    Is definitely a nice walk and bothy Robin - not sure if it always needs to be the ‘best/most/…’. I think it is rather the experience you have at a place which makes it special.
    Personal I like the Meanach bothy more as you know but again it was how I experienced it.

      It’s subjective, I think this one has a lot to offer and it’s less frequented, yet this was my 4th stay making it my most visited bothy. Meanach probably similar to be fair, being a bit out of reach too.

    Last time I was there (maybe 10 years ago) it was filled with an English public school 'hiking' group. There were about 20 of them and they had a tent pitched in one of the upstairs rooms! They weren't happy to see me so I moved on to Staoineag - after a few words with their leader about overcrowding bothies with one group!

    Question from someone who has never visited such a bothy: Does it work on 1st come 1st serve basis or sort of booking/applying in advance? I mean imagine arriving in poor weather just about to get dark and find out the bothy is fully occupied.

    • @WalkWithWallace
      @WalkWithWallace  4 місяці тому +2

      Hi there, there’s no booking system so it is literally first come first serve. However the unwritten rule is, there’s no such thing as a full bothy and those there before you should make some space for new arrivals.
      If you plan on visiting a popular bothy and or a smaller 1 room bothy, it’s worthwhile taking a tent just in case.
