music, no stupid video graphics. Just the pure content of fishing. Thank you for that.
Crazy how abundant the fish seem to be there, they look healthy and are of great size. I live in a small town, old folks around here talk about how much wildlife has died off from the mining industry dumping waste into the streams. When I fish here if I were to catch a single smallie the size of those that you caught in the Mississippi, I'd consider it a trophy here. It brings me some joy to know that other places seem to be somewhat untouched from pollution and destruction. The fish live to see another day.
Thanks for sharing your adventure. It's always interesting to catch fish when they are on the beds, reel them in and release them and they instinctively swim back to the bed. They are definitely smarter than we often give them credit for being. The Mississippi is truly a small mouth fishing paradise.
All he does is slay smallmouth bass! His videos are the best along with Creek Fishing Adventures. Wish I had his local waters to fish here on the east coast!
What an amazing looking time that was Matt. I was born in Memphis and have seen the Mississippi many times but NEVER with that kind of clarity...by the time it get's down there it's nothing but trash, poop, and mud...lol. We see the same here in Parkersburg on the Ohio. It's VERY rare to have more than just a few inches of visibility. Another great video sir...great job.
No kidding! I grew up below New Orleans, where the Mississippi River is a couple hundred feet deep and very muddy. Around August-September we would fish at night off the pontoon ferry landing at Pointe A La hache. The river was typically at its lowest, and saltwater fish swam upriver in search of food. It is strange to see these guys walking in just a couple feet of water in that same river. Plus the clarity!
WOW, Matt, you just made my Saturday!!! That was an amazing drift on the Mississippi River that produced nonstop smallie action, just fantastic!!! Take care and be safe!
You know something, the very first video I watched from you was when you caught a big Musky on 14 lbs line, no leader. And that was the very first video that I ever seen and heard of a smallmouth bass. When you caught one, I was like “ what kind of bass is that?” And that’s how I’ve started watching your videos in the first place. 🎣👍
Great fishing action, Matt! But the scenery, Brother, that is incredible! Every few seconds it was like seeing a moving masterpiece painting, the river is so beautiful there.
Great video! Thanks for putting it up. Absolutely beautiful day and the bass were amazing. So cool 👍 I can't wait to get back in the yak!!! 17 degrees today Indiana. Won't be long.
You're the reason I'm buying kayaks for the group!! Some places the boat just can't get to, and sometimes you just don't want the hassle/noise in paradise!
I sure miss the sound of the blackbirds and Orioles during winter. Looking forward to spring and the trees blooming, and of course the small mouth bite that comes when the river valleys begin to thaw.
I’ve got fishing fever BAD lol still soooo much snow outside here in Nova Scotia and the days are cold. Fishing vicariously through you Matt, thanks for the adventure
Gorgeous weather 😍 wow ,and some real thick smallies ,love your videos bud keep em coming ,we still have 4 feet of ice here in northern Canada but I absolutely can't wait for kayaking season
Man, what a fabulous day of sunny, warm, spring bass fishing, beautiful scenery and river, big fish, fun all around. This one for sure will stand out in the memory book for the NDYak man!
Great collaboration video with the out of state boys on the mighty Mississippi. You guys hit the window for big spring smallies. Looked like all kinds of fun. Blessings Matt
The Upper Mississippi seems to be the smallmouth capitol! I love wading rivers and streams no deeper than 2 feet during the spring here in CT. Pleasant comfy weather with the water not running too strong and being clear enough to spot fish, esp stocked trout.
Not allowed to fish for bass during the spawn where I live, not even catch and release with artificials. Looking forward to opening day. Smallies fight hard and never give up. So much fun.
You’ve really inspired me to dive way more into fishing over the last couple years. Purchases my first kayak a few weeks back and I’m ready to graduate from bank fishing. Thanks for the awesome videos!
I would like to see you do a show using the Mega bass Sleeper craw.I will bet that the small mouth will tear it up.I love your channel.I watch every show.
Very fun to watch the fishing on a stretch of the big river! I know its a ways to go but it would be great to watch a mid-summer trip too. Course, I'd watch dock fishing on this channel - always a pleasure.
I’m always up for a trip to the Mississippi, the tough part is finding someone else to meet me out there during the week when it’s not so busy on the water. I’ll have to get a hold of Clearwater outfitters this summer and see if they shuttle up to the islands.
I'm pretty sure you have about 50 Smallmouth that travel/work with you to help produce these videos! Enjoyed seeing you fish some different waters, bring us some more of this variety if possible! Thanks for sharing your trip. Nothing like catching those guys in knee deep water! I'm fortunate enough to live where I can as well!
Great video! It was cool of you to share that Honey Hole with the other guys. You could have just kept quiet about it. But you did the right thing. Nice job!
I had no clue the Mississippi River looked that good where you & your buddies are fishing it! Absolutely incredible looking water & thx for the incredible video!!!
Besides always providing great content, the part that is enjoyable is that he "plays" the fish in vs speed reeling it on the top of the water. Unless you are fishing a tournament, I don't get the need to ski a fish in as fast as you can. Fighting the fish is all part of the enjoyment of being on the water.
Looking outside at the snow and realizing kayak season is still a long ways off here. Thanks for another great video! Counting the days!
Most of my lakes here in southern Colorado had Ice off last week. I bought a new a new old Town PDL 106 last fall. Finally get to use it. Super stoked.
Same here it just snowed last night about 2.5 inches
Still lightly snowing here as of 10am. I feel your pain, getting anxious to get the canoe out.
Same over here in Ontario looking out at the snow and just twiddling my thumbs.
I feel for you guys! Granted that my location has its own cons, it's still mostly great fishing weather here in Florida.
I always enjoy your videos. Very calming voice and that makes me watch the entire video. No annoying music, no stupid video graphics. Just the pure content of fishing. Thank you for that.
I 100 percent agree
It was great meeting you, Matt! Hopefully, we can get out again soon!
I’ll have to come fish with you guys a day or two if you head back up here this spring!

