What an enchanting adventure. Heartfelt too. Loved your little speech Campbell @17:22. Yeah I wondered what if other nomads came along and trudged in on you? Thanks for the glimpse of the lighthouse as well. You do recall I have an affinity for those things ;) LOL at the end! Midgies...I don't believe we have those in the states. They sound worse than mosquitoes!
I really loved this film and wanted to thank you Campbell especially. You talked in the film about about appreciating everything and not taking what we have for granted. That really resonated with me. For the past 2 years I have been a stroke survivor and I am currently laid up recovering from a knee replacement. Having gone from the most outdoorsy person to this in the past 2 years is no fun. Also my van goes for it's MOT next week so who knows. Anyway I loved the film and have just cleared my head with a walk along my road. I love your channel guys. You are fun and inspiring. Hopefully I can get out in van soon. Two weeks till I can drive, fingers crossed for the MOT ❤. Keep living and loving life ❤.
Thank you Alan, I am really sorry to hear you have gone through that. Really hoping that your van passes and that you are able to get out and explore 😊🤞🏼
What a fantastic place. We stayed in a bothy once, on the top of the Cheviots. It was an old railway carriage, the weather was awful and we were so glad of it. It was the last night of our walk along the Pennine Way so we left some supplies, tea bags, sugar, stuff, like that for anyone else who may have needed them.
That was a tantalising view of what we missed on our visit to Cape Wrath mid-June last year. The ferry didn’t operate for several days because of the weather, and when we did use it to get to the lighthouse we only got occasional views of the cliffs and the sea through gaps in the mist. Now we see what it looks like in good weather it really does look stunning.
Use to be a van that did a taxis from the ferry to the lighthouse , it was merc van, I think the springs were shot. I wonder if the van you walked passed was it!
I walked in to Kervaig as part of the Cape Wrath Trail before heading for the Lighthouse. Stayed in that little room. It is amazing to be on a beach that onlybhas your footprints. Many comments suggest you wish to stay and since it is free join the MBA so they are funded to continue this great work of maintIng the Bothies.
Aye, a special place Kervaig. The place has been gentrified, lined out with wood paneling, must help with insulation. A freind,s ashes were scattered by the gable end, a fitting resting place.
Absolutely! We always pack a tent in case the bothy is full and we need to camp outside but you can usually squeeze in where you’re not invading on someone else ☺️
You couldn’t have posted this at a better time, I’m contemplating a camp here in 2 weeks when I am in the area, do you know if dogs are allowed on the ferry? Another great video guys 🙌
Oops scenery is breathtaking, I have been up in that neck of the woods no place like it had family in Wick. Keep doing what you do thanx always enjoy. Peace and happiness ✌️🙂
Hey a fellow Scottish here this video was magical to watch never mind experience! We are just starting our channel hopefully to be able to do these kind of adventures but with our 1 year old. How did you learn about editing and the best way to vlog etc? I feel if I learn how to edit I will know what I need to capture if that makes sense but don't know where to start 😢. Our van hopefully will be built in the next month or so maybe see you out there one day 😊
It is the best way to document these beautiful moments in your life 🥰 we learnt through the Lost Creator Academy course and a lot of practice! You can read about the course here - highlands2hammocks.co.uk/lost-creator-academy-review/
I think it’s hard to completely get rid of the midges but there is a strong citronella scent from them so it’s surely helped a bit 😁 we’re going to continue using them anyway!
We've made a decision, we are going to have to stop watching your vlogs effectively immediately, as we cannot fit in, all of your great suggestions of places to visit, as Sharon's visa is only for 2 yrs and 9 months 😅😅😅. Seriously, we are sooooo going here, thank you for the share, such a great vlog, one of your best. BTW, how do we get that link for the bottle rope 😂
Absolutely fabulous adventure that
It was so much fun 😁
Wow , absolutely beautiful views . What an amazing place. That wee bothy just looks like a dream location . ❤❤❤

I'm so glad you got the first night there to yourselves - it looked absolutely magical!

Loved visiting Scotland five years ago. I want to go back!
Glad to hear it 😁 especially these remote places! This is one of our favourite spots to visit as well as it was just incredible
I have always wanted to spend a night in this bothy, one day I hope to be there, thank you for this video.
You would love it 😁
Loved this one guys! How lucky you were with the weather. I've only seen this area through breaks in the mist 😂
Hahaha we sure were! Would have been such a different trip if the weather turned sooner 😆
Awesome adventure! (Also, sign us up for the bottle rope trial! 😂)
Haha thanks guys! 😁
Bottle rope......😂😂😂.....Great commercial of your invention 👍😅
Haha thanks I’m in dragons den next week 😆
@@highlands2hammocksWouldn't that be funny, love to see their reactions 😄
Stunning place. No one would find you there for year's if the bothy bone crushrr got ya...😅 x

Wow a magical place and adventure. It was a real treat to watch this vlog 💙💙💙
Glad you enjoyed it
Oh Wow!! Where can l get a ''bottle rope''?? Enjoyed the video Guys. Thanks.
Haha coming to all good beaches near you 😆
Ben Alder Cottage Bothy (also known as McCook's Cottage) is said to be the most remote of Scotland's 83 bothies.
Ahh interesting! Will need to go there next 😁
Sandwood Bay is a great place to hike to and spend the day or even camp.
We visit there in next weeks video 😁
@@highlands2hammocks Brilliant...it's a magical spot that's for sure.

It sure is beautiful! Guess it’s had a face lift recently due to usage ☺️
Beautiful video! ❤
Thank you!!
Woooooo.ghosties 😂👍
Haha luckily nothing went bunp
Are you having a midge stew.🏴👍
We might as well have 😂
Gorgeous. Impressive how easy and safe bothies are. What if a bothy is already occupied? Is room made for everyone?
Absolutely! We always pack a tent in case the bothy is full and we need to camp outside but you can usually squeeze in where you’re not invading on someone else ☺️
LOL, you sure showed that tick a thing or two.
Haha only way to deal with it! 😂
Congratulations, I was quite satisfied and yes I liked it a lot.
Thanks for watching 😁

Just wondering, do you think the midge bracelets did anything?

I’m 68 and I want to visit Scotland but I still need my motor home and cheap motor home lol
You will love it! Just go for it 😁
What’s the map thing your doing ??
We are producing a map to pair with our destination NC500 book 😁
In southern New Jersey, USA, we are invested with ticks. #HateTicks🕷🐜
Bothy life ! 🙂
For sure 😁
The midges are murder.👍🏴
Absolutely!
Love it there, got eaten alive by the wee beasties though. Great video
Thank you 😊
Was there a potty?
Nope ☺️ just the great outdoors!
I would love go to Scotland my ancestors home. I am half Scottish and half Irish.
👍
🥰🥰
What is a "Medgee", some kind of bug, like a little fly or mosquito? Do they bite?
It’s a small insect that causes untold misery around the highlands 😆 think mosquito but 1000x as many