This sort of video helps me get through the harsh winters up here in Maine and gets me excited for spring!
Me as well. Your neighbor here in Nova Scotia.
Me three. I'm another Mainer and I watch videos to endure the winter.@@trevorwhynot5433
Same!!
It's so nice to see sun, water, and green leaves on trees.
Meteorological spring starts March 1!
@@RideAcrossTheRiver Count me in! LOL

Who else likes this guy because he doesn't act like a 12 year old boy and doesn't play annoying hip hop music in the background?
All he does is slay smallmouth bass! His videos are the best along with Creek Fishing Adventures. Wish I had his local waters to fish here on the east coast!
Totally agree. It's just pure fishing.
Hate the music
Two of several reasons I like him.
The paul harrel of fishing videos.
thank you for traveling to bring us one of your unique videos

Your ability to cast so accurately is amazing
Ambidextrous as well.. impressive.
It’s just practice mate, you could get there too if you spend enough time on the water.
and super grateful you released content, after watching the MLF bass pro event on Toledo Bend I never want to watch “professional fishing” again
It’s average 😏
@@ADKyakmanwhat's wrong with it? Lol
Ahhhh, green grass, leaves on the trees, and birds chirping......Spring can't come soon enough!! Great trip!

I could spend all day exploring around a few of those islands!
Watching from Canada 🇨🇦
The best thing about this video is that I've actually had a day like this! Something to never forget
I love floating the river that runs by our city! I float in a 12’ Jon boat. Great video Matt!👍
I love the 1-2 punch with the galaxy craw and a plopper! Prolly my favorite combo along with the hellgrammite!
Great video! Thanks for putting it up. Absolutely beautiful day and the bass were amazing. So cool 👍 I can't wait to get back in the yak!!! 17 degrees today Indiana. Won't be long.
The false spring we had up here in Grand forks had me mad lol. Seemed like march or April but nope still mid feb.
I rarely watch a fishing video twice. This one is the exception. What a great upload. Looks like everyone had a blast!
Ah yes nothing like getting us all pumped for spring action while its February! Lol Looks like an amazing place to fish!
Thanks for the fishing content to hold me over until the weather turns
Mornin from Colorado!
Early spring fishing is here!
Looks like a great trip. Smashing smallies all day! Cheers
I'm so glad the description tells us this is a few years old. I woulda lost it if MN of all places is sunny while poor ol Illinois is 20 degrees now
Its mid feb lol there is green grass and trees in the vid. I wish we were that lucky in MN.
It was😂 we were in the 50’s with no snow for like 2 weeks like beginning of February. but now it’s cold and there is snow😭
Not in northeast Mn by the big lake! Virtually no snow & steady 30 degrees last 2 months. 😂. Warmest winter ever! Hoping we don't get slammed soon 😅
Ooooooo !!! Rippin Lips on the Mighty Mississip !!! 🎣
Absolutely awesome adventure. Really quality fish and nice scenery. Thank you for sharing.
Watched on the big screen today. What a great time.

That is devastatingly fun!!!
HOHOHOHOO!!!!!!! What's up Matt!!!! Glad to see you back on the water!
Nothing like watching some topwater smallmouth action when there's a foot of snow on the ground and its 23 degrees!
